I am def not a fanboy, I have been gaming prolly longer then you have been alive. Umm and ok I spent 250 dollars, I get to play Super Paper Mario, Zelda TP and prolly one more, SMG, Metroid 3, zack and wiki, prolly a new kid icarus game, oh and i can back catalogue a crap load of some of the best games ever as an additional feature which will cost me 5-10 bucks...how much is MS charging for their mediocre XBLA games....

And really I am sorry that you don't have a job to buy nice things. You were almost right though but my PC cost me around 3000 dollars to initially build and is still worth over 1300.

All systems get their share of shovelware, but they also get their share of great and superb games.

no, not at all. Nintendo's whole idea behind the Wii was Playing = Believing. Well, I played, and I believe that Metroid Prime 3 controls FAR better than any console FP game on any console. Period.

I think a good comparaison between the effectiveness of the two control schemes would be RE4. Thanks to the Wii version, and I pull scores that I didn't even dream of in the Cube one.

I noticed that too and realised it was too easy, eventually I whent back to my Gamecube save for a number of reasons.

a quick FYI I camped out for all 3 next gen systems Wii , 360 and PS3 and out of all of them the Wii was the only one I actually kep for myself and played that day, the PS3 and 360 for solely for selling at 6 times the price on ebay.

And what do I get ? Quite obviously Nintendo's worst mainstream / big system ever.

-mediocre launch

Lets see first off It launched with what like 8 games and all except Zelda were overall mediocre as a whole and yes that means Wii sports too. Excite truck was a bad tech demo, Wii sports has little to no depth yeah the boxing is a blast until it gets old since it isnt online. Not even a decent 3rd party game.

True, but other consoles didn't launch with anything really worth it either. My favorite game the 360 launched with was PDZ :roll: andZelda was superb, especially for a launch title.

:Gamecube Launched with RL2 9.4, and Wave Race 8.5 with Smash and Pikmin within a month .even Luigis Mansions was great for the 5 hours it lasted IMO

Sadly you're right on this one, but the review system has drastically changed between then and the time the Wii was released. Lower review scores were all but guarenteed.

Terrible Hardware

Last gen is the only one where Nintendo didnt have the most powerful hardware and even with that said GC held its own against xbox any day of the week RE4, Zelda tp, Prime, Star fox adv much ? And the Wii from a hardware perspective is just horrible. its barely more powerful than the xbox which means games like Alan Wake, RE5 , DMC4 , Assasin's creed , Unreal T 3 etc will never even be pausible on the system. And were only 2 years into this gen imagine in late 08.

Now you're onto something, but they needed to change. With 3 competitors in the "Hardcore" market, how would Nintendo have survived after selling the least amount of consoles last gen? They needed to make a cheap console that would appeal to everyone, and to make it cheaper they needed weaker hardware. Not that I'm complaining, I personally couldn't care less about graphics as long as the games fun. They're helping the industry in some ways by expanding the market now, and they're still catering to the "hardcore" audience with their older game franchises.

:lets see in 2002 Nintendo said gamers dont want online, now they're implying we dont care about HD ........ another misstake yes. Nintedo still doesnt have good console online, and HD is my way of life now . I even bought the Component cable for the Wii for Zelda and it still looked better on my 25 in SDTV than on my 32 inch olevia 720p.

I do think they're stubborn. It doesn't bother me that they didn't include HD this generation however.

3rd party lineup

RE Wii sales 331,618 ... compared to the horrible wii play sales of 2,087,623...... Its happening again and Nintendo doesnt even know it .

Sadly I agree with you on this. They need to secure some good 3rd party support, but the Gamecube didn't have it either, and that's why they lost last time.

So enjoy those non HD cheap development cost , cause Big developers dont give a rats ass about it when they know they're Bioshock will sell 400k the first week. What your getting is tiny developers making a flood of garbage games.

The Wii is in first place because people like me bought it at launch and soon sold it a few months after because from launch to almost last week there were only 2-3 good games on the system and all were Old Nintendo franchises anyways

I too wish they could've done both things with their console, and I do wish they would get some quality 3rd party games.

