Is Resistance 2 technically superior to Gears 2? Sure seems like it.

I haven't played either game, but from the videos I have seen on the internet, it seems that Resistance 2 is a much more grand-scale game with a lot more going on and better physics. Resistance also seems to have better artistic value and better colors, which seem to give it a better overall appearance than Gears 2. Gears 2 seems like a good game, but Resistance 2 just seems technically superior.

Opinions?

Owned both, played both, I prefer Gears 2. The AI seems smarter in Gears 2 than in R2, but R2 does have better weapons. bez2083

Enemy AI is not bad in R2, they actually take cover, they run for hiding places and most of all, they just focus all their attention on pwning you.

HAving said that, yeah R2 is technically better on many aspects, like the MP is really well done. IMO it's setting a bar with 60 players matches and 8 players co-op with insane amounts of enemies on screen. But I guess sometimes it feels not so great in the graphics department, although they are really good IMO.

Resistance 2 has better textures. Its the first game that when you can stand up close to an object and the textures never get blury.infamous_27

R2 does have muddy textures in a lot of areas of each environment...

Graphically GeoW2 > R2

Technically R2 > Geow2 (60 player online and 8 player online co-op)

I liked R2 better. The singeplayer game seemed a lot more epic, like I was actually in a war:)-Sniper99-

True that, but just because I don't own the console it doesn't mean I get to play it for a very limited time.... see my friend is the kind of person who can lend me his stuff to play a game, not for 1-2 hours, but for days... weeks if I ask him. Not that I need weeks to see how both games play and emit a judgement though, a couple of hours is enough.

I see and I agree with you. However, you can't deny that a nomination can prove technical superiority, while sales don't.

Kinda like the oscar for best FX, just because (just an example, not saying it's true) The Dark Knight sales more it has better FX than LotR.
