[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]how do you pretend to be a fake mod? anyway, the irony is there again. you'll see...if you're still around.foxhound_foxWalk, talk and act like a mod without the tags.
that would be more along the lines of acting like a fake mod. how would one pretend?
I am pretty sure reporting too many times is still against the rules. Or at least I remember something like that being a rule.I will attempt to not get in trouble but I am reporting everyone. Anytime someone says or does something I am hitting the button. Something tells me trolls like heil68 will not get in any trouble. But if I say something like "Wow, Killer Instinct looks great!" AI am getting a 7 day suspension.....Oh it will happen. I am certain.

[QUOTE="cakeorrdeath"][QUOTE="Jakandsigz"] BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! You look at those posts and are BAFFLED as to how it's BS? The fact the guy I quoted was continuously in that same thread doing the same BS for no reason? What kind of deluded piece of crap are you? This forum is screwed. Are is reading not a strong suit of yours? Need help with the words?JakandsigzYou are treading thin ice... I'm sorry, so you won't be kind enough to show me where I got modded for with good reason? Ok fine, can you give me a link to someone who would please? I mean I am asking you nicely. I mean what is the point of being told I can appeal or have someone check on the moderation, if when i did so I am on thin ice at someones discretionary? So again, just being very nice here, someone to help me understand, how my mod was relevant.
that's being nice?
I just looked it up again and I did not see a link telling me why I was modded. And I really don't care to be honest. You all have let the trolls run wild for so long all the good posters are bound to get banned anyways.[QUOTE="timbers_WSU"][QUOTE="cakeorrdeath"] They definitely do and Jakandsigz can clearly see in his mod history the post that got him his first strike and I would be baffled if he is honestly confused as to why it merited one. oh. wait. was that just the pm you got? did you check your mod history? that's where the details are.
There wasn't a link to it...It doesn't really matter. When I go to the board I see all these Sony trolls that have not even reached a level 10 and it becomes pretty obvious I would not lose out on anything if I went to anther board. At least of GAF you actually get modded for a reason. I have been there 2 years...no problems. Come here and it is like 4th grade P.E.You are treading thin ice...cakeorrdeathIt's thinly veiled threats like this that made me despise the old ToS.

[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]what does calling somebody an idiot really accomplish? i agree about the old trolling rules but this new system is better.foxhound_foxWhat does saying anything other than that to them accomplish if they are acting like an idiot?
Hate to say it, been here since 2005 and this is the first time I highly agree with Fox on something. The new ToU goes in favor with people who troll and they know they can get away with it cause no one can say anything about it cause they'll get MODDED while trolls get off scott free.
This new ToU is just a ball gag, it does NOTHING to help the community to get better, in fact it just makes it worse.

Actually it does or at least proves their "claims" are wrong.
Also to play this pathetic game of cat and mouse, is the new ToU gonna make the website/community better, do you have proof it will work? or is it just some yolo attempt to try and make the site "better" w/o actually looking at what's making the site fall apart when we literally tell you and show you what needs to be fixed.
I'm disappointed you didn't. I'm looking for an excuse to leave. I'm seriously flabbergasted how the entire mod team doesn't give a sh!t about this and is accepting it without any negative feedback, and enforcing it already to old ToS levels no less. A volunteer position on a website mean that much to you all? This new ToU is dumb as fvck and I'll be glad when I get banned (I can't believe I ever took getting moderations seriously). This community of wonderful people has been overall good to me, but these new rules are going to turn it to sh!t very quickly (people are going to be scared to post because they'll expect to be modded if the rules are not distinctly black and white). I'm not surprised many regulars have already left and are rarely seen anymore. Like the old ToS, these new rules will do absolutely fvck all to promote positive discussion. How you do that is have designated topic posters, who have good topic ideas, and get them to post on a regular basis. All we get here, for the most part, is troll threads with little to no effort put into them. Delete the troll threads and replace them with something of meaningful discussion. I find it interesting that GS thinks going back to a variation on the old system, despite the old system proving it didn't work, is a good idea.Fox I am not modding you but please dont flame people, especially in this thread.

