I mean it comes with all the stuff the PS3 does and at like half the price, right?BananaNutsOut of the box? No. Not in my opinion. When a console boasts its HD ability and comes out of the box with no component or HDMI cables(no HD cables of any sort).. then no, the ps3 fails out of the box.

for me blu ray makes the ps3 a better deal. i just love movies!ps3_owns_360Wiiif he's talking bout out of the box, which it looks like he may be :) Then your blu-ray movies will look the same if not worse than my DVD's on my 360. :)

Dude are you kiddin dvd looks like crap compared to blue ray you can actually see wrinkles on faces and scars close up it's that good.
Xbox360 no WIFI and no Blu-ray.
PS3 no component or HDMI cables.
So which is more important to you.
You buy a console for games. But I honestly think it's laughable Sony would sell a console that is totally hyped as next gen and not include an HDMI
cable with it. I bought mine on the interenet for $7 dollars 6ft cable. So they can afford it!
Of course is a far better deal than PS3 or PC (and a vastly better deal than Wii)
You can play games like Fable 2, Alan Wake, Mass Effect, Gears 2, Dragon Age, Witcher, Final Fantasy 13, Star cean 4, Lost Odyssey, Two Worlds Temptation, Venetica, Kameo, Viva Pinata 2, Banjo 3, Tales, Last Remnant, Bioshock, Gothic 4, Tekken 6, Aliens CM, Dungeon Hero, Dead Island, Resident Evil 5 etc
plus a real avalance of other huge titles and RPG's, all for just 199$ and with some great bundles on top
It is unbelievable really, i would pay 1000$+ for a system that has all those games myself, giving it at 199$ is a steal, especially since all models have backwards compatibility, while some PS3 models do not support PS2 games at all

tek tek tek... thought we agreed to not argue anymore :) PS3 doesn't come with ANY HD cables out of the box, so .. like I said, your fancy blu-ray movies are going to look the same as my DVD's do... except my DVD's are going to be upscaled where as you're gonna be watching your fancy blu-ray movies in 480i.where do you get RE5. Bioshock, Final Fantasy XIII, Witcher, and Tekkon 6 on that list? The only thing I can think of is that BS PS3 looks the worst, but BFD, IMO, we've all beaten it already anyway.Of course is a far better deal than PS3 or PC (and a vastly better deal than Wii)

Depends what you want to do. Strictly for gaming, yes I would say the 360 is a hell of a better deal than the PS3. However if you're a movie buff and want a decent future-proof Blu Ray player - buy the PS3.DonPerian
If i wanted movies i would get a far cheaper BR player and a 360 for the games

Well if you're comparing the price then feel free to switch the sign the other way around.

No offense but neither you or the ps3 guy can read, or you both are too busy trying to be argumentative to actually read what I said..
So let me break this down for ya..
If you go to the store and buy one PS3($400) and one Blu-Ray movie($30.00)... thats $430, keep that in mind. I can go to the store and buy one Xbox 360 Pro($300) and one DVD($10) and my DVD will look as good as the Blu-Ray movie will. and for only $310
Let me explain why, from what I said, and I did say this...
You buy your $400 ps3 with its composite cables, hook it up to your ANY type of TV(can be HD, doesn't matter) and put in your fancy Blu-Ray movie(we'll say Dark Knight cuz its a cool movie)... and guess what.. its going to display in 480i.. no matter how fancy of a TV you have,. Now, lets say I hook up my 360 pro(which I have) with its component cables and put in my $10 movie(don't matter which one) and its going to display in atleast 480p(if I'm hooked up to a HDTV,which I am). Now thats out of the box, no extra expenses(minus the TV, but it doesn't matter).
So, which is the better value out of the box?
Feature price-wise, the PS3 wins...it comes with built in wifi, PSN is free, Blu-ray drive, rechargeable controller out of the box, and you can watch youtube, surf the internet, and share games easily with other friends who also have a PS3. Game-wise, atm the PS3 isn't doing so hot, but a lot of great games are coming out in 2009 and 2010 such as KZ2, etc. However, with the 360, if you want a wireless network adapter, it costs 100 bucks, an HDDVD drive costs (?) dollars(HDDVD lost to Blu-Ray), the rechargeable batter pack costs an extra 20 bucks, XBL costs around 50 bucks per year, and you have to buy the elite 360 model if you want to use HDMI with your TV, and add on to that the HDMI out on the elite is an older version (?). Gamewise, the 360 library is really good, (look at Obamanian's list, though some games aren't even out yet in his list like FFXIII, etc.) isukunoAll xbox models now come with HDMI outputs.. not just elites.

