If you work at Gamestop, PLEASE don't be this guy..

I understand that different people have different opinions about what's better than what, and that there are some die hard fans of the different consoles. (For the record I have both a PS3 and an Xbox 3670 and I love them both. ) However, sometimes people take things a little too far. I don't have a problem at all with gamers arguing with each other why their console is better. Go ahead, **** and moan to your heart's content. However, the dude I saw today working at my local Gamestop took the battle between Xbox and PS to a new dickish level.

So while I was waiting in line there was a kid (around 8 - 10) with his dad looking to buy a new xbox. Gamestop was almost sold out except for a 4gb model and the Kinect combo pack. The dad was telling the employee about how all his kid's friends had xbox and how he was excited about playing with them online.. ect..

Once the employee pulled out the 4gb console that they had decided on, he proceeded to go on a xbox bashing session that lasted for the remainder of the time I was in the store, which was around 25 minutes. He was listing a number of games including Halo and Fallout, that couldn't be played on a 4gb xbox (Which isn't true, and one of the main things the kid was looking forward to was playing Halo. Now, given there is limited online play for Halo with this particular console, but that is vastly different than faltout not being able to play a game) He then talked about how terribly built the xbox was and that the new one was worst than the old ones in almost every respect. I saw customers in line shaking their head in disbelief at the crap this guy was shoveling out. He then proceeded (While people were still waiting in line) to take the boy and his father over to the PS3 section to tell them about all the amazing games the PS3 has and how they are just so much better than XBOXs. "This is Killzone, it's like Halo, but waaaay better!!!"

The whole time the Kid had this confused worried look on his face, which morphed into a solemn blank expression which lead to (I kid you not) the employee snapping his fingers in front of the kid, "Saying Hellooo!? SNAP out of it!" I could go on and on about this guys ridiculous rant, but you probably got the point by now.

So now some kid's dad is probably going to get him a PS3, ...which he does not want, and knows nothing about, and cannot play online with his friends, because some douche couldn't see past his own ridiculous bias to let the kid get what he wanted. I mean this guy seriously worked hard to talk the dad out of getting the XBOX, like it was Satan's own trojan horse of evil mind manipulation that would kill your soul if gazed upon.

So please, if you work in a game store and some kid wants to simply buy something and DOES NOT ASK FOR YOUR OPINION!.... just give it to him. That way, he gets what he wants and people don't have to wait in line listening to your BS when they could,.. you know ...could be buying something.

i'm calling this legit because i have seen the exact same thing happen while in various stores with salespeople for both the ps3 and the 360.

i saw a 360 fanboy sales guy at gamestop and a ps3 one at bestbuy.

More of a blog story but yeah, thats fanboys for you.Ive seen similar things at GameStop but I couldnt tell if it was fanboyism or simple ignorance.

All Joking aside Gamespot has always had an employee here and there that brings their personal taste onto the sales floor. (which is very annoying, most of us have all done our research on what we want and don't want before we enter the store planning on buying)

Honestly though I have so many crazy stories about Gamestop, its unbelievable. I never even bother to post them cause some of the stuff would just sound too far fetched.

I will say this though, I do everything I can to avoid doing business with them. Not because I think my petty purchases make a difference to their company. I've just had so many ridiculous experiences with multiple GS employees at multiple locations its not even worth it.

Yeah I hear an employee talking to a kid about Diablo III and how they scrapped everything and its on permanent hiatus and such and I am in the corner thinking...WTH is this guy talking about!? Or its always fun when they say, "oh you should pre-order this game its going to be amazing!" No thank you lol, I will just head out now :P.

Will I assure those who doubted my story that it is true. I am not trying to take a shot at Sony fans, because I have seen Xbox fanboys who were just as bad, if not worse. The point is that gamers can argue with each other ti'll the end of time, in fact sometimes it's fun to debate the issue of PS3 vs Xbox, that's why there is a whole forum dedicated to it after all.

But to screw with a kid by convincing his dad to get him the complete opposite of what he wants if f'ed up. A couple of months ago I sold my buddy my Xbox elite and went to get a slim model and this same dude was there when I went in to buy it. He did the same thing to me. He told me that they had 11 slims returned because of RROD, and how they were worse the even the old xboxs. He then went on a rant about how dumb Kinect was, I didn't even mention anything about Kinect. I just left and went over to Target and bought it there. This same guy also told me that I didn't know what 3D looked like when I mentioned that I had been playing COD:BO in 3D on my xbox, because "Only the PS3 has TRUE 3D!"

