And so do killzone 3 and Uncharted 3. There are some big differences, (mostly in Kz3) I can go over them if you want, but I'll go John Carmack on you with the tech stuff :P

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any difference between KZ2 and KZ3? If you could show me proof of a upgrade I'll gladly retract what I said.http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-killzone-3-tech-analysis
here's the article of what they're doing better tech wise.
Basically, I'll go over the basics. Where most of the extra visuals come from is for Killzone 2 they were only using 60% of the cell's Spu's, and this time they've offloaded enough post processing effects to max out the spe usage. This in turn leads to less of a workload for the gpu.
And what the gpu can do now, is push for higher resolution textures and larger scale than killzone 2. (not too much, but a pretty big amount.)
You can see the extra scale in the video's. Another thing they did, was take out the rather ugly quincux aa and switch for MLAA. Not only is it higher quality AA, but it saves up to 18 mb's of video ram for other uses. (at least 10 mb's in any situation) Also, It has higher quality lighting that killzone 2.
At the end of the day, They optimized enough to make it look like Killzone 2.5. (akin to the jump from gears of war to gears of war 2.)

Its ok but at 720p on a big screen it will look even worse. It already looks smudged to me.

Now that's some high res ****! :)
