Its very noob friendly yes, but then again the "best players" are so limited by the basic mechanics, all thier doing that the noobs are not is pacing the maps/weapons ... thats the only real difference, that and I suppose quicker reaction times.

Well that would be skill, sorry its not super tactical. But it does require skill and isnt the fps for noobs, or any other silly moniker you want to give it. Hermits are so annoying lately... Still not on the level of cows atleast.

Dont worry, Im sure Hermits/Sheep/Cows think the exact same thing about lemmings atm ... you guys seem to think you own the place.

Well no, we own the cows though. They keep posting the blogs, and talking sales , and self-owning themselves over and over. Hermits act like the own the place, and that the pc is the holy grail of gaming. Mind you the pc does actually win year after year. Its just that hermits dont give credit where credit is due.

Probably.

Legendary solo was a breeze, was pointless on 4 player co-op even with plenty of skulls on. Don't even get me started about the lemkids playing the game online. ;/

Except that none of us have really said, "We're better than you". Heck, Meuk was asying, "the way the game works I could probably get quite a few kills on you easily." He didn't say he was better, he said the game facillitates noobs.

if the autoaim was taken away, and the hit detectionzone waslimited to the player models (not a six-inch deep invisible aura of hit-detection like it is now), the "experienced high-level players" of H3 would be absolutley nothing.

Wasnt that Bungie's goal in the first place? I thought they wanted to make a game with a small learning curve that almost anyone can just pick up and play.

Halo is like Smash bros.

Casuals can play it have a blast with it. Hardcore gamers can play it and master the skills required to play it well.

Thats the secret behind both of their successes. They are both very approachable games.

JPOBS

I agree. They are both popular because they did what most games strive to do. Be approachable so that if you want to you can just run and gun and have a good time doing it, but you want more than you can dive in and gain every little advantage by practice and strategy. Neither are perfect (I actually hate Smash Brothers, but give it props since it is popular with many people, and Halo 3 feels to familiar for my taste, but the gameplay is good, just familiar), but they both offer a good pickup and play experience and an equally good "masters" experience for those who want more hardcore play.

Cod4 = if you move and shoot a player who is standing still u will miss some bullets unless you use aim sight whichhighly reduces ur speed and the speed you aim with, the person standing still gets the best aim

in halo you stand, you jump, you fart, ur aim will always be still, standing still will not give u an advantage...but more likely get you killed because standing still in halo 3 is stupid, whatever you do just keep running

Well duh. Halo 3 isn't supposed to be as realistic as Call of Duty 4.

COD4 and realistic don't belong in the same sentence.

I wasn't really implying that Call of Duty 4 was realistic. I was just saying that Halo 3 is less realistic than Call of Duty 4 so that's why I said as.

I think the game takes little skill to master, I barely play it and i've mastered it already and its just become extremely boring. I don't even play the MP anymore, Legendary poses more of a challenge.

The ai in FEAR is better, although FEAR gets boring pretty quickly due to the repetive level design and the poor Half-life 2 style puzzle elements.

Control the map as in camp the ebst weapon spots or best "Crouch n pounce spots" ... the games you are refering to are ETs/Battlefields/Team Fortress where controlling the map is about the individual classes abilities and skills, much less .... "my weapon is better than yours".

Its not for noobs but it certainly isn't one of the most hardcore FPS out there. The difference between Halo and other more Hardcore FPS are the controls. Simply put there are no limitations put on to the player via PC Controls but when playing FPS on Console you are essentially playing limited and restricted due to the lower efficiency of the control input.

I'm beggining to see a pattern here, everytime this is mentioned, the typical lemmigns say "They must be noobs, or must get owned" ... yet I'm complaining about the gameplay being too easy ... it doesnt make any sense ...

I get owned more often In UT3 , or the various Battlefield/ET/TF2 games .... yet I jump into Halo 3 on the console for the first time and do very well .... yet ... im ... the .... noob...

Define skill, I had enver touched a console version of Halo before, neither had my mate, but we are already at skill lvl 19 of team doubles from 2 days , I win most slayer matchs .... wheres the skill? I just use common sense, the game is so limited by "Rock/paper/Scissors".

