They aren’t. This crossplay complaint started like a month ago and Sony recently said: “We hear you guys and we are working on a solution”.

Please tell me how this is “arrogant”?

You guys truly are a vocal minority and Sony is not acting like a bad guy at all when they have an awesome system with awesome games coming out all the time.

Sony have not become the "bad guy" of anything. This issue of crossplay has certainly been sensationalized by the media.

Don't blame Nintendo, blame third party companies. They could have done like they did with Nintendo and drop support for Sony consoles. Sony consoles won't survive long without third party support. Instead they allowed Sony to reign free, and they're mad that they can't keep Sony on a leash anymore. I honestly laugh when Sony disses third party companies and rejects them. Mostly because the cross play issue doesn't affect me so who cares? Also because they dropped Nintendo for being difficult, yet they're allowing Sony to go around pulling stunts like this? To be honest, they deserve it. They have to be a slave to Sony, meanwhile Nintendo is getting on just fine with or without them.

I know you were referencing their partnership gone wrong, but it isn't Nintendo's fault that Sony is pulling stunts like this. If third party companies wanted Sony gone, they could have stopped support for them. Sure Nintendo motivated them to enter the console race (which I think they were planning on doing anyway without Nintendo, but meh.), but third party companies gave them a launch boost and allowed them to stay. Nintendo's not making games for their consoles, so how are they keeping them around?

Just make the PS5 BC and ill be happy.

Yes, they are. Because of their bad behavior and attitude this gen, and even though I went with PS4 this time I'm not buying a PS5, and will instead go back to Xbox next gen.

They weren't founded off of rebellion. They continued their development after Nintendo backed out. Which recouped their money and they did quite well.

Third parties aren't going to ignore a platform that sells their games. That's just crazy talk.

Sony's going around pulling stunts like not doing crossplay with the other consoles which has been a thing since 2001? Some of you guys are too thirsty about why you want crossplay, and it's obvious.

I'm rarely on SW, and a vast m9of people that want crossplay are Xbox Fanatics and lonely Switch gamers.

None of these companies are progamer, they are anticompetitive and Pro profit. Xbox wants Sony to open up PSN so they can say you don't need the other console to play with friends.

Gating in the online community like Donald Trump wants to do with his Nationalist agenda. Just like with the world, online communities are better when they share and engage their communities. I don't want some suit telling me I can't play Minecraft or any other game with a friend or relative who owns a Switch or Xbox One or PC instead of a Playstation system.

In the past I kind of relied on Playstation systems to give me those third party Japanese games, but now with Switch getting them as well, I don't need Playstation for that anymore. And then there's Xbox, and Microsoft has shown that they care more about high quality than Playstation these days in the console arena.

Essentially, Sony has lost touch with reality and their customers, and people should demand better from a market leader instead of hiding in complacency while soldering and defending a bad company over blind loyalty.

Nintendo and MS aren't in the big 3 of gaming, why do people call them that? The current big 3 in terms of gaming are Tencent, Sony and Apple in that order. Actually if you just restrict it to console gaming then still Nintendo won't be in the top 3, both Activision and EA are ahead of Nintendo.

MS then: We are slightly ahead of PS3, PS3 having hard time .. we dont see how crossplay will benefit us other than Sony, we dont see how having our Xbox exclusives on PC will benefit us since games selling so good.

I can’t say I care too much about crossplay, but there would be zero excuse for the PS5 to not be BC. At a time when Microsoft is offering BC across 3 generations of consoles, clearly leading the way with excellent software-based emulation that enhances old games with higher resolutions, Sony must at the bare minimum allow PS4 games to run on PS5.

Nintendo has, in my mind, been even more anti-consumer than Sony but for some reason gets treated as the darling of the video game industry. This includes Virtual Console games not carrying over between console and handheld, no VC at all for Switch, no BC of any kind on Switch, downloadable games only playable on one system as opposed to being easily shared on PS4/Xbox One, weak digital game sales, etc. I still remember those weird “use limit” demos on 3DS that you could only play a limited number of times.

Which makes no sense from a business standpoint. That's like Burger King being allowed to sell Big Macs.

No EA Access, NO BC, No changing your gamertag, Trying to steal the Copyright of the term Let's Play, charging for multiplayer and still has yet to produce any good multiplayer games. We could go here. This is not so much about cross play multiplayer, it is locking your account so you cant take your progress with you on a game Sony had nothing to do with to another console even if you buy the game twice.

Sony got lucky with MS past management's missteps, and simply do what they do. They have a capable console and pay for multi plat deals, and dangle games over user bases heads for 4-10 years at a time. They have done nothing compared to Nintendo and Xbox.

They are cocky and hope for the good of all gamers, they change their ways or it bites them in the ass!

I don't know who you think I am, but I'm not for cross play. I honestly don't care. The only multiplayer online games that I play are: Call of Duty zombies mode, Don't Starve Together, and Mario Kart 8. None of which offer cross play. Other games I play are local multiplayer or single player, which don't have cross play. The only game I'll jump into that has the cross play controversy is Fortnite, and I can play it with my brother while he's on his laptop, so meh. To be honest, I can also play Fortnite on my PS4, but I'll wait for the Switch to get motion controls since it's a superior way of playing.

The only thing I criticized Sony for surrounding this thing was account locking.

Crossplay may benefit "gamers" but at the same time Sony is not in it to please gamers, they are in this to make money. And why would Sony enable sales of Xbox´s and Switches. Sony is not number 1 for nothing, and they will continue their dominance as long as MS and Nintendo keep messing up.

Also, Pedro, do you realise that MS And Nintendo are losing a huge selling point, like with the whole Todd Howard crossplay, why does it matter what Sony does? if Howard wants crossplay, do it on the Xbox, pc and switch and leave out sony.

Its not utter BS if you your self says its benefits gamers. Not sure what is "gamers" though. If something benefits gamers I am all for it regardless of who is doing it. Crossplay is inevitable. Fighting it is a waste of time. Its almost as if people like yourself is from a different timeline in which networks are made to separate users and ISPs block communication with other networks. But gaming is backward thinking in so many ways and fanboys are the root cause because they are still trapped in the 80-90s.

It’s quite telling how the ones who supposedly don’t care about crossplay are the ones who are doing the most ranting and raving about it. They trying their hardest to write false narratives and so hung up on what happened in the past. Such a childish way of looking at things. It’s all kind of sad really.

Who says Crossplay is inevitable? because so far i have not seen anything even remotely close to that and no signs that say it´s coming. In fact, crossplay is a pipedream and as long as there are multiple consoles manufactures out there, there will not be one ounce of business sense in allowing crossplay.

Also, you really think it was the case Howard would come out and blame Sony? in fact, that he came out and did it, confirms Sony´s position and it justifies them not allowing crossplay.

If it was inevitable Bethesda would just make cross-play between Xbox, pc and switch, And let Sony be the odd man out.

Inevitable does not equate to now but that it would happen eventually. Sooner rather than later. The market expects this just like you expect to communicate with people on a network different to yours. Its not like the PS4 doesn't already support crossplay, so this behavior as if its something unfounded is nonsensical.
