fixed that for you baby.

@koko-goal:
Seriously, I actually quit playing Dark Souls early on when I got it for PS3. Picked it up for PC a couple of years back and the difference was night and day, now it's one of my favorite games.

Fun fact: Souls games are barely playable with mouse and keyboard. Using a controller for these games is just necessary.
@koko-goal: @ConanTheStoner: @lawlessx actually I finished those two and because of one person I don't think I'll come back to those games any time soon despite me loving them
Nice, once you're settled in you can play the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, if you haven't played them before. I like to compare the series to Dark Souls, as in it's the 'Dark Souls' of first person shooters. Though as nails at first but immensely satisfying once you learn the depth of its intricate and fantastic mechanics.
Holla at me if you ever decide to play them, there are a couple of essential mods required like better graphics and bug fixes.
And don't download the Complete mods for these games, they're outdated.
@Lucianu: I had played Shadow of Chernobyl before but there were bugs with objectives not being cleared, etc. and it put me off.
i just upgraded to a 1060. came in the mail today. why have I been on AMD for so long. This thing is whisper quiet. I can't hear it when its under load. Compared to my 7950, while a beast of a card, that got as loud as 360 at times under load lol. $250 well spent even though I only plan to use it for a year because next year is when the game changers are dropping

Which is why a controller should be an investment for any gaming PC (if you don't already have one). They are cheap and work better on PC than consoles (more configs and combos).
@Lucianu: I had played Shadow of Chernobyl before but there were bugs with objectives not being cleared, etc. and it put me off.
And just like the 'magic' that went through Dark Souls which was a shitty PC port at release, you can fix those bugs present in Shadow of Chernobyl, and not only that, but improve the graphics aswell. One of the many merits of PC gaming.
PC isn't the "master race". The most popular PC exclusives can all be played well on low end machines.
I always think master race should be reserved for manticores. They truly are the masters at gaming.
Anyway wow late to the party.
I always think master race should be reserved for those who capture all 151 pokemon
PC gaming is objectively better than console gaming at its best. THE ONE THING THAT SETS THEM APART IS EXCLUSIVES but consoles will be no more anyways. Soon we'll be talking about PCs that are catered towards specific demographics anyways.
i got nothing against PC gaming (waiting on SC to launch to re-up though) but its kinda funny seeing how so many people here are saying the 960 wont last that long or you cant run games maxed but pc gamers routinely always post that budget rig they would never use themselves which is so much better than consoles. :P
PC isn't the "master race". The most popular PC exclusives can all be played well on low end machines.
The most popular games?... You try running a MMO like Black Desert on Ultra settings at 2560x1080 on console level hardware and tell me what frame rate you get when you have 20+ characters on screen fighting.
Or maybe I dunno ARK survival on Epic settings... Oh wait X1 already has it and its running on low-medium settings at 20-30FPS.
Maybe try ARMA III on console hardware and see how smooth that 20FPS is and how crisp that 900p looks on 50" screens.
Please... There's a reason people upgrade, 60FPS and resolutions higher than 1920x1080 with settings consoles strive to achieve are not going to happen on console level hardware.
Master race?... Yeah its the smooth framerate club care to join?
PC isn't the "master race". The most popular PC exclusives can all be played well on low end machines.
That's one of the reasons why PC gaming is "Master race". duh?
It's also tongue and cheek cause PC Master Race was a term used by Yahtzee to describe The Witcher 1's awful mouse and keyboard controls.
So what exactly is the point in building a high end PC? Star Citizen is the first game in almost a decade that might justify that.
Its like you are under the impression that PC gamers just plat "pc games"(exclusives)... Which is absolutely the opposite.
The high majority of the games I play are multiplaform just like console gamers... There just aren't a lot of first party exclusives since its just not viable financially for developers.
Justify?... 1 game?... Really?...
What justifies buying a $450 GPU is playing all the games at 60FPS... Not just one!
3 of the most popular and successful games that came out this year... Play them on PC you can lower settings to get a smoother framerate or if you are fortunate run them at 60FPS and have higher settings than consoles.
That's why its the master race. Choice!
The only choice consoles gamers made was to buy a cheap black box and now they are trying to act like its powerful and amazing while simultaneously saying PC is too expensive. You can't have it both ways.

Exactly my point. I can still play those games on Playstation, but you can't play some of the best games each gen if you don't own a Playstation.