No new Ips/games

-360 has had - Kameo AA (possible franchise), Gears AAA (confirmed trilogy), mass effect probably AAA (confirmed triology I beleive), Crackdown fun game, etc

Ps3 has - Resistance AA (possible franchise),Warhawk AA (ok its technically new but it aint been seen since what 1998?), Motostorm great online , Heavenly Sword probably AA,

Wii has what new ips or games - Excite truck..... this one failed horribly.

Certainly a lot of new IPs other than just Excite Truck. There's Project Hammer, which I'm pretty sure was delayed, and several others. I'll try to reply when I can remember all of them but Nintendo's getting their share of new IPs as well.

Lazy Development

-Excite Truck was a $50 tech demo

-Wii sports didnt have online why ?

-Zelda made by one of the best developers in the world was uninspiring and was basically OOT with a wolf, wasnt nearly as impressive as Wind Waker

-the systems has what like 50 games rated under 6.9 already

Okay, SOC, I respect your decision and am sad to see you leave before any of the better games could come out (and I'm not talking about Wiifit.) If the Wii is not your system then I'm sure you'll have plenty others to choose from, if you have the income. But that's probably not a problem for you I'm sure.

I bought the Wii, fully knowing what to expect. I am willing to sift through the shovelware to find gems and wait for the next first party windfall, which are suppose to come more frequently and more diverse now. It really not too different than the PS2 really, except the hardware is more reliable and it's Nintendo-flavored. That's my choice and you can't convince me otherwise. After all, I am just an ignorant fanboy, right?

to be honest, i've been a huge nintendo fan my whole life but even then i can see farther than these blind fanboys. this guy does have a point. nintendo should have AT LEAST almost matched the 360 and ps3 in the graphics department, why sacrafice graphics for a new controller when you can have both? was there somthing really stopping them from giving us both?

that being said, i dont play the wii for graphics, would it really hurt to have up to date visuals AND motion sensor controllers? come on sheep, i know how you feel. i get disgusted when i see all the advertisements for multiplat games that could have easily been done on the wii with better controls if only the wii could handle the graphics, but instead us sheep are stuck with cheap ps2 ports that were low budget and low effort in the first place.

ALSO i dont think making the wii more powerful and raising it's price would have hurt it's sales either, because if the wii had up to date graphics with HD AND motion sensing controls, there wouldnt be much of a reason foranyonewho loves gameplay and graphics to not get it over the other 2and there wouldnt be any reason for developers to skimp their effort and support on wii titles.

think about it this way... have you really taken a look at the full wii library lately? it's been out almost a year and the few great games it has gotten were made by nintendo and were spinoffs or sequels of past games, virtual console games that arent even new and dont count, OR games like RE4:Wii that were ported to the wii from last gen or last gen consoles like the ps2 just to milk off of the wii's popularity

nintendo promised so much with the wii, but sadly the only great games i can think of coming to the wii are sequels to past nintendo games. dont come replying to my message all "but zak and wiki, no more heros, etc" because the few games like this look AA tops and the only reason nintendo fans are hyping them is because they are seriously THE ONLY non-nintendo games announced so far that look like they have any hope at all and trust me i know this because i'm a nintendo fan. sure there's a lot of games coming out but how many of them look like real traditional high quality nintendo titles? i might throw up if i see more games like cooking mama. you guys seem to forget what nintendo promised us, GAMES. and what do we get at E3? sequels we already knew about and wii fit, the little white thing you stand on. seriously, is that even considered a game? it would be nice if they made some titles like skateboarding and surfing etc with the balance board but as much as it dissapoints me to say this it's not going to happen. instead we'll be standing in place lifting up our leg and rolling the ball in the hole

lol, Prime doesn't have a story? Wow. And MP3 is probably the best game for the Wii so far.

