Of course it is, but I still found it a solid console shooter which simply felt the most polished and refined out of the three games in the series when I played it at my friend's house. A solid 8.5-9.0dgsagI agree. It's a good game, but the way some people praise it. It's a little above mediocre to me.
Yes. At the time, I thought it was amazing. As I've said before. That polish wears off after the first few weeks. The only reason I still play Halo is to catch up with some of my friends who are casual gamers. I got Call of Duty 4 for Christmas, and it is amazingSo according to you Halo 3 is so overrated you gave it a 10

The only reason i think that it should not have gotten a 9.5 is because of it's disgraceful ending...UnrealSin_XI thought the ending was great.

me too, it ended the series nicely. i just wished cortana was with you more often throughout the game.

They are both short. Call of Duty's multiplayer is what makes it so amazing. There's much more depth in CoD than just shoot then melee, reload, repeat:)[QUOTE="JPOBS"]If halo 3 is overrated, so is mario galaxy, crysis, and any other game that has earned around the same score. Sants412In GAMESPOT'S eyes. Let's not forget..
like i said, if Halo 3 is overrated, so is every other good game.

It's the same exact gameplay.
ur opinion, i have cod4....the campaign...is just plain horrible...short as hell..no replayability whatsoever.....the MP gets old after a while as well, campers, random grandes flying around....it just get quite old.....and before u go all crazy, i have 1000/1000 on both gamesDante2710
i agree with the MP part. alot of it still reminds me of how CoD 2 plays online. its just modern now...

I believe that Halo 3 is overrated. The single player is great the first time through, but it lacks replay-ability. The multiplayer was great, until Call of Duity 4 came out. I would agree with the 9.5 the day it came out. But it quickly wears out. Opinions? -Sniper99-Wait, the single player is great the first time through, with no replayability? I think everyone was let down with their first time through, because you wouldn't get all the subtleties in one playthrough. But replayability....lmao. Four player co-op, skulls, metagame....it's probably the most replayable campaign yet.
Are you serious, another halo bashing thread. Why are people so persistent to bash halo 3? It's a good game ok. COD 4 is the one that overrated. Like I said before COD 4 offers nothing new other than perks NOTHING.
The single campaign in COD 4 is short and sweet but after that what do you do? The multiplayer while good get's old fast. So to sum it all up COD 4 is just COD 2 with new graphics, perks and a different setting WOW.

but lets be honest. No game could live up to halo 3's hype.
im one of the biggest halo fanboys out there and i say its overatted...for two reasons
1. way way too short, it feels like its finished when you most want it keep on going
2. that ending....while not nearly as bad as the halo 2 ending....it still doesn't give me the sense of closure

They are both short. Call of Duty's multiplayer is what makes it so amazing. There's much more depth in CoD than just shoot then melee, reload, repeat:)Yes both are great games but halo 3 is only a good for a console shooter, but its not god like or something else. I also forgot to mention that halo has a terrible online community full of little kids, cheaters and addicts so that destroy some of te fun.
You do realise that the poll is jacked. All the lems going to say no and all the hermits, cows and sheep are going to say yes(regardless if they have played the game). I think halo 3 is not overrated because of its subtle innovations. Okay history lesson:
Before halo, people said FPS couldn't be done on consoles and they would suck and have bad contols and when halo came out, it completely changed the way we play FPS on consoles and perfected the controls and innovated FPS games in all consoles(therefore bringing such games as timesplitters and Chronicles of riddick)
Before Halo 2, the hermits had only one excuse, that though FPS coud be done on consoles, it could never have a serious MP side and MP would be boring and it couldn't reach the epitome that was CS, and after halo 2, PC gamers completely lost their fav genre to consoles and though the PC FPS games are better, console FPS share the same popularity and mainstream action(bringing such titles as COD4, black and resistance).
Now halo 3 didn't innovate like its predecessors but it has things that will be marked for future fps games, like saving and uploading films, acessories used in FPS and forge(which shows us console will probably be able to make maps in the future).
And its only a matter of time before consoles reach to the current trend in PC FPS, which is huge open areas and sandbox type gameplay(which could be featured in the next halo, resistance or killzone).
Also, take into account the impact alo had on fps games(consoles and PC) with vehicles, melee cashing(also featured in goldeneye), overshileds, dual wielding on MP maps, granade spamming and uh.....exploitation on gitches to win maps.

That happens with every game. It's still a great game and a great finish to the trilogy, you are just getting bored of it because you've played it for a long time

It's the same exact gameplay.
not entirely true, but I guess if you're simply implying that you move and shoot things then MAYBE it could be considered the EXACT same. BTW, there have been some incredible improvements with the CoD franchise compared to the first one on the PC.
for me it was. im a SP only person though. i dont have gold and i dont generally play MP games on any platform.
so yeah...from a SP perspective..the game just feels so average imho. halo 1 was great a real big step up for FPSs at the time and a truly ambitous title. after that....bungie just stud still. it was like they were terrified to mess around with the formula and thats a terrible shame. so its the same 30 seconds...over and over and over again. that same 30 seconds we saw around 6 years ago. H2 and 3 could have easily been expansion packs for H1 imho. aterrible shame.
Singleplayer wise - YES.
Multiplayer wise - NO.
The singleplayer was extremelly average compared to many FPS offerings last year, though the multiplayer is exellent, and im surprised games like COD4 have overshadowed its MP, when its arguably the best out there on a console, let alone best suited for console gaming.
Still an AAA game though - but a 9.0 - nothing more or less.
I still see people saying halo 3's multiplayer is reload, shoot, melee, repeat. People that try to do that now get destroyed by people with battle rifles or other guns. In COD4 all you do is camp and wait for someone to come by and shoot them. so you can say COD4 is camp, shoot, reload, repeat. Plus after you kill a few people then you access the helicopter which is the most cheap way to get kills in the game. The helicopter ruins the experience. Plus when you play against people with the best guns its almost impossible sometimes to get kills which again ruins the experience. The matchmaking is horrible as newcomers can be pitted against experienced veterans and their experience gets ruined because they are constantly getting dominated by the ones that play this game like its their job.
I will say though that the single player experience in halo 3 is short but its still worth playing over and over again especially in 4 player coop.
