I like the gamecube better

That's not what I was talking about. After all Nintendo could of made the Wii more powerful, while still making a profit on each unit.[QUOTE="Devil-Itachi"][QUOTE="TheSterls"]
You dont have to expect anything, If you are happy with buying hardware that is about 5 years old for nearly twice of what its worth then you can do it. Hell Nintendo will do great with fans like you.
nintendofan73
Making the Wii more powerful back then would not have made sense, Nintendo factored in Cost, Reliability and performance...
Evidently Nintendo made the right choices and beat Microsoft and Sony... Maybe those two companies should invest more in their software studios and actually make more quality games themselves.
I agree, just wasn't what I was talking about at the time.I actually think that within a couple of generation either Sony or Microsoft will bow out of the console making business, they basically go after the same customers, they both have lost a ton of money on loosing systems, eventually both corporations won't allow the game divisions to continue the cash bleeding.
Don't worry Nintendo will announce their new system within a year or two, this year is mostly about the 3DS, which will dominate. At this years E3 Ninty will cut the Wii price to either 149 or 129, they will announce the game lineup this year.
The next Nintendo console will be small sized, around 250 launch price, it will have internal storage and will have evolved motion controls, it should have the graphic capabilities of about a 360 maybe a touch better, but since it will be using a smaller processor die size it will run much cooler than the 360.
The days of any company releasing 400 dollar overheating consoles are over, that won't fly when going up against a very strong Nintendo.

360/PS3 helpmade video games on consolesprogress into high quality entertainment that rival films.
Dead Space has amore engrossing atmosphere than Metroid Prime 3.
Star Wars force Unleashed allows for destructive gameplay using the force through it's euphoria engine. The Wii version, has no suchthing.
Wii games are too arhaic for this gen.
i love the Wii right now it took 4 years for them to actually start coming out with games I like but i honestly hated last gen and the Gamecube. I think the Wii is much better. As for motion control I'm not really into it. I think its a cheap gimmick and the only interest I have is in the Kinect because there are no controllers. PS3's move might be better then the Wii's motion control but its just a carbon copy and I have no interest in it.

If PS3 and 360 helped spearhead games into quality that rivals films...does that mean PC passed up Pixar and Dreamworks in terms of quality?
Goldeneye had destructable objects and its on the Wii. That was nothing but a design choice for a mediocre game that is TFU 1/2.

