So Sean, do you have a final verdict on TLOU yet? I haven't been paying much attention to your Youtube channel lately (haven't spent much time on Youtube period).foxhound_fox
It's cool man don't worry about it ;)
I fricken love the game. Still not actually finished it yet but I'm on the final chapter so I can make a pretty final assumption on gameplay after 10+ hours. It's a pretty fantastic game and I have no trouble saying on of the best this gen.
Of course it's not perfect like so many around here claim. It starts off incredibly slow and after 4 hours in I actually didn't feel that attached to it. Gunplay was sloppy, unresponsive and just all over the place in general. Yes there are things to explain that away but it just didn't feel good to control and that's what counts to me. COmpanion AI is still pretty broken the whole way through with enemies not seeing them or reacting to them. Example: In a room full of clickers Ellie sprints across the room and shouts "AW I HATE THESE THINGS!" and it breaks the immersion totally. Not THAt bad but in a game that nailed immersion and realism and disbelief so well up until then, those moments really shatter the illusion.
Other niggles like the game forcing you into gunfights and defending against wave after wave of enemy felt too videogamey, couple that with some "mini bosses" it fell into a few traps.
Over all still a solid game and it's Naughty Dog at their best. Characters are amazing, voice acting is fvcking excellent like the best around. Troy Baker is at his best in this and he knocks it out of the park. Visuals are also impressive at times (lighting, shadows) but it's a little inconsistent at the start. Later levels shine. And the Audio is the best around
