I'm absolutely disgusted by the lack of hype for Metroid Prime 3

Over shadowed by the unproven Bioshock? Disregarded though it may have the best FPS controls for a console game? Metroid Prime has been considered one of the best games last gen, so how does an unproven upstart like Bioshock eclipse it? Any good reason? I say we make nintendo aware of this stupidity. Halo 3 will be awesome. Bioshock looks extremely promising. SSBB is a surefire hit. GTAIV will be a best seller. Super Mario Galaxy will be thebest Mario game yet. Metroid Prime 3 will perfect Fps controls and will complete the awesome Prime series. So where is the hype nintendo? When hyped, Metroid Prme sold well over a million copies in the states alone. When underhyped and eclipsed by Halo 2, Metroid Prime 2 sold half that amount. Metroid Prime 3 looks to be the Halo 2 in relation to Bioshock: eclipsing a relatively unknown game (to casuals) by presenting the well known Samus. Yet Nintendo has taken no steps to ensure Metroid Prime 3 is well known. Are they waiting till its near release to advertise, hoping that a casual will conclude that the game looks cool and go out and buy it on the spot? I just don't know. Heck, even ign is commenting on this lack of hype.

So, what do you guys think? Does Nintendo have a strategy for Metroid Prime 3, or are they just hoping the hardcore players will buy it?

Yeah its hyped AAA, but hype isn't just about what people say its gonna get. Right now people just say "oh, yeah, i guess it'll get AAA." It just seems like people arnt very excited for it, even though it could be one of the best console FPSs ever.

It's Metroid Prime it's makes hype itself

There is not a lot of hype because it's a Wii game and it will have inferior graphics compared to the 360 and PS3. Lots of gamers here care a lot about graphics, that's just the way it is.

It will still be a great game though, I expect. I loved the first two.

Metroid Prime really doesn't interest me.

Also, why are you disgusted with the hype it's getting? If it's the best game ever, like you seem to be making it out to be, wouldn't you have more fun playing it than worrying about how much everyone is trying to remind you of it?

I'm not reading twelve pages of this so I'm stoping on Page 5 to answer this, k?

I look at it this way. Metroid Prime had hype because it was the first console Metorid since Super Metroid and it was controversial for the whole First Person aspect of it, rather than sidescrolling. Metroid Prime 2 releases, it is pretty much exactly the same as the previous Prime and hard as hell. Prime 3, even though it has the "innovative" waggle and slightly improved graphics, I myself am not hyped because it still looks the same. That and Nintendo is concentrating on a more casual approach. YES I know Nintendo is making hardcore games (I don't need a list), but they are pretty much counting on the hardcore to fuel sales when they are "starving for hardcore content." I bet you most of their marketing is going to be focused on WiiFit and either SMG or SSBB, which can reach casual audiences because Mario is in it.

In regards to Halo 3, the first Halo defined the Xbox and console shooters up to today. Halo 2 had massive hype because of better graphics (Night and Day between those two games) and the online which became insanely successful and propelled Xbox to sell the most during Holiday 2004. Now Halo 3, which has a subtle beauty, doesn't look leaps and bounds better than Halo 2 (again in my perspective). I think that people simply know what to expect: an end to the current story arc and more online. What is Halo 3 bringing to the table that hasn't been done before? But it's still going to sell because of popularity (which isn't in any means a bad thing).

That's just how I look at it.

Personally I just consider there's much superior alternatives out there that use state of the art technology to expand the experience at the core. Better graphics for a more immersive experience and advanced processing for deeper, more diverse gameplay than ever before.

But then again like I said I'm not the biggest Prime fan, if I was I'd probably be foaming at the mouth just for another installment. If I want a Metroid Prime fix I'll just play one of the first two again, basically the same thing IMO but with a normal controller *oh noes*.

No its not. AAA on the Wii is AAA on the Wii. AAA on the PS3/360 is AAA on the PS3/360. AAA on the PC is AAA on the PC. Whatever gets a AAA score, regardless of the system is a AAA score period.As a reviewer, putting other consoles in your mind and bumping or detracting a score would be ridiculous to say the least. If a console is able to churn out more than another console in terms of overall power then fine, but what stops a set of developers from using their talent a creating a great game?

But anyway, this game hasn't really been pushed the masses by Nintendo, which is a shame but it already has its certain appeal to its demographic, lets ee what more happens with it.

If you would actually read previews and watch gameplay videos, you'd know that Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is one of the few games that visually look like they've exceeded last gen capabilities. Not to mention that the controls are solid and the gameplay is as awesome as ever.

Its more like the original than Halo 2 (non-linear). But anyway, better graphics, larger environments than what could be done last-gen with so much action, deeper and more varied gameplay than before. That impresses me more than the only real thing the Wii brings to the table (the controls), thats not enough for me especially when I'm not big on Prime anyway :P

Why does everything always have to be new and different though? Oblivion is just another Elder Scrolls but its use of technology and graphics makes it a much richer, deeper experience. If Prime 3 was a 360 game and made full use of its hardware I'd be more interested, I don't care what controller I'm holding when I'm playing a game.

Well you aren't big on Prime so I can understand why you're not really interested in it. I still think the game has improved over Prime 2. I'd at least rent it and give it a shot.linkhero1

I might look for it cheap on Ebay after a year or so because its actually one of the better looking Wii games. Just picked up Wave Race Blue Storm from a guy in Greece for £5, old but awesome :D

If you do a side by side comparison, believe me, you can tella big difference... especially if you're comparing it to the original Prime.REVOLUTIONfreak

Yeah there is a difference especially in motion, but not enough for me to say ''wowz momma its next-gen, glad I gots me a Wii''. Its like a Gamecube game on steroids IMO. I mean honestly it could run on the xbox with a lower framerate (thats even a maybe because Halo 2 didn't even prove what the XBOX could do). Then you take something like Halo 3/Bioshock or whatever, tear down all its eye candy, tell HD to take a nap and it still wouldn't run on anything less because of its proccessing requirements.

Thats my next-gen, but whatever its all good :D
