No. Their definition of needed is just different to Bioware and ID.

It costs too much to do all that this gen.
If that were true, wouldn't Sony's first party titles (like HS and Warhawk) be longer?

Yeah actually it does. You really think 10g of audio is really needed? You think even 5% of the console owning population can tell the difference in sound? You must really like the Sony kool-aid if you really think 1 game requires that much space for a game. I guess games like Mass Effect and Oblivion aren't proof enough for you. The only time you'd need all that space is for CGI. I think I'd rather PLAY a game than watch hours of CGI video.
Kojima is a horribly dev...pumping his games with CGI to compensate for lack of graphically splendor, and Mark Rein is confirmed to have the biggest flip flopping mouth in video games.... neither are as level headed as bioware.

no... sorry 1080P has nothing to do with blu ray or enemies on screen and the game was rushed hence shorter... The PC version which is longer and 1080P seems to fit on 1 disc?

system hardware determines the number of enemies onscreen at once. RAM and CPU power make the enemies perform their actions, disk space is only for unique characters, information can be duplicated on the hardware. inormation for one enemy* hardware limitations, game design to determine how many of that one enemy will be replicated and animated.

Mark Rein could be considered an unbiased source, but let's face it Kojima isn't exactly known for working for anything other Sonyhardware recently and at this point I think we know where Square-Enix's loyalties lie on the console front. Find some more multi-platform developers who say Blu-ray is needed, and then you'll have a more valid point.

kojima is definetly not biased, if that's what you mean. he has said he is interested in making a new IP exclusively for the 360. he also fills his MGSgames to the brim with recoreded dialogue. In his case, he is thankful for bluray.

Kojima has never used pre-rendered CGI in the MGS series. all MGS cutscenes are in-engine polygon demos. that means real-time, by the way.

When Kojima starts making that new IP for the 360 I'll be more inclined to buy into his opinions. But his track record has been working exclusively with Sony for over a decade now with the exception of like one GBA game I think. I'm certainly not disrepecting his talent, but he's been so involved with Sony for so long I just don't see him as an objective bystander on the Blu-ray subject right now.

Virtua Tennis 3 was 1080p on both consoles.
On 360, it was also online with no framerate hits, and no lag (according to gamespot).

Yes, I knew someone would say that. I chose it because it was multiplatform, and achieved the same rez on 360 as ps3.
And happens to be better on 360 because of online play.
When we see a long game on ps3 in 1080p, Iguess we can debate further.
If there HAS been a long 1080p ps3 game, please let me know.

why is it hard to grasp that is doesnt make that much of a difference, also do you even own a 360? If not, lol, good luck with that PS3 and get a game called Lair. That can only be done on the PS3 because of BLu Ray =)

ideally, you can do more over a longer period of time: different enviorments, different enemies, different conversations, ect. But the amount of things available to you at any one moment is dependant on the CPU, RAM, and GPU.

I totally understand that. I'm just saying in this instance Blu-ray is great to have. Answer this question, why is DVD and Blu-ray games cost $60 dollars? Why is blu-ray discslooked down upon if it's cost the same? Why are people not satisfied with more space?