For example .... you both have starting gear ... whats to do other than spam a grenade at them? Holy your trigger down while aiming at them while running towards then meleeing...

Its the same 3 moves over and over again , yea ok on the ICe level you can use guirilla tactics with the whole "weird" "Hai I can crouch and go off radar and wait arounda corner with the insta-gib shotgun in your face" ... thats about it...

Other than that, its all about the weapon/position whoring.

isn't that just like any other mp? i play bf, cs: source, day of defeat, unreal tournament, quake, all the same.

Um no, in CS there is this thing called recoil...

Um no. Game is easy to learn but hard to master. I call bs on anyone that honestly is getting 30 kills a game no problem.

The game is very good and has a very good competition level. It just happens to be easy for casuals to pick up and learn.

If Halo 3 is a FPS for noobs.

Whats Killzone, timesplitters, and haze....

My bad, Brutes. You know what I'm talking about anyway.

And the AI is garbage. They don't flank you, they don't provide covering fire for each other, they don't advance on your position and try and flush you out. The stronger enemies stand still behind cover, especially after you take out their shields. The grunts run around screaming most of the time. The snipers are stationary, they don't move or take cover. Dodging a grenade is hardly good AI.

I'm playing the game on Legendary right now, I just beat the scarab in the desert area and am going up the ramps towards the Cartographer and am in the middle of fighting a Brute who is cloaked. Not too difficult since I'm carrying a frigging fuel rod gun. I can start typing out the lines of dialogue I hear, if you want?

i remember killing 15 people (my teammates were on the other side of the map, i was inthe enemyrespawn hiding lol, not spawn killing coz they choose to try and kill me) ALONE in a room in cod4 beta, map overgrown, had a sniper, stabbed enemy from front who came to kill meandpicked his m4rifle, then started killing, tried to use different angles so i can shoot em before they see me (they had to come up from stairs, that was the only way or they could nade me through windows which they did later lol)...things like these arent possible in halo 3 coz there is NO room with 1 entrance, it all required skill, if they had brain they could use flash bang or smoke.....they didnt they kept coming and i kept killing, then finally someone with brain throwed a nade through window which got me........if only thre was a save film option to save all that awesome moment, or to take pics of all the bodies lying on floor

also i managed to stab 3 people from front by using flash bang so these are the things if you use properly give you upper hand, using nades at right time, i have killed several people with rifles (with me having a sniper) by using right equipment like flash bang

Think about this guys, in a game like halo 3, the outcome of battles is not or barely decided by luck. Therefore, it's fully up to the players what the outcome is (I'm talking from a standard red vs. blue view point by the way). So, you need as much skill to win as the opponent possesses. Therefore, you need as much skill for this game as there is opposition.

Simply said, you only think you've mastered a game because the opposition is not as good as you are, you just haven't found someone that's better than you (and there's plenty of those players). This counts for practically any fps.

Once again, look up "Halo 2 noobified" on Youtube, and youll see just what could have been. Imagine a Halo 3 MP with NO autoaim, hitboxes that could have been limited to the sillouette, and melee attacks that don't make you fly foreward like a magnet. If Halo 3 relied on actual realistic precision like Halo 1, it would finally give meaning to the word "skill" used in the same sentence as Halo 3 MP.

It's funny really.

The only ones that have any right to complain about halo 3s multiplayer is PC users (because wii and ps3 users don't have any better online shooters, no, be quiet, seriously I'm not interested you just don't.) which amusingly the biggest whine i hear is the hit boxs are to large, auto aim sucks and so on and so on.

Yet i consistently hear about how the PC has the superior controls, blaa blaa blaa. So, as a console has harder controls is it not logical to dumb it down a bit? Does that mean it's any easier? No, not in my book it means the controls are harder to work with and there compensating for it.

Probably why halo flops on a pc, with a mouse it probably is stupidly easy and lame. Anyone who seems to think it's about who gets what weapon and nothing else, really doesn't know anything. Being a level 19, 20 or even 25 isn't anything, that's casual level IMO. I'm sitting at level 29 now and it's starting to get a bit more challenging but as there are people up at level 50, i'd imagine they'd walk all over me if i came across one.