That's because it is better than consoles.
That's the underlining joke of this whole hardware situation console level hardware is just not good enough.
Why do you think the Neo or Scorpio exists?
960 will beat consoles... 900p medium settings 25-30FPS, you can match that with a GPU half the price, but PC gamer's have higher standards once you go 60FPS you don't go back.
Exactly my point. I can still play those games on Playstation, but you can't play some of the best games each gen if you don't own a Playstation.
If your point is that PS4 is better than PC gaming then you still don't understand it.
I have Dark Souls 3 on both PS4 and PC and boy howdy does that game play better on PC.

If all you own is a playstation then you still can't play some of the best games each gen. Only those that are on playstation.
Exactly my point. I can still play those games on Playstation, but you can't play some of the best games each gen if you don't own a Playstation.
PC has double the high scoring exclusives at MC and GS so far for this gen vs. PS4. Oh and the multiplats run and look considerably better on PC.
Your point is shit.

The difference is that my PC that was built in 2011 is capable of running most of those exclusives at 60fps.

No that's not your point. You keep changing it.
YOU said whats the point of building a high end PC?... I responded that you get to play ALL games at 60FPS no just one.
I answered that and you chose to circle jerk and just delete 90% of what I posted.
If you are content on playing games with lots of lag and paying to play online that's your business but acting like you don't know why you would have a high end PC is the most ignorant thing I have heard a gamer say.
Games are subjective... A gaming experience is objective can be improved with hardware. PC lets you customise the gaming experience you want.
You can chose your mouse and keyboard... or controller, you can chose your screen to go ultrawide or high resolution or high refresh rate. You can even hook it up to a tv and play on the couch.
PC is king because it lets you play the way you want. Its why people get carried away and spend so much on setups.

That should fix any bugs you come across. Also, it'll make the game quite a bit better.
"The game’s notorious reputation of being a huge bugfest ends here. Over the past two years a joint community effort has accumulated fixes for most known bugs and crash to desktop exits left out by developers after patch 1.0005. With the release of the unofficial community patch, bug fixes and numerous positive gameplay tweaks are implemented, such as realistic weapons names, reduced head bobbing, increased actor’s height, increased inventory weight limit, extended quest times, and more."

Except it doesnt really. I've built at least 4 gaming rigs over my gaming life and an outdated rig doesnt outperform a current gen console on most multiplats they run better on the consoles. Not saying the 960 is outdated but those $400 budget rigs are actually garbage. They might play a bunch of indies but you'd be better off buying a console to play say BF4 than try to play it on a $400 rig imho.
I just find it funny that guys that have $3000+ rigs are always telling people to go buy a rig they would never themselves use. Its kinda disingenuous.

How on earth did you attribute a 960 GTX to a 400 dollar machine?

You couldn't be more wrong.
The consoles are using X86 platforms the performance hasn't drop for PC hardware and increased for the consoles like it use to because of it. Below is a HD 7850 which is roughly whats inside a PS4 with a better CPU and its playing it better than the PS4 with a higher resolution.

Eh, that mod is heavily outdated and introduces new bugs as well, i highly suggest avoiding it. The thing is that Complete is a package, or a compilation of other mods. Those mods have seen significant updates over the years, but no one updated the very same mods Complete is using.
For example, Complete Shadow of Chernobyl is using version 1.05 of the brilliant Zone Reclamation Project bug fix patch, which is years old. That patch is currently at 1.07 R5 RC.
If you want the best S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl experience, i highly recommend:
These are my personal favorite for Shadow of Chernobyl, essential in my opinion for a first time playthrough.

This would be a better idea, for sure. I just didn't want the guy to go through a huge hassle of downloading multiple mods and installing them all. ;)
Also, thanks. Going to download some of these, as I've been planning on replaying the game sometime soon.

No problem, i love this series. It's basically everything i want from a game - completely unique as a whole, minutely detailed content designed out of sheer passion (rather than profit and commercial success) and plenty of depth to its mechanics to learn, adapt and stimulate the brain.
I'm finally getting my computer tomorrow and it's gonna have a significantly better GPU, it's going to be a reference model RX 470 :) I hope I'm gonna consistently get 1080p 60fps in most modern games.
I want to play most of games save for select FPS or RTS with an Xbone controller. Do you think it's a good idea?
I mean, you can, but I think you'll be doing yourself a disservice.
Outside of 2D games, and games with a heavy emphasis on driving, I feel as if most games objectively play better with a keyboard and mouse. There are exceptions if a dev sucks complete butt at implementing keyboard/mouse controls, but that's rare.
It's worth becoming accustomed to keyboard/mouse, and at least trying to play all games with it.
There are 3 things every PC gamer has to do:
A staple of the best PC gamers.
this is out of date, now its
1. Wait for steam sale
2. complain about how steam sales used to be better and don't buy anything
3. buy a bunch of shit on cdkeys.com or something comparable,
4. forget what you bought and don't play them