Prime doesnt have a story , prime 1 you see ridley and search after it then a both of random stuff happens. Prime is 2 is basically the same thing but instead of Ridley its a distress call and 10 mins later the INC start attacking you.

basically you randomly find a reason to go to a planet and a bunch of enemies or a wrecked ship stops your from leaving

to be honest, i've been a huge nintendo fan my whole life but even then i can see farther than these blind fanboys. this guy does have a point. nintendo should have AT LEAST almost matched the 360 and ps3 in the graphics department, why sacrafice graphics for a new controller when you can have both? was there somthing really stopping them from giving us both?

that being said, i dont play the wii for graphics, would it really hurt to have up to date visuals AND motion sensor controllers? come on sheep, i know how you feel. i get disgusted when i see all the advertisements for multiplat games that could have easily been done on the wii with better controls if only the wii could handle the graphics, but instead us sheep are stuck with cheap ps2 ports that were low budget and low effort in the first place.

ALSO i dont think making the wii more powerful and raising it's price would have hurt it's sales either, because if the wii had up to date graphics with HD AND motion sensing controls, there wouldnt be much of a reason foranyonewho loves gameplay and graphics to not get it over the other 2and there wouldnt be any reason for developers to skimp their effort and support on wii titles.

think about it this way... have you really taken a look at the full wii library lately? it's been out almost a year and the few great games it has gotten were made by nintendo and were spinoffs or sequels of past games, virtual console games that arent even new and dont count, OR games like RE4:Wii that were ported to the wii from last gen or last gen consoles like the ps2 just to milk off of the wii's popularity

nintendo promised so much with the wii, but sadly the only great games i can think of coming to the wii are sequels to past nintendo games. dont come replying to my message all "but zak and wiki, no more heros, etc" because the few games like this look AA tops and the only reason nintendo fans are hyping them is because they are seriously THE ONLY non-nintendo games announced so far that look like they have any hope at all and trust me i know this because i'm a nintendo fan. sure there's a lot of games coming out but how many of them look like real traditional high quality nintendo titles? i might throw up if i see more games like cooking mama. you guys seem to forget what nintendo promised us, GAMES. and what do we get at E3? sequels we already knew about and wii fit, the little white thing you stand on. seriously, is that even considered a game? it would be nice if they made some titles like skateboarding and surfing etc with the balance board but as much as it dissapoints me to say this it's not going to happen. instead we'll be standing in place lifting up our leg and rolling the ball in the hole

I think the Wii is a system that's only worth it if you have a lot of people over at your house who you don't really know well. It's a good icebreaker. Or if you need a console that's portable or something.

It's annoying how Nintendo supporters refuse to try anything else and think that Strikers online is the best online gaming experience yet.

People put a bit too much on all this.

Heres how it goes:

If you grew up with games like mario and Zelda you will want a Wii

If you like the clasics that you can download for 5-10 bucks you will want a Wii

i understand what you're saying but this is bad... like.. way worse than gamecube bad. read my post, at least scan through it i'm not JUST talking about the games in thepostbut it is a big problem.seriously next time you go to Blockbuster or whatever you go to just look at all of the games wii has out as a whole, not just the games that you like. then try to focus on the NON NINTENDO titles only. it's pretty bad...and this is coming from someone who loved the gamecubes library and favored it over any other console's library last gen because even though it didnt have as many third party games, the ones it did have were good enough to not really care much about it.

i only hope some kind of miracle will happen and suddenly a bunch of non-nintendo games that really look worth hyping will be announced soon. it may happen... but you never know

i agree with you. wii would be much better if nintendo matched the graphics or PS3 and 360 with the motion control. but if i remember correctly nintendo was in debt at the time andcouldn't afford to make another gamecube, which they consider a flop although in my heart it was definately not a flop. so they made a cheap console and added motion control. i personally don't own a wii but if i did it'd only be so that me and my fiance could plan wii sports together. she won't play 360 with me cause she hates the shape of the controller -shrugs-

And common sense tells me Prime 3 for SP, something like hunters for MP. easily done if the developer isnt lazy.
