Meh crysis 2 was good on all platforms from all the news i've seen it also sold good and got good reviews.
The only other thing you can ask for it your game turn into a cult icon like call of duty that sells since it's call of duty.

the PC core users would have bought it in droves right? all games on the PC have 100% sell through.[QUOTE="htekemerald"]
Meh, they abandoned their PC core for the consolites and got screwed for it. Can't say I feel sorry for them.

Well they wouldn't have wasted all that money getting Cryengine running on the consoles...
We have enough proof to say that the game will be lucky to make all that money dumped into it back. The best they can hope for. It's more than just wishful thinking at this point. They had two studios working on this, hell they bought another studio during production. How much would the budget for this game be? What proof? The NPD which gives no numbers and only covers US retail(Not even all retail at that)? It's N.7...on it's launch month. That's pretty weak. What more do you need to figure out that this game is not a big sellers? Seriously. Not everything has to be spelled out. You're grasping straws to fit your own arguments. Bloated Budget + Bloated Marketing, N.7 is bad.[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"][QUOTE="lawlessx"] why are you trying to take your own opinion/theories and force it on others without having cold hard facts to support them? Wait until we have a worldwide report..then talk about it being a flop sales wisei5750at4Ghz

And your not doing the same right now by not waiting for a worldwide sales report? Your also not taking into account that games tend to sell overtime..like crysis

Didn't you hear? North America is the world!Wrong about what? What does that have to do with today? Copy-pasting a Wikipedia page that goes up to May of 2009 is your way of proving me wrong? lolYou're wrong, again.

Yep.
A wikipedia page with links to Sony financial reports.
In about the same amount of time it sold
600.000 in the US
1.000.000 Worldwide
Obviosly it sold more in the US than Europe obviosly. lol

Why would Crysis 2 sell over time? It's not a benchmark, it's not the one of the only big budget PC shooters (like Crysis) , why would it sell so much over time?Critical acclaim? Nope, 85 on metacritic is pretty average score these days.
[QUOTE="Teufelhuhn"]Arguing any of this without any numbers at all sounds like a giant waste of time to me.

There is a reason college professors don't allow students to use Wikipedia as a source ;)millerlight89/thread. Except nothing in my OP was from Wikipedia but from Crysis interviews. And tell that to the countless gaming analysts who only do what we're doing here, but somehow their oppinions are valued.
If someone doesn't want to see the truth they wont see it.
You know, fine, it will sell millions over time.
SP shooters on consoles tend to do that.
Launching at N.7 on the biggest market for console games is disastrous, for a game they wanted to sell 7 million copies off.
what truth are so desperately wanting everyone to see? That Crysis 2 failed financially? Who cares? If someone doesn't want to see the truth they wont see it.

No. Dead Space outscored it. It's about the same as MvsC 3 and Bulletstorm. Shogun II outscored it. Crysis was one of the few PC shooters to sell that much over a prolonged period of time, for obvious reasons. Crysis 2 is a different breed, it's a console shooter, and the sales will be that of console shooters. It's not going to sell millions over time, it's going to sell the most on the first few weeks. It's not going to sell as must as Black Ops. Are they crazy? CoD: Black Ops is an established francise on game consoles. It already has a follow from the first time it hit the XBox 360 at launch. Crysis 2 will sell over a million easily on consoles, but it's not going to sell 5-6 million if that's what Crytek is thinking. They should have released this closer to the holidays. It has already sold over 800K worldwide on console in just 2 weeks though. That's not bad.

If Bulletstorm was a sequel and the firstwas a sandbox style shooter with cutting edge graphics, would you still love it?
They expected to sell 7 million copies... They expected to score 94 in metacritic. I believe a lot of things went wrong.
The community is not very active it seens. Giving a quick look in Amazon, it's not top 10 anywhere. It is not on steam's top 20 played games. Their forums are just a trolling ground. Sales generally stop at 8 weeks from launch in consoles. At the end it should sell about maybe 2 million. In the PC it's not a good MP game, does not have mods, it's not a benchmark title... it has little value. I don't think it will have strong legs like the first one.
It was up for one week in March, Homefront was up for two weeks in March thus had twice as long to sell copies
First 3 weeks ~ 60% of game sales for majority of games. Dragon Age 2 was up for longer than both and sold worse than Homefront.
These numbers don't tell us anything really except that Homefront sold better than Dragon Age 2 at retail in the US. It has been high on Steam's top seller list for a while too, you cannot conclude it is a flop at this stage.
This pretty much sums it up.They expected to sell 7 million copies... They expected to score 94 in metacritic. I believe a lot of things went wrong.

The way I see it,Crytek got greedy and now it´s in a situation where a multiplatform game on three systems may not sell as well as when the franchise was only on the PC. Then again,it may sell around as much but even then, way far from their goal.
It's in an astoundingly halfassed state for a game that has been out for nearly a month. The silent treatment we're given by Crytek probably won't help drive sales either.
I don't know if it's a megaflop or not. Honestly, I don't care. I know I like it and I bought it.
I also know the naysayers convinced me from buying the first two Crysis games until much later. After playing the first two games I thought they (the naysayers) were a bunch of loons.
If I listened now to the naysayers of Crysis 2, I'd probably be thinking the same thing over again a couple of years from now.
This pretty much sums it up.[QUOTE="Masculus"]

Selling around as much would be bad considering the higher budget and advertisement cost. Please Log In to post.