People need to stop hating on it honestly, it's the best online FPS shooter the consoles have and the closest anyone has come to a PC shooter, with any luck over developers wil try and follow in it's footsteps and perhaps improve on some of it's "faults".

Control the map as in camp the ebst weapon spots or best "Crouch n pounce spots" ... the games you are refering to are ETs/Battlefields/Team Fortress where controlling the map is about the individual classes abilities and skills, much less .... "my weapon is better than yours".

Power weapons are rarely placed in the best positions. And, Halo 3 is balanced enough for every weapon to have its counter. Unlike Halo 2, you can kill anyone with the weapon you spawn with. You just have to know how and when to use it. I rarely see anyone go on killing sprees with the sword/sniper or even rockets. The best thing to rely on in Halo is teamwork.

Halo is like Smash bros.

Casuals can play it have a blast with it. Hardcore gamers can play it and master the skills required to play it well.

Thats the secret behind both of their successes. They are both very approachable games.

That's the truth pretty much yes. I've played enough of the game to know that too.

[QUOTE="MoldOnHold"]Any non-casual or veteran player will tell you that Halo requires skill to be good at it. :|h575309

Other than that, its all about the weapon/position whoring.

lol at thinking lvl 19 is high at all :D

I didnt think it was high, since its only enough to unlock level 1 officer ... but I got up there so quickly, and the people I was versing before that were complete walk-overs mostly, there was 1 or 2 teams that put up a good fight, and we was beat twice.

My point was, ive versed what you consider "Noobs" .... considering I didnt have to try very hard to get there ... using the same tactics the entire way through, even the teams taht beat us did, only that slightly bit faster.

CreepyBacon

Actually Resistance rivals Halo 3 in terms of its online. Its custom/ranked games has a better setup, more maps, no scrub vehicles or powerups, more players allowed, clan support, and you actually need skill when getting in a gun fight, none of this "when the reticle turns red, hit him in the head" garbage. However, the game is inherently unbalanced because of the stronger race in the chimera. The game is definitely not noob-friendly and new players are quick to say there are no tactics or strategies in the game because of how quickly you die and it seems like one big cluster ****.

isn't that just like any other mp? i play bf, cs: source, day of defeat, unreal tournament, quake, all the same.

Um no, in CS there is this thing called recoil...

i know. halo 3 has recoil as well. not near as much because you are a friggin superhuman. people seem to forget that. you are MASTER CHIEF you're 6'7 and your armor alone weighs almost a thousand pounds. and in cs all you have to do with the m16 is go in a tight circular motion and duck to get it in a specific spot. ak is a bit different you aim at the knees and start from the right and move quickly left to right.

Just because you prefer realistic shooters, doesn't mean Halo doesn't take skill. Realistic /= skill.

[QUOTE="kevy619"]

[QUOTE="mingo123"]halo barely requires skill....there is barely any cover, you go in an open area you die....you get 1 kill or 2kill then ur most likely todieso basically if you kill a hardcore player next thing will be that you got killed by a noob so basically everyone is hardcore in that game lol....you kill someone in front of you, the next guy will be waiting behind you, you cant live long..just keep running and shooting, if someone comes from behind you die, if someone is infront of you, whoever shoots first gets the kill mingo123

What game is much different from that? Unless you are good enough to get out of harms way your going to keep dying.

hmmm games like cod4, just sprint to cover and wait for the enemy to come to you, in halo3if you find cover, someone will come from behind you, or above you lol or from below or left or right :D so the best thing to do is run and keep praying no one is behind you....like i said its really hard to explain but believe me you can get away from these types of things in cod4 and many other games....halo 3 is noobish...there is no hardcore player.....the levels are all open mostly you are clearly visible from far away no matter what (sandtrap)....tell me one place in halo 3 which is safe for you to stand and snipe from....just 1 place...there ISNT...no cover, you kill an elite player, then someone noob kills you from back or above or below......

I dotn understand this post.

Halo 3 is nooby because you can get killed from anywhere and people behind you, but CoD4 isnt nooby because snipers can hide out all day and never get found?

What the ****?
