well, the hype was astounding and as a wii owner, i must say i am very disappointed. i thought the interaction was real but now it seems fabricated and unresponsive..i mean, u swing the remote and it's duplicated onscreen..but that's it. there is no other interaction like let's say the speed the ball is traveling(there is no difference between a gentle wrist movement and flat out powerful hit in a tennis game of wii sports) nintendo gave the impression to the public that whatever u did in reallife could be done in the game. also, the graphics are not as good as they could be. couldn't nintendo had sacrificed profits and made the wii a bit more powerful? with all that said, i am still a nintendo fan and love their products. actually everything you said can be done on Wii. Wii sports was a tech demo and a launch game. Real 1:1 movement can be done on Wii. It's all a matter of time and when developers can get the controls to work properly.

Bingo. Nothing is quite hammered out properly with launch titles. Controls, graphics, nothing. For example, compare Oni, an early PS2 brawler, to The Warriors on the PS2. World of difference between the two. I fully expect such an improvement as the Wii continues to mature.

Yes, it is terribly over-rated; but that's not saying it's bad.

Absolutely the Wii is overrated. Sooner or later the novelty of the Wii-mote will wear off.

i hope u guys are right. i mean i was playing baseball and i was bothered by how they told u the mph of the ball, and it was inconsistent and incorrect as a whole(just has a set amount of numbers like 65 and 78). also, i am not a graphics whore but wii graphics should be better..not gears of war quality, but a huge upgrade from gamecube. even super mario galaxy doesn't look much better an an xbox game.

Right now it seems over-rated unless you have some people to play with you. It's like sex, its fun when you have someone else to play with your wii rather then play with it yourself ;)

It's not overrated at all. The Wii is a good console and definitely worth owning. For those who keep questioning the Wii as being just another GameCube, tell me if the GC has Wifi, the Wii Channels, 512 megs of memory, bluetooth for wireless controllers, the capability of playing DVD size games that the Wii does, etc. Stop using that argument. The Wii is not a GC.

[QUOTE="Uptown"][QUOTE="RahnAetas"]It's probably more underrated than overrated. People think that it's a GC/PS2 with motion sensing. That's not quite overrated. At least I don't think so by most definitions.RahnAetas

it really is a GC with motion sensing...what exactly does it do so different besides the controller...id like to know.

I wasn't aware it was supposed to do something different.  I mean I assume it's there to... you know... play games.

Ya, What does the PS3 do different? It adds to the graphics, online, and motion....same with the wii

As much as I love mine yes in the sense that all the games use the motion sensitiviy but in reality there's maybe 4 games actually worth playing on the system.

I believe it is, for real gamers. For non gamers, its the best thing since sliced bread. One of my friends daughter asked for one for Christmas. She loves it. My room mate has one. We use it occasionally to play an intense round of battle tanks on wii play, but thats about it. Wii Sports was a horrible excuse for a game. Monkey ball was fun for about 30 minutes. Trauma center about the same. Zelda was awesome for a while, but we soon resorted to hitting the A button to attack because swinging the controller just got monotonous. Not saying its not an awesome game, just saying the controller doesnt really add anything and kind of gets in the way. I dont think wii will ever be able to deliver what the 360 and ps3 can. I just dont see the wii ever making me as excited or captivated as gears and resistance makes me. I hope it can do really well. I was so excited about the prospect of seeing a shooter on there or some revolutionary new game that would make the controller seem awesome, but I just cant see it happening. If that thing asks me to please point the controller at the screen one more time im going to pile drive it into the ground

I own a Wii and I believe its overrated.  It offers nothing new from last gen besides the controller.  To put it in lamens terms.... Wii = GameCube with internet (and no online play yet) and motion stick controller.....seriously.Uptown
Even though it's more than twice as powerful as the GC, with free online play, the VC, online media functionality and Connect24. :| Yea, just like the GC. You fail.

it is, and I'm a Nintendo fan. The price is insanely high and the game library far too small, but that will all change as the console's life progresses.

I think it's popular right now because of the novelty of it all... but that the novelty of motion sensing will wear off in about a year's time... after Wii sales have gone through the roof, but the sales of 360 and PS3 will quickly catch up.

As a loyal Nintendo owner (owned everything from NES up, I will say the Wii is overrated. The gamers are constanty going on about this and that, but guess what, the games arent that fun to me. I still have faith in the console and hope I'm proven wrong. Go Nintendo!immortality20

Nintendo used to have the most amazing titles with mario, zelda metroid and more but... i feel the quailtity of those games is now declineing and nintendo is not being inventive enough to come out with new great titles like on the N64 and earlier consoles. at least other two systems are coming out with new titles.... the titles for ps3/360 aren't inventive or anything but at least there are new titles to be expierienced.

But it's showing console developers (Sony and Microsoft) that they can push out the same hardware for 8 years straight, making people spend $250 halfway through to get a new controller, and still sell marvelously. And just to let you know, Wii overall has the worst reviews of games of all 3 at this point. And power does matter because the Wii will not be getting Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Alan Wake, Halo, or Gran Turismo because of its lack of power...

Graphics is good, but not when the overal price will be $600 or £425 for a PS3 with forced blu ray player. I own a wii and i believe it will deliver a good library of games, regardless of if its some graphical wonder or not. The wii shows that moving forward dosent always mean graphics now a days, why do you think the DS won?

Do numbers make something good?

Because according to you, Dreamcast was a terrible console, Arrested Development was a terrible show, and The Kinks are a terrible band.

[QUOTE="Skippyj9"][QUOTE="hyruledweller"]No, it deserves all its hype and sales its getting and finally showing ppl that graphics and power dont make a console.wavebrid

But it's showing console developers (Sony and Microsoft) that they can push out the same hardware for 8 years straight, making people spend $250 halfway through to get a new controller, and still sell marvelously. And just to let you know, Wii overall has the worst reviews of games of all 3 at this point. And power does matter because the Wii will not be getting Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Alan Wake, Halo, or Gran Turismo because of its lack of power...

last time i check madden on wii is better than ps3 and 306 power dosent matter. so we dont need mulit games

we get are own exlsuives...

aslo wii has a tripple a... and ps3 dosent so accodring to you ps3 has the worst reivews.

wow one game that got better review on wii.

Yeah, I'm real pissed I can't play Warioware on my PS3... 6.6 average for Wii... 7.4 average for PS3... (Metacritic.com)

What's the metacritic.com average for Zelda, another title you can't play on the PS3? :) Yea, exactly.

Because according to you, Dreamcast was a terrible console, Arrested Development was a terrible show, and The Shins are a terrible band.

No, im saying a console dosent have to have good graphics in order to sell, hence wii and DS. That dosent mean the PS3 or 360 are bad, it just shows that consoles can sell on more than just graphics.

[QUOTE="axt113"][QUOTE="poopinloop32"]Id say its a little overrated..I mean cmon..we all have to admit that the Wii is selling because of price and Wii Sports..once those die off.....

And it is a gamecube with Motion SencingDA_B0MB
 How will price die out? Its not like they're going to raise the price on it. As for Wii sports, the game is still in the top 10 in Japan, and its sold seperately there, so who knows how long its legs are, and you know other games will follow

They did with the PS3 in Canada... :?

That is SONY, nothing surprises me when it comes to them. . .

At present the software is not operating on the same level as the hardware, the console and controller are not overrated but the software is disappointing at present.

No, the Wii certainly deserves all the media and fan attention. It's a really great system and it will be my first Nintendo system since my dad's NES. gnutux

Wario Ware: uninspired graphics, no real plot, short story, beaten in 1-2 hours, low repaly value.
