IGN's Top 10 First Party Playstation Games of All Time

Are you kidding me? Its my top three ps4 titles of last gen, and you're asking me if i played it. And no, the story doesn't suck anything. As a matter of fact, it was the game with the most intriguing story that i have played in at least half a decade. TLOU1 story may've been a bit better, but i was nowhere near as invested into it as i was in TLOU2's story. Like not even close.

Completely dissagree with Infamous 2, i think it was a meh game that didn't really shined as much as we thought it would ... fun games, but not Top 10 worthy. The rest are good choices.

I'm surprised SOTC wasn't ranked higher.

I also agree that GOW 2018 > every other GOW game. I wouldn't pick it as number 1.

I never found Spiderman that good. Basically, it is a poor man's version of Batman Arkham City. Definitely playable but it would never make my top ten, and Spiderman's comments during boss fights are SOOO annoying. No wonder the bad guys hate him.

Infamous 2 was pretty boring. I played it once and have completely forgotten about it since.

I have never played a Ratchet and Clank title in my life. Am I missing out on something?

I preferred Uncharted 3 over 2.

Ratchet & Clank is fun.

For someone who had Playstation consoles since the inception, I don't actually have a lot of nostalgia towards Sony's first party stuff. I was always in it for the RPGs, which are usually third-party.

So I guess I would be a strongly disagree. Kind of a boring list for my tastes.

HZD was cool.

I'm fine with the top five but a little meh on most of the bottom five.

@pmanden: It's a timed exclusive (I think at least) from a 3rd party developer, so yeah you're right it's not a first party game.

Too bad that DOOM, Skyrim, Minecraft, and Fallout is available for more than just Xbox. These titles on the list originally only released for the PlayStation.

@vfighter: @pmanden: I listed the PS1 version into my top 10 but the Remake is timely exclusive coming to PC. I'll admit, the Remake came close to being in my top 10 but the original is where the FF series shine when it came to PS1.

@davillain-: I really need to play the remake. The original ps1 FF7 is still one of my all time favorite games and the remake from what I've seen looks amazing. My wife bought me a copy for Xmas I just haven't had a chance to play it yet (downside of a huge backlog sadly).

I'm not really all that good at putting things in order since I like a lot of different types of games, but #1 is easy for me.

1. SOCOM franchise (1,2, and Confrontation are my favorites)

2. ATV Offroad franchise (this franchise was so damn good)

3. Warhawk franchise

4. Syphon filter franchise

5. MLB The Show franchise

6. Everybody's Golf/ Hot Shots Golf franchise

7. Fat Princess (the first game)

8. Until Dawn

9. Twisted Metal franchise

10. Jet Moto

11. White Knight Chronicles

There are probably at 25 games in these franchises and a couple standalone games alone that I would put above just about anything on that list minus perhaps SotC. I could probably list some others as well, but this was hard enough since I hate making lists.. lol. Some games in the franchises they listed would make my top 25-40 but not the ones they listed.

If I had to list the 10 they mentioned and put them in order I would probably put those like this:

1. SotC

2. GT3

3. Ghost

4. GoW

5. Uncharted

6. Horizon

7. Spiderman

The last three could really go in any order since I didn't care for them all that much.

Is Infamous 2 that good? It's the only one in the series that I haven't played.

Well I know Evolution Studios exclusively made the World Rally Championship games for Sony (on PS2) before they ever did Motorstorm and Driveclub. Other companies make WRC games now though. Sony hasn't published an ATV Offroad title in over a decade. Wonder if they even still own the SOCOM IP rights?

Jumping Flash is the best Playstation game.

Most of those are worthy, but really Driveclub? Lol I bought that game on launch day and it was completely broken. Gamestop wouldn't even take it back.

I thought I would be the laughing stock of the forum if I added Oure to my list, so I didn't add it. But one of my all time favorite PS games as well.

That is first time I have heard of the game. It looks interesting.

Super unique, no question. But if you look at the meta score of I think 51? You would be like...ah no thanks.

Yeah, I know they still own the rights to SOCOM.. it's my favorite franchise of all time and I find myself searching the corners of the internet more often than I should be proud to admit looking for any scrap of information about a new game.. sigh :( They even shut down therealsocom a couple years back.

Since then I've been everywhere from the lead mod of the game H-Hour Worlds Elite that was kickstarted as the spiritual successor to SOCOM 1 and 2 to staying on top of any and every little game I hear about that sounds anything like SOCOM whatsoever at all. The problem is that no game can scratch that SOCOM itch... I guess Rogue Company did a little bit for a short while, but it wasn't nearly the same thing. I still love tactical one life shooting games (for the most part.. never was a big fan of Siege since it's just a literal camp fest and I'm more of a rush and flank kind of player) even if they're 1st person, but the amount of games to pick from is slim and the number of game modes even more barren.

I'm really hoping that Battlefield 2042 has at least one official one life mode. Sure, it has the throwback thing where you can create your own modes which is awesome, but you probably won't be able to level up, unlock things, etc... and then there is always trying to find enough people to play if the mode isn't official. I'm hoping Call of Duty Vanguard (or whatever it's going to be called) has at least one as well. I easily spend the most time on Cold War playing Ranked, VIP, or just straight up Search and Destroy.

SONY said a few years back now that they aren't done with the franchise but they were going to let it rest for a while. That was at the end of the PS3 era though.. ugghh.

A new SOCOM, ATV Offroad, Syphon Filter, and Silent Hill game would be amazing. I already got my wish on a new Evil Dead game that is coming soon, but I have no idea how that's going to turn out. There have also been rumors about a new Time Splitters floating around for about as long as SOCOM. Yeah, I know the last two aren't SONY franchises, but that list of games are some of my most anticipated and hopeful games to see or hear announced.

@WitIsWisdom: well SOCOM 1-3 and Combined Assault are currently available to play online via private servers on PS2 and PC if you are interested.

if you still own a PS3, you can currently play SOCOM Confrontation via private servers. The guys who run it are also talking about reviving SOCOM 4 and MAG as well.

Opinions are like politicians everybody wants to punch one.

Because its not a list of the most overrated Sony franchises of all time.
