@storm_of_swords: The difference is this time around PS4 has plenty of superb exclusive games on the market and a enormous lead is sales from multiplatform titles.
Same with Nintendo, great line up of games.
Now the question is where does this put Microsoft?
Don't believe everything you read online.
I think that the PS2 had a much better lineup of exclusive games than the PS4 and the PS2's lead over the competition was far greater than the PS4's lead, but none of that stopped Sony from losing it all during the transition to the PS3 due to their own arrogance, so I really don't see what is different here.
Sony has already won this generation and it's too late for that to change just like it was too late for anybody to catch up with the PS2's dominant lead. But I stand by what I said that I think that Sony has been starting to go down a path of arrogance and anti-consumer attitude that is very similar to how they were acting during the transition between the PS2 and the PS3 and that ultimately lead to them taking a huge fall and I think that history will repeat itself during the transition between the PS4 and PS5.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has been laying the groundwork for a comeback. It's not going to happen with the Xbox One; like I said, it is too late for that, but I think that it will happen when they launch their next gen console. What Microsoft has been doing is building up good will with their recent pro-consumer attitude and how hard they have been working to show customers and developers that they have been fixing everything that customers and developers were previously dissatisfied with while also delivering great new innovations and features while Sony has just been in cruise-control mode. This year, they have also laid the groundwork for addressing the one big criticism that anybody could still fairly make about them which is their lack of exclusives. All of the new companies that they just bought should have some great exclusives ready to go when the next Xbox launches. All of this groundwork that they have been laying won't pay off this generation, but I strongly believe that it will pay off when their next console launches.
