What? Virtual Boy? Dreamcast (even though it pwned the genitals of anyone who crossed its path)? There are plenty of others too.
The virtual boy possibly?
There have been much bigger failures then the PS3, especially since the PS3 isn't a failure yet.
I am 37 now, and I have probably devoted hundreds of thousands of hours of gametime in my life. I have come home from work every day since the SNES days and gamed 5-6 hours each night (almost always ordering pizza, and my size 42 pants thank me for that8) ), with 15 hours a day on each weekend day. I am 37 now, and have owned every sega, nintendo and sony console other than the PS3. I even owned a commodore 64 and a few ataris. I can say that I have been there through the thick and thin for each company. and I have NEVER seen a console fail and flop like the PS3- it is doomed. Listen to someone who has been around the video gaming block, kids- I know what I am talking about. accameron

My dad is a gamer and he's 54....
What's the deal? It's just like any other form of entertainment or hobby.

Yes, I went to college and work in customer service at a major computer manufacturer. I am in middle management, but I mostly work in the customer support center. And yes, I wear size 42 pants and I have a beard. And I am 37.

and you find him being 37 funny why?
In 20 years of me gamspotting, I have never seen such a failure as this thread.
Wait, I'm only 16. And, I haven't been here for very long. Is there a point to these threads?

Shave the beard , lose somepounds , and get a ps3 asap. Peace. What does him being 37 have to do with the PS3 selling like crap and having no games? And laughing at him for having no life? Why are you at GS if you are so cool?
gizmondo?! i mean your a fool for saying PS3 is a failure since console war has only begun and it's 9 years more to go. since ps3 is a 10 year product. pminooei
10 years ago the Pentium II was being released.
You really think the PS3 can hold up?
The RSX alone is already outdated.
Don't belive the Sony hype.
Well, I just don't think we've seen this kind of falling from grace as we've seen with the PlayStation brand.
It'd be as if Ninty lost the handheld console wars.
Sony is just a electronics company that wants to succeed in other areas, even gaming. They will never be as reconized in gaming as the are in TVs, and Computers.
Microsoft could be the same way, and the whole red ring of death isn't helping but at least they have the whole Windows connection. Microsoft has helped bring great games to PCs, and consoles for decades.
Nintendo constantly tries to give consumers fun games, be it Metroid Prime, Chrono Cross, or Big Brain Academy.
Its weird fun to you but great fun to another. Nintendo is always trying new things with their tech and their franchises.
The virtual boy and power glove were huge risks. The Wiimote and DS are another.
Wind Waker's art style was a risk, so was Majora's Mask, Manhunt 2, and Super Mario Galaxy.
They took the risk of not adopting online gaming sooner, so what? They at least give you the impression that they give a crap about the consumer instead of refurbishing your 360 with another doomed one and waging a format war when all you really want is really good games.
PS3 isn't a failure but it won't win this gen. It can't.
Not selling at the same rate as the GameCube, not after the two generation jinx, and not trailing in Japan.
Didn't the 360 outsell the PS3 in japan last week or something? Yeah, is that more of a statement about how bad the PS3 is doing or how good the 360 is?
Fun is what its all about, and I for one would find all of Sony's exclusive franchises just as fun on the 360 or Wii.
R&C would be cool on 360/Wii, God of War wouldn't change on 360, Jak& Daxter, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy would all be good fits on the Wii or 360.
at least halo is pretty much molded around the xbox controller and i would never touch a console that could play metroid, mario, zelda with any words other than Nintendo on it.
And at least you can't do any Wii games on other systems. Because of the motion controls y'know?
Trauma Center, Cooking Mama, Metroid Prime 3 would be a huge step down with a PS3/360 controller.
And Manhunt 2 is loads more fun on the Wii anyway.
Wonderswan, Virtual Boy, Dreamcast, 3DO, Neo Geo. Jaguar all come to mind... apparently you haven't remembered much in your gaming past. :?-RPGamer-
Not as much Hype and Expectations with those systems.
The PS3 was being hailed by Sony and their followers as a true gift to humanity.

Do you really think that's a good comparison? 10 years ago we had 14.4 modems too, that doesn't mean we're going to have flying cars in another 10.
To paraphrase:
I am 37 years old and all I have done is game and eat pizza
Maybe you think that speaks highly of your character and gives you some kind of gaming credentials, but I find it... heh. I won't even touch it.
What's really funny is that I'm only 24 yet I can remember the 3DO, the Atari Jaguar, the Atari Lynx, the Virtua Boy, and the Sega Dreamcast. Early-onset alzheimers? :(

Don't diss the pizza!

My point exactly. We are not moving at a linear pace. The PS3 will be outdated before you know with some new technology that may yet to be discovered.
10 years is an awful long time for a piece of computer electronics to hold up in this day and age.
The RSX alone is already outdated
Thank you for proving my point.

I stopped reading there :P I only go to this guys threads because I like to watch everyone own him. haha. I don't even read his posts. I see his silly pink avatar and know to skip it. lol.
But anyway, how can you claim 20+ years of gaming when you are clearly not 20+?0rin
Dude, I'm 37. What part of that did you miss? Oh yeah by the way, I went to Tipsy's last week for college night. there were lots of AAA girls there. I tried to buy one a drink, but when I bought it for her she walked away with it without talking to me. I got mad and walked up to her like "OMG, let's talk I just bought you a drink" but she turned around and started talking to her friends. She was still an AAA girl though. that's the only one I talked to at Tipsy's, I might try the Action Factory college night next week.

the problem is that he lurks on SW making countless anit-PS3 threads for kicks. i would have pegged him at about 12 years old if he didnt just post that
Stuff like the gizmondo, 3D0, and Jaguar are not flops as they were never good to begin with, were never anticipated to be successes, and were not the predessesors of great consoles.
The Vitrual Boy is a huge flop. Nintendo wanted it to me the next gameboy...the gameboy!

Why do you keep on defending the 37 thing but have made no response to all the people providing examples of you being wrong such as the Virtual Boy, Jagaur, wonderswan, etc.[QUOTE="0rin"]

why would you tell other people that?
A picture is memorized easier than words. I didn't know by looking at your name that you're a fanboy, but your avatar reminded me of it. Here's an unorthodox tip for being a fanboy you won't usually find: get a new avatar every week.manningbowl135
this one seems to make people the most mad, so I keep it. I have no intention of buying or playing cooking mama.

PS1 lasted 10 years, PS2 is still selling strong and it's on it's 8year, it's not about the graphc or how powerful the console is in 10 years its' about the games, i mean even gameboy lasted like 15 or so years and still selling.

I'm not talking about this system wars concept of something failing where hype is needed. I'm talking about flat out failures.

With that said you can still pick up Atari games on Ebay and play them.
But it doesn't hold up.
The PS3 will not last 10 years as Sony's number 1 console.
They just say that to make you feel better when dropping U$500 on a console with limited games.