EDIT: I'm still partially correct, you have to buy the elite version to use HDMI out of the box as it's the only model that comes with one... Oh yea, and I forgot hard drives...the PS3 uses laptop HDDs, while the 360 uses special HDDs that are produced by microsoft and ridiculously overpriced...

You get what you pay for
This is like the XBL Vs PSN debate, XBL has more features for a price
Out of the box:
PS3 ($400)- Wifi, rechargeable controller, Harddrive, free online and blu-ray player
360 Arcade is half the price but lacks all those features, however you will not necesarilly need them so it's up to the person to decide which is the better deal, if you want the extra features the PS3 is the better choice, if you don't need them the 360 is the one for you.
Then again the whole point of a console is to play games so the one with the games you prefer is the better deal.

Um... it kinda does cost that much dude. Or maybe a little bit more expensive, but really, it shouldn't be a factor at all. :?
Why not compare the xbox 360 thats of equal price, $400 ps3 (out of the box like you said) can't do HD, whereas the $400 Xbox 360 does full HD out of the box :)You get what you pay for

That's great and all but the OP said nothing about "out of the box". Out of the box you can't play games (Unless maybe they're bundled with the console). Same thing Wifi and blu-ray player while the 360 has none
Yes you need an HDMI for the PS3 but you would need a wifi adapter for the 360 and there is no option for blu-ray player.
You don't want those features? Probably not but someone might which is why no matter how people spin it there is no answer, it depends on who's buying and afterall these are consoles so the one with the games you like the most is the better deal.
For you the 360 is probably a better deal because you have no interest in blu-ray and have no need for wifi, that however is not the same case for me since my only option for online play is through wifi and I'd rather buy an HDMI than a wifi adapter. This is just an example.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that you can play online on the PS3 out of the box so it's between paying once for HD gaming or paying once every year for online gaming. It always comes down to the person's taste at the end.

Again, I don't know whether you're being sarcastic or not (sorry if you are), but your defense is absolutely ridiculous. If a person can afford to drop down $400, $10 wouldn't be a problem, would it?

With your same logic, PS3 for 400 and CoD4 for 30, and 360 for 300 and COD4 for 30. You have limitless play for 430 dollars and limited play for 330 dollars. See what I did there? Your out of the box logic is illogical.Online is free on the PS3 but not on the 360, which essentially means that the 360 costs just fifty bucks less than the PS3. Then, if you need to hook up your 360 to the internet wirelessly, it's another hundred bucks for the adapter, which would actually mean the PS3 costs less. Personally, I think that the PS3 is a better deal -- plus, the 360 will be obsolete in a couple years anyway. bluej33
But if you do not need all those things, and play offline only, like i did with N64,PS1,PS2, xbox anyway, 360 costs just 199$ to play the best games, like FF13, Alan Wake, Mass Effect etc etc etc
[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]Wihout a doubt. The 360 is the best console deal this generation.isukunoI hope you're being sarcastic?
Nope, I own all 3, so I think I have the best idea of which will net you more play time, and that's the 360, so therefore it's the best at its inexpensive price.

That's like saying if you don't want to play games, just watch movies, PS3 wins because of Blu-ray.
And Arcade is a sorry way for Microsoft to make XBOX look cheaper.
Online gaming is a huge feature in this generation, and I'm sure most, if not all gamers put this in mind when purchasing a new console.
