Nah, that doesn't sound fun.

[QUOTE="drinkerofjuice"]Saying that you made dumber posts is hardly an insult. I mean, it's the truth, after all ;)Slashless

inb4 more Drinkerofjuice butthurt. ;)

I forgot to add in a period. This indeed a grave, unforgivable grammatical error that will haunt me for the rest of my life.

We know drinky, I pointed it out and you got butthurt over it. Circle of (a butthurt) life rofl.

EDIT: You should also fix your above quote, multi-quoting isn't that hard. :P ;)

There have been way too many 10s this gen for me to agree. Especially when none of those games deserved their 10s; especially MGS4.

pfffffft review scores

Just a bunch of idiots thinking what they know about video games and metacritic sums up the idiocracy so people can laugh at all the video game reviewers.

Only good ones are AVGN and Angry Joe.

finalfantasy94

What about The Spoony One?

I hate that guy so much. I dont care much for joe ether but not in a hate way. I do enjoy AVGN mainly cause its not much of a review just an experiance watching play around with these games.

Let me guess: a FFVIII and X fan? I thought those reviews were hilarious.

na i didint even bother seeing those casue I know the type of person he is. I also remember giving him a semi review of other m but not by palying but watching a friend play. The reason I hate him is cause he comes off as "my opinion is right and thats that" type of person.

I recall him actually playing it otherwise he wouldn't comment on the gameplay. Either way whether u agree with him or not don't you think hate is a strong word?

Yes.

I have very strong feelings about the state of games criticism, and the 1-10 scale often hinders more than it helps. We're stuck with this idea that a 1-10 scale is the equivalent of American school grades, and that the entire lower half of the scale is associated with an F, while a great score of 8 is somehow indicative of a disappointment, rather than something to celebrate.

My goal for the reviews team in 2012 is to take back our scores, and to take back games criticism. I want an 8 to be what an 8 used to be in games criticism: a fantastic score. A score that says, "this game is great, and there's a good chance you should be playing it." I want those 9-range scores to be reserved for the truly special--the games that redefine expectations, the ones that define the years they come out, the ones we remember in a decade, when memories of others have long faded. A 7.5 is considered "good" so since when did a good game become a waste of time and money when the reviewer considers it to be "good". It's completely stupid.

[QUOTE="jsmoke03"] it did in the old review system...it said perfect...and why would you rate a game 5/5 or 10/10 if there are flaws...and thats why im for the .1 increment ratingStevo_the_gamer

What does that have to do with GTAIV though? They never said GTAIV was "perfect." And I agree with your last sentence there, which is why I'm all for getting rid of the term "perfection" all together. I think a game can still represent a 10, and manage to have flaws.

i mentioned gt 4 because the topic thread was titled is gamespot getting harsher with their reviews. i said no, they were getting softer because they give a game a 10 when it isn't a perfect game. Back in the day, when it was a 10, gs straight up says there wasn't a game that was as good as that one. and that this new rating system wasn't as good as the old one....thats all lol

so whats the difference between a 8.5 game and a 9 game? He can say they are redoing their reviewing process all he wants, the number scale system is horrible

But why reference a game that released four years ago and received a 10 when--at that time--it didn't even represent perfection? Clearly, a better example is looking at the Call of Duty games, and how they've received high marks while other games have been hit harder. The OP is talking about GS being more harsh within the past 12 months or so...

I think we're off the track here, the OP is saying GS recently decided to become harsher critics--which means GS was softer pre-recent events, thus you agree with that interpretation as do I. So... where does that leave us. lol
