I'm joining the master race next week

@DragonfireXZ95: I can't *recommend* it but I've been running a 360 controller since BF3. My K/D is above 1 (1.35 BF4 / 1.9 BF3), my skill and accuracy are both Div 1 and I win most of my 1v1s so I'm not to worried about any under performance compared to using a mouse. I just like couch gaming (55 inch 4k TV) and I'm to lazy to hot swap controls for flying and such. That's the great thing about being PCMR though, I get those options. Sure there isn't any aim assist but BF4 on PC has far more controller sensitivity and customization options than the console version funnily enough.

Edit: Besides, if the mouse is God, the keyboard is its ugly stepsister when it comes to input accuracy.

So you don't have to play a majority of demanding games on 30fps (or lower) with a mix of medium and low settings. And sometimes even if the game isn't demanding, it will still be noticeably worse on consoles. Lets face it, nearly all games are multiplats, and PC will have practically every Xbox Exclusive. And just about all of these are way better on PC. This should answer your question.

I don't care about graphics, I play many retro games with horrific 3d graphics but I still enjoy them. I know that Xbox has become obsolete but I would rather play on PS3/PS4/Vita. There are plenty of great exclusives that will never be available on PC. I can still enjoy most PC exclusives like Football Manager, PoE, Stardew Valley and DotA 2 without having to spend much on parts.

I answered your question though.

One of the main "points in building a high end PC" is to play swathing majority of games on much much better settings/performance than the other options. All while having an exponentially larger selection of great exclusives that will never be available on other systems or Playstation consoles (W10 Exclusives). Also Total War series, Squadron 42, and Unreal do benefit from a high end PC. A few MMORPGs as well.

Steam Controller is amazing, but I would never use it for a RTS game..

PC has nearly twice the high scoring exclusives vs. PS4 this gen at both GS and MC. It depends on what genres he likes. If he's into twitch shooters, sims, moba, rts, tbs, arpg, and multiplats - PC is a no brainer. If he likes cinematic games and.....um... Blood Borne, well yeah PS4 should be his choice.

Still better than the PS4 and Xbone.

Don't listen to the haters though, that's a good build to start and you can always upgrade. Having some great hardware is a nice bonus, but it's certainly not the main attraction when it comes to PC gaming.

Being Master Race has nothing to do with what GPU you have or the power of your PC, not sure why so many of you think this, the people that scream about hardware and being PCMR on forums are PC fanboys, the actual Reddit PCMR has nothing to do with that, they actively shame those people.

Saying that, i'm a PC gamer but don't and never will say i'm part of PCMR, i managed fine for 21 years as a pc gamer before this PCMR schtick started :P

Most games for PC are better with mouse + keyboard. The only games I play with a controller (I use a playstation one) are Dark Souls along with similar action adventure games and FIFA. If you're good with a controller for FPS, you'll eventually be better with m + k.

I play almost all of my games with a 360 controller.

The ones that dont have support i use pinnacle profiler to map to controller. Works great.

Some games are just better with keyboard and mouse though.

You don't need a top-of-the-line PC to enjoy most of the popular PC exclusives, I.e, CS, SC2, MOBAS (ew), MMO's (except black desert). Additionally, a lot of the smaller budget titles that release on steam and not on consoles do not really require a beast PC.

The laptop I got for uni over 3 years ago runs gw2 on high settings at 30fps, SC2 on medium settings, Diablo 3, POE, ect.

I do plan to soon get a nice pc tho to play some of my fav games @ max settings and enjoy mods. Maybe get into a competitive fps.

So at what point do you cross the master race threshold? Is it a certain dollar amount spent? A tflops minimum? What if you have an awesome gpu but the rest of your setup sucks? What if you're one of these dudes who owns an awesome machine, but still does most of their gaming on consoles? Still master race?

Are there different levels of master race? Hypothetically speaking, let's just say someone were to build a $4500+ PC. Not even counting Windows, monitors, top end mouse and keyboard, fancy chair, etc.. would that render other master racers to peasant status, relatively speaking?

You should ditch that 960 and upgrade the GPU to something more current, the 480 or 1060.

Agreed. This is a blog post. But the Moderation in this forum is very arbitrary. Pretty much comes down to whether the mod likes you or not.

Having trouble rebinding keys, crashes, incompatibility issues, bad ports, big cost and still needing to constantly upgrade MASTER RACE!!! I'm just kidding. I got disgusted with it all a generation or so ago and I'm not up to date with the actual current situation and it's problems or lack of. Hopefully you will give us a blow by blow of your experience whether positive or negative without bias. Still, free multiplayer can't be beat. And the sheer number and variety of games.

I'm not here to preach that the gamepad is superior to the mouse in FPS, it isn't. However If you can hit your target, your opponent is dead, doesn't matter how good they are. Frankly, most people just aren't that good with aiming a joystick anymore, as modern games are chalked full of skill compression on console so they can keep the casuals. Good players loose their edge and mediocre players look better then they are. They rely on aim assist and that god awful snap aiming. It makes sense that anybody sticking to console isn't improving and anybody on PC is using the M&K so the distance in actual skill just keeps growing. I grew very comfortable with using joysticks without aim assist because I stopped playing console shooters like CoD at MW2 and BF at BFBC2 where aim assist wasn't anywhere near as crazy as it is today. The transition wasn't that rough for me playing on PC and I got wayyyy better. My accuracy is in the top 20% or something like that, so I don't really think it's just shit players. I think everybody is just used to such a low caliber of console player. When I go back to my friends Xbox I rarely dip below the 1 spot on the scoreboard and below a 3x K/D. I wouldn't even go back to console it's not even a challenge. Can I compete at the 1% level, no. But let's not pretend that everybody on BF4 PC (even the good ones) is MLG pro.

Objectively - first person shooters are obviously superior on the mouse and keyboard, and derived from the platform.

Yet, this genre is for all intents and purposes, is now the domain of consoles.

And we know why that is.

I will be joining the "Master Race" soon too my friend. An exciting time to be alive! Just got a Genesis recently so that coupled with building my first pc soon has made my year pretty great.

I tried all controllers on pc and for me the ps4 controller is my favorite and most reliable. I couldn't get two xbone controllers working together. Was a real pain. Ps4 works perfectly. Just get a free program called "input mapper" and have it boot up in the background when u start ur computer. Its all smooth sailing from there. U will know which games need a mouse and keyboard. Fps games and mouse heavy games. Other than that gamepad use has significantly improved my pc gaming life.

I cant believe this actually needs to be explained....

Well yea, they buy the hardware but don't buy the software, an utterly contemptible entitlement exists.

I mean, I'm sure pc gamers love boasting about their about their GTX 10246, but they no longer use it for pc games, those days are long past - console ports i.e. sloppy seconds are the present....
