I'm absolutely disgusted by the lack of hype for Metroid Prime 3

Over shadowed by the unproven Bioshock? Disregarded though it may have the best FPS controls for a console game? Metroid Prime has been considered one of the best games last gen, so how does an unproven upstart like Bioshock eclipse it? Any good reason? I say we make nintendo aware of this stupidity. Halo 3 will be awesome. Bioshock looks extremely promising. SSBB is a surefire hit. GTAIV will be a best seller. Super Mario Galaxy will be thebest Mario game yet. Metroid Prime 3 will perfect Fps controls and will complete the awesome Prime series. So where is the hype nintendo? When hyped, Metroid Prme sold well over a million copies in the states alone. When underhyped and eclipsed by Halo 2, Metroid Prime 2 sold half that amount. Metroid Prime 3 looks to be the Halo 2 in relation to Bioshock: eclipsing a relatively unknown game (to casuals) by presenting the well known Samus. Yet Nintendo has taken no steps to ensure Metroid Prime 3 is well known. Are they waiting till its near release to advertise, hoping that a casual will conclude that the game looks cool and go out and buy it on the spot? I just don't know. Heck, even ign is commenting on this lack of hype.

So, what do you guys think? Does Nintendo have a strategy for Metroid Prime 3, or are they just hoping the hardcore players will buy it?

I wouldnt agree that since its a girl it makes the game crap but... MP1 was great on GC. One of the best games of all time. Its lost its flair since then though. Not really looking forward to it. No MP or Coop means not much replay value = ho-hum. BioShock looks to be more original thats why its getting the hype (if only within the hardcore gaming community).

It's not going to get a big advertising push. It's the type of game that has a hardcore fanbase that knows it's coming out, and Nintendo knows this.

The reason noone hypes it is because it really doesn't need any hype. Everyone knows what it is, everyone knows it's going to be amazing, and everyone is going to get it.

WTF no they haven't, Prime 1 outscored Halo 2 and got the same score as Halo 1, Prime 2 is the only one in the main series that failed to outscrored them. Technically Halo has never won any GOTY's, Metroid Prime has.;)

Unproven? From the makers of the Thief, Deus Ex and the System Shock series (games that have won their share of GOTY awards and made it onto many"best games of all time" lists) comes Bioshock, a game that has been officially hailed by the developers as the spiritual successor to System Shock 2. Not to mentionthe many AAA-AAAA reviews from mags the game has already recieved. Not exactly an unproven pedigree.

see this is my problem with the wii fanboys. you make these lists and i really need to laugh. Geometry wars? re4? guitar hero? medal of honor? i mean these games are either on other systems (re4, guitar hero), been trash series for years (MoH) or no one gives a damn about them (geometry wars). why make a list that makes the Wii look worse? come on.

It will be fun no doubt .... but lost in Nintendo's weakness.

Your opinion, System LEading Franchises need to be epic in all aspecs , It doesnt look anything close to the other 3 systems, which in a new generation will discredit it , not by reviews, but outside of its fanbase.

I hard to believe so many kiddies on here justifying their console to everyone else. So what next? Pikmin with the Wii?? Another Mario with Wario and Yoshi in a combined mega game with the Wii-mote.. Good stufffffff.....

It's hard to get that hyped over a game that looks sooooo similar to the previous two. With that said, it will be GREAT. But it won't bring that much new to the table when compared to Bioshock. And no, I don't think motion control will bring that much to the genre. Whether I use a controller or wave my hands around will not change THAT much.
For everything I hear about Halo 3 not bringing much new to the series, it still brings a lot more than MP3. Read the previews. It is going to have massive battles, major AI upgrades, and ginormous levels. MP3 is Metroid Prime with a Wiimote.

Not everyone needs the extra shadow effects you know. Not everyone has an HDTV to fully appreciate good graphics. Good graphics are expensive. HDTV + 600/400 dollar system just so samus's suit looks shinier is a ripoff.

Well he went from comparing MP3 to the shooter genre as a whole. Then compares Halo 3 to the rest of the Halo franchise bypassing comparing Halo 3 or the Halo series to the rest of the shooter genre.

So again, I ask, what has Halo brought new to the shooter genre.

EDIT: I just want to know, what Halo did that was so great. Halo 1 was a fun game yes but I don't see anything revolutionary about it. Halo 2... well I didn't care for Halo 2, felt like Halo 1 again...

For starters never use IGN in your argument :| you lose all credibility lol jk and also because new exciting games (bioshock) are far more interesting than another good game in a good series which we know what to expect from. Unfortunately yes that is the halo argument being used there but thats how it is.

don't make me laugh. a game doesn't need to look stunning to be an epic hit. what matters is that the quality with your playthrough never falters. THAT is what should be pushed the most, and quite frankly i know it won't dissapoint.