Well those archaic Wii games have sold the most this generation, for all of that HD goodness and PC wanabe graphics, but not as good...
For all of that and Nintendo still beat them with old hardware and motion controls.
[QUOTE="emperorzhang66"]Yeah used love nintendo, hate the wii. Especially the idiots who didn't know what they were buying when it first came out and paid 500+ for it :/LegatoSkyheart
$500 for a Wii?
Where did they buy that at?
I remember in the uk when it frist came out, it sold out at alot of places, because i don't think they were expecting everyone to jump on it so quickly. It was christmas and you know what brats are like, i know of several people who bought the one that the prices were raised on purely because of low stock and it being christmas.Me, I've owned a Super Nintendo, a Nintendo 64 and a Gamecube and loved all of them...except the Wii
I disliked the fact that everyone had a PS2, so I bought an Xbox and a Gamecube instead. I owned about every major game that came out "Metroid Prime" "Super Mario Sunshine" "Pikmin" "Super Smash Bros" "Wind Waker" "Eternal Darkness" and my all time favorite "RE4"... those games were excellent and far exceed many of the Wii games that are out now sans "Super Mario Galaxy"
The Wii is just so subpar for me. Even when people say things like it still has hardcore titles, even those games aren't able to match any of the games I previously mentioned. "Mario Kart Wii" felt like a retread and a step back from "Double Dash" and the "Animal Crossing: Wild World" game was terrible.
I will be first in line to buy their next system if they ditch the Wii name, and ditch the motion controls. I know Sony beat them bad when they weren't well in with the casual market but Microsoft is now in the fold so I think they can keep the casuals with dual analog and HD just as well as they have with the Wii.
I disagree quite a lot. The Wii is by far my favorite console this gen (PC is my fave system).
For Nintendo systems I would rank them in this order SNES>N64>Wii>GC. I was in the same boat before, but that was before I started looking at what came out. It is not perfect however, 2008 was rather lackluster and 2011 doesnt look that promising, however 2009 and 2010 were excellent years for the wii. It could also use some more power, but then again so do all 3 consoles. Wii is the only console that does not feel like a watered down PC for me.
I'm fine with the Wii. It may not be the best console ever but there are lots of great games on it.
Right now, i'm just waiting for Wii 2 to come out and push motion controls to new heights.
Anyone expecting Nintendo to drop motion controllers isn't right in the head. You have the next step in gaming controls and you're just going to let it go?
Dual analog isn't going to be around forever. It has to go at some point. Then it will be motion controls' turn and so on and so forth until...
Minus the glasses...
Im curious as I see alot of people who support the Wii most who seem to be hardcore sheep and im curious why? First let me say Nintendo use to be by far the company I supported the most up untill the end of the Gamecube. The fact of the matter is they have some of the best franchises in gaming history and theres to many good memorys there not to like them as a company. But as general hardcore gamer are you glad the Wii has succeded and do you realize what it would mean if other hardware companies went down the same path as Nintendo? Theres several points I want to make and get peopels opinion.
1. You realize Nintendo is the only hardware company that does not sell there console for a loss? Thats right the 360 cost Microsoft nearly $550 to make each console at launch wich they sold for $400 it cost Sony nearly $850 to make each PS3 wich they sold for $600. It only cost Nintendo what was esitmated to be $160 which they sold each wii for $250. Ive made this point before and rabbid wii fans say things along the lines of "well thats just good business dont blame Nintendo" and the fact of the matter Is I dont blame Nintendo I blame the people that bought a repackaged Gamecube with a gimmicky remote that took them 4 years to get it to work the way it was meant to.( motion Plus).......... If everyone followed this formula we would have consoles that were nearly 5 years behind the current pc hardware at launch with stripped down features that basically make it only a gaming console. Im not sure why companys like Sony and Microsoft dont get a little more credit for offering more bang for there buck . Shouldn't consoles be made for gaming in the first place? What ever happened to getting a system just for the games on it? Besides, Wii isn't devoid of features. Also, I highly doubt that Microsoft and Sony would be selling their consoles for less than what it cost them to make it, otherwise they'd be out of business. (Although, Microsoft charges for Xbox Live, so...)
2. People say its all about the games and although the wii has some good games( mostly made by Nintendo) it plays a host to loads of shovelware, do you think it would have been better if Nintndo spent a little more money on the console and provided a higher quality experience? Could you honestly tell me the best wii games wouldnt be better on the PS3 or the 360? The reason Wii has so many bad games is because many developers see it as a way to make fast, easy cash. The Wii is actually an imppressive system, it's just that developers don't take any time to actually make decent games. Also, some of the best games for Wii require the Wii Mote, so, no, they wouldn't be better on 360 or PS3.
3. Of course Nintendo fans always point out that Sony and Microsoft are doing motion controls and hail Nintendoas the great innovator. But in all honesty motion controls started with the eye toy the wii just made it popular and as a gamer do you think its postive that any of these motion controls become a massive success? I would like each company to make some money off them as I dont want any of them to lose billions but I dont want them to become the focal point of the system . Well, at least the motion controls made the Wii more than just an upgraded version of its predecessor.
TheSterls
when nintendo stops focusing on motion crap then ill go get another nintendo console. Handhelds they are doing fine though.campzor
I know what you mean, as the DS is great, the 3DS looks phenomenal, and the Wii was just sort of different. I still enjoy the Wii greatly, but it is not EXACTLY what I would have wanted from Nintendo. That said, Motion is definitely not just a Nintendo thing now, and next gen it will be hard to buy a console that doesnt have motion controls I would assume. But honestly I think MS is going to be the most motion based and such, although who knows.
I used to love Nintendo. N64 was probably my favorite console. If they could make an HD version of that with a similar rockin library I would buy it. Instead we get shovelware.
I want a console where the focus is games... Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, SSB, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, STAR FOX, STAR FOX, Banjo Kazooie, Great third party games.
I know the Wii has some good games but the focus is the wii controller.

As great as some of the games on Wii are, I think the 3DS already has a lineup that is better than the Wii's. I feel the 3DS is going to be one of Nintendo's best systems to date :).
Some nintendo fans have missed the era of SNES and N64 and see the Wii as the ultimate Nintendo console.
Compared to the 360 and ps3, the wii is an inferior console and wasnt meant to compete with the market or keep up with the latest tech.

