Important Update to the GameSpot Community Code of Conduct

Just about everything was deleted, only, since I guess mods were busy all over the site, they couldn't get to all of it immediately.

I'm fully in support of strict punishments regarding legitimate hate speech, but posters getting in trouble because of normal SW attitude sucks, plain and simple.

Ask foxhound here, last night, he mentioned he got moderated for calling someone an "attention whore", a simple term getting used around SW all the time.

Totally disagree with that kind of rhetoric. Just because anonymity of the internet often leads to some vial behaviour doesn't mean we should just accept it. Particularly when there is a team of mods who can actually do something about it on this site.cakeorrdeath

In many cases, I'd agree. But when we're talking about a board called System Wars, I don't.

You post here at your own risk, there's always a dose of hostility here, many of us enjoy it, and if you can't take that, find a more friendly environment, like the PGD board.

Under these new rules, anyone can report someone and claim they hurt their feelings and get them banned for repeated offenses. I foresee a lot of issues. Not to mention, this backtracking is just ridiculous. They gave people freedom to tell it like it is, and now they want to stop it? Good fvcking luck.foxhound_fox

If this is how moderation works now, I think System Wars should be removed completely. Otherwise I think pretty close to everybody will end up getting banned.Murderstyle75

i don't understand this. the rules aren't as strict as they once were. why is everybody going to get banned now?

It's going to be the same way except that people are going to think they're clever for insulting in a way that doesn't get them modded.

When the rules were even stricter than now, not everyone was getting banned. There is a little bit more subjectiveness in the rules now, but in a lot of ways it is easier to recognize what behavior is allowed and what isn't.

Also, how the heck do you expect to have an intelligent conversation with trolls? It's not going to happen it just devolves into "You mad, deal with it."  Absolutely nothing has changed, all this has done was put a larger emphasis on backdoor trolling.