Interesting, the new rules have been in place for eight days and Gamespot hasn't imploded. Although, when one goes to poo quickly, is quickly in the span of months, years, or decades?Stevo_the_gamerStart banning some people and watch the community fade away.

Doesn't need to implode when people are leaving or looking at other sites to post on, hell some long time posters are already starting to not really post here.
Also I'd say the reaction towards the new ToU and GS layout is far from positive so I'd layoff w/e you're doing to make you think nothing is going down hill on this site.

calling somebody an idiot proves their claims wrong?
were you here for the tou that came before the previous one? it was harsher yet the forum was still very popular. then the rules changed to become more lenient and it brought about more complaints than anything else. there were so many complaints that a special meeting was called and plans were made to change the rules less than two years after implementing the lenient rules. do i have proof that it'll work? of course not. it's impossible to prove whether it will work but if a more strict tou didn't kill the forum, why would a less strict tou kill it? long-time posters left when the lenient rules were introduced but the forum survived. it'll survive again and attract people that may have been put off by the cesspool that was created.

The site won't turn to shit with a bang, it'll be a much more subtle and silent process, with people leaving, or becoming more and more scared of openly expressing their thoughts, knowing it could easily get them moderated because of something as vague as a mod having a bad day.
To make it clear, I'm not against this new ToU because I desperately want to be able to insult people (see my (Rocker's) posting history, and you'll see I don't make insults a habit), I'm against it because it'll squash that general SW attitude where you know you can openly express yourself about anything, without having to sugar-coat it. I haven't been posting in the old, "Casey's" ToU that everyone hated, I'm only used to this lenient model which works great, as far as I'm concerned.

It really won't happen. If you trully think it will, i don't think you can imagine how restrictive and straight up bullshit the old ToU was, and the community flourished under that.Â
To put things into perspective, under "Casey's" old ToU my account received messages notifying me of warnings, the usual point loss, 1 day - 3 day suspensions because of trolling, obscure shit like 'disruptive posting' that's solely in the eye of the beholder, far more subtle insults than what we've become used to now, and so on, at least twice a week, usually three times a week.
Shit, i'd get a point loss for writting the word 'shit' right now, no joke, and no exaggeration (hell, anyone from the staff can probably check my moderation history to be sure i'm not exaggerating).
As for this new 'new' ToU.. i haven't even gotten a warning yet. I wouldn't have known about the existence of this 'new' ToU if i wouldn't have read this thread. And i sure as fvck ain't no saint or the perfect picture of civilized behavior/courtesy.Â

You can still openly discuss practically anything. You won't get slapped with trolling moderations left and right like in the past because you made a disparaging comment about the Wii U or 360. Basically, keep a cool head and not turn to personal insults and you'll be fine. "The Xbox is trash because XBL sucks and costs money." Fine. "The Xbox is trash because XBL sucks and costs money and everyone that pays for this is stupid as hell." Not fine.
The best summary I can provide is simply... keep it classy.
okay. why are we calling the older tou "casey's tou" now?

It was just a minor pun on my part, every time someone brings up that old ToU, doesn't take long before you're mentioned as well. Didn't mean anything by it! :P

It was that bad?
But then again, I'd argue this new ToU is even more strict, due to the 3 strike policy. Sure, the rules itself may be more leniently written, but those punishments sound troublesome, since "hate speech" is a pretty wide term that can be rather dangerous when moderations are subjectively handled.
The biggest issue I see here is, when you net a first warning, even by accident, it's easy to get an impression you're threading on thin ice, which leads to a more tame posting style. There's no reason why "basic" insults shouldn't be allowed, nothing about this place says anything about "friendly posting environment", even the board title and the description make it very clear a thick skin is required if you want to "survive" SW.