Ps. Not bashing anything just want some reasonable views.
* Nintendo isn't stupid to become last place for 3 gens in a row. When you buy a console, you buy it for the GAMES. Nintendo isn't a multimedia company like MS and Sony. Also, here we go with the same generic 4 year old nonsense with that GC repackaging, the Wii is 3x stronger than the Xbox. Proven by various researches. * Don't buy the shovelware * Eye toy isn't a motion controller like the Wiimote is. You should be open-minded for new things I like Nintendo just like I have always liked them, ever since the NES days.HD visuals don't make LBP a better platformer and SMG1/2 Mario agrees...[QUOTE="g0ddyX"]Some nintendo fans have missed the era of SNES and N64 and see the Wii as the ultimate Nintendo console.

While Super Mario Galaxy 2 gets a 10 here, LittleBigPlanet 2 gets the same 9.0 as the first game.
me, i grew up on with the NES and have subsequently bought every one of nintendo's consoles since then. i absolutely hate the wii though. aside from 10-15 exclusives, i could give a **** about the wii because they have basically 0 multiplatform support. it also doesn't help that the wii remote is the worse controller known to man. it has released some absolutely amazing games this gen though, but that's just not enough for me stay interested. my wife loved it though, albeit for a month, then the novelty wore off.
I can't say I hate the Wii but it definately doesn't get much play from me anymore, then again it was the same thing with GC I just played a couple of games on it but mostly played PC/Xbox/PS2. I think it's mostly because other systems really started dwarfing Nintendo's line-up in terms of non casual games, and the hardware couldn't keep up (at least with the 360). They just stopped offering what I wanted in gaming, but they got a whole group of people who normally don't play games to start playing on a regular basis so on that point I can at least say while I personally didn't really enjoy the last 2 systems that much I can at least respect them for what those systems have done for gaming (especially the Wii).
I don't hate it, I just don't like what it has to offer.
GreenGoblin2099
This. It's not for me, but I'm glad it's there. Better to have systems that are wildly different than all too similar imo. If there were more games I liked on the Wii, I would have a reason to pick it up, because it's very different from my ps3.
I really liked Nintendo back when I was, like, in middle school. I don't hate Nintendo now but they just aren't company producing the games I want nor is their console host to those games.
I do, however, dislike how Pokemon has pretty much become bulletproof when it comes to criticism. It sells ridiculously well and it has hardly changed at all in over ten years yet it doesn't get any where near the amount of criticism as series like Halo and Call of Duty.

It's all about the money eh? What is it about for Sony and MS?
Since when does HD make a game good?? Does that mean all the games from previous generations are not good?
So, what makes LBP 'mature' but other platformers on Wii not 'mature'? The console they're on? Okay...
The wii is not a repackaged gamecube with motion controls TC. The graphicsa system pushes out depends on the developer. Some developers on the wii don't care about pushing the hardware and these games end up looking like DC,Gamecube or PS2 games. Just this year multiple graphical impressive games appeared on the Wii and the Wii can push great graphics if developers try. Some of these games were SMG2, Sonic Colours, Kirby Epic Yarn, DKCR and more. The wii also had a bunch of online features when it launched that people seem to ignore that I like to use. The features were the News and Weather Channel. I wish I can get a Ps3, but my parents won't let me.
I'm not sure why the Wii would change a Nintendo fan into a Nintendo hater. I honestly don't see a big difference between the GC library and the Wii library. Sure, the Wii library has a lot more party games, (don't forget that the GC had a good number of party games too) but if you don't like those kinds of games you can just skip them. The main Wii franchises are the same as they always were Mario/Zelda/Metroid. Yeah, sure they haven't released a new Zelda just for the Wii, but they took a long time releasing Z:TP for the GC too. The amount of Mario/Zelda/Metroid games put out by Wii seem comparable to what was put out by GC. Nintendo's bread and butter games are still there in pretty much the same quantity as they were before. Nintendo is giving the same quality experience with the Wii as it gave with its other systems. So there is no real reason for a Nintendo superfan to hate on the Wii.