It's one thing to pull crap like that on an adult gamer, because like myself, they will say STFU and buy it anyways. A little kid can't do much because the dad assumes that the guy working there knows what he is talking about, and he surely wouldn't get his son a crappy console.

I've gotta tell you.. I've NEVER seen the lvl of fanboys that I've seen with this generation and I've been gaming for quite a while now. And it's coming from All sides. The best thing gamers can do is conduct research and stand firm with your purchases, regardless of other opinions.

Indeed it does. So bad that I go out of my way to take my business else-ware. Every GS in my city is full of hardcore Xbox fanboys. To make matters worse, most of them have almost no knowledge about video games. Funny thing is we had a Rhino Games here for a while and they were all hardcore Nintendo fanboys, but GS bought them out and within about 2 months it was fully converted into an Xbox haven.

I would rather go to Walmart. The electronics clerks don't know an Xbox from an Atari 2600, but they don't try shoving their opinions down my throat either.

Fanboys of anything are the worst... period. The guy should have been fired on the spot.

Actually what really irritated me the most was that I am pretty sure that this was being bought with money the kid got for Christmas. At one point his dad looked down and asked,.. "Well how much money do you have?" I assume he got money for Christmas to use towards what he wanted, ... yah so much for that.

I agree about the women at Gamestops. Every girl I have encountered at a Gamestop has been pretty level headed. They just don't seem to get as extreme in their devotion to consoles..

True, but Gamestop tends to hire high school kids and young adults with no goals in life. They pay them peanuts and require them to sell every piece of crap they can.

Not really an environment that promotes professionalism. Even the managers and GM's I've come across are completely incompetent. I know this all sounds like hyperbole, but seriously I have never known of such a large business that manages to consistently hire so many... I better not be mean about it. I'll just say that the average McDonalds staff makes GS staff look like a joke.

Gotta hate fanboys. I'm a PS3 guy, I won't deny it. There was even a time when I could consider myself a fanboy, but I see this and I think, hey, I own a 360, I really enjoyed Alan Wake. Fallout runs like crap on my PS3 and I bet it runs better on the 360. I can give credit where credit is due. I harass my younger cousin for buying a 360 and commend my other cousin for getting a PS3. I have an opinion, but I know when the 360 is better for someone. Do you want CoD, Halo, Gears, or to play with friends, its the 360. If you like to play solo, like playing MP, but don't care about where your friends are, its a PS3 MOST OF THE TIME. I know what I like but my situation isn't the standard.

He told me I should buy it for the Xbox360 cause it's "better." I told him I didn't have an Xbox360 and he suggested I should buy one. I told him I like gaming on my PC cause I got a decent monitor. Then he went on a huge rant about how TVs and consoles were better than gaming on PC. All the while I was like, "Wth? I just came in here to buy a game."

Well put. I admit that although I own both consoles I play my Xbox more. I am more of an Xbox guy than a Playstation guy. I would even probably be more inclined to take the side of Xbox in a debate, but I will always give credit where credit is due. I love my playstation, and I am very glad that I have it. Some of the best games I have ever played were on PS3. I may debate someone on the pros and cons of each console, but I would never try to talk someone out of getting what they want. Everyone has different taste.

Wow... that's pretty bad. PS3 vs Xbox is one things but PC gaming is something else entirely. I myself am not comfortable with a mouse and keyboard but I wish I was because PC games always have the most potential. Despite the fact you can get much cleaner graphics (with the right computer of course) but all the the mods people create for games are awesome. I saw a video not long ago from the PC version of Oblivion where a guy's character had wings and was flying around Tamriel. Another one had them on the Planet Dune! Actually I did just download Morrowind off of Steam and I am going to try and use pinnacle game profiler to map the controls to my wired xbox controller. I have spent all last night installing mods... Looks much better though!

I find it annoying when Gamestop employees try to impose their opinions on me, I mean do they want the sale or not?

Everyone has a personal preference, which is the norm. However, being a fanatic and trying to force your opinion down everyone's throat who might have even slightly different taste is when you have issues. In fact, some people take it to the point of being like they are a member of some cult and think it is their duty to convert anyone and everyone they can to their way of thinking. What a sad (and annoying) lot these folks are.

I thought co-op campaign and firefight didnt work on the 4GB 360? unless Bungie fixed this?