I think you misunderstood what that poster was saying – he said that as time goes on people want to both look to other new types of games AND play similar games. He meant LBP was similar to Mario, not that it was more mature than Mario.
I gotta agree with goddyx that as people mature they do want to experience new things along with the old. That is a big reason why people don't just stick with Nintendo. Nintendo pretty much sticks with the old and almost never makes new things. The big new thing they have with the Wii is tacking on motion controls to their old franchises. If you aren't a fan of the wiimote that isn't enough new things to keep people from buying the other consoles. On the other hand, people who are into wiimote type controls can be perfectly happy with the Wii. People's reaction to the Wii is really all about how much nostalgia they have built up over the traditional Nintendo games and and how much they enjoy the Nintendo's version of motion control.
The Nintendo Wii is awesome! I can't fault it. It has some amazing games and a new way to play 'em, what's to hate? What i can hate is the boring xbox 360 and ps3 with their endless first person games that are awkward to play on rubbish dual analogue sticks!!! ffs buy a pc if you like that stuff at least you don't have to pay for online and the keyboard/mouse blows away a gamepad! At lease the Wii offers something original and new and nobody can deny the talent for making great Nintendo has.
If you hate the Wii, you hate: SMG/2, SSBB, KEY, M:OM, DCKR, MHTri, MP3:C, MKW, NSMBW, SPM, and will hate LoZ:SS, DQX, Xenoblade and TLS too.
If you feel like someone betrayed you, that was M$.
Hoenstly, I think that the Wii has some of the best consoles this gen. People just seem to not want to look at them when making these arguments...

all companies care about money. this is true. its a technological advancement. if graphics never evolved, we'd still be using white dots and overlays for our tvs to play our games. 3 dimensional games would not exist. LBP doesn't have to be a platformer. it can be pretty much any genre and it can be as mature as the creator of a map wants it do be. also, you're sig is stupid. without good A.I or physics, gameplay would be terrible as there would be no challenge.
I don't hate the Wii, I hate though how publishers ignored both the Xbox 360 and PS3 to develop Wii games... haha, then they didn't sell, serves them right, especially for those that keep trying to break ground there.lamprey263
The Wii offers things the other consoles don't. Look at Red Steel 2 and tell me that it's possible on the other consoles. (And before the Move on PS3.)

This is the first time Nintendo has been behind power-wise, so the 'they're keeping graphics from advancing thing' is not a big deal.
When I think of mature LBP is one of the last games I think of and I don't mean that in a bad way. The word mature is just thrown around too much here.
Gameplay is a term used to describe the interactive aspects of game design. An alternative name for gameplay in finding favor with academics is game mechanics, however, it can be argued that gameplay and game mechanics are different concepts. Gameplay is what distinguishes a game from a non-interactive medium such as a book or film through the interaction with the game by the player. Game mechanics refers to sets of rules in a game that are intended to produce an enjoyable gaming experience.
No, my sig rocks. Gameplay is much more than just A.I. and physics. A.I. and physics just add to gameplay.
on your point number
1 -motion controls you sir are wrong , motion controls did not start with eye toy , they started with rob on the nintendo entertainment system also duck hunt used similar gameplay controls similar to most wii fpses ,
2- you do realise just because the games are cheaper then most retail games, they aint shovel ware . /also this has been in existance since nes every populated console has them ---snes nes ps1 gb gba ds wii , and now ps3 and 360 is getting shovel ware/minigame based games by the truckload,
3 - - - - so what if nintendo dont sell thier consoles at a loss, oh wait they did sell their consoles at a loss , until now, actually lol ,
the nes the snes the n64 the gc costed nintendo money to make, you probably didnt see the result thats because they made money off of the accessories and games
and does it matter the wii by default was the cheapest console already-so what you expect a 20 dollar console with 50 dollar games if thats the case , ,
id just not buy games lol
and for the record no i dont hate a system that has truckloads of games,
-i wouldnt have bought all3 if i did
--you do realise wii has more good games then your putting it out to
if we went off a list, forget it wed have over 500 good games to play, regardless of t he respect each game gets, they suit to at least one p ersons tastes, where as 360 the majority of players on that console like strictly first person shooters ,
ps3 is a slight more head room but still recieves the same content as the 360 for the mostp art
the wii has games again for every one plus
theres this thing about people complaining about the price of dlc , and no split screen well guess what,
if you bought a wii and a side console or all 3 ,,
you would not need to co mplain , ,
-wii offers split screen , in almost every game , ,
also it is the only system to have ab anner year for 2010 -with exclusives , !
not just from nintendo , do i need to make al ist so you ll finally get it through your thick skull , you bringing up hate against nintendo based on those 3 factors, which lol have very little to do with your actual enjoyment of the system ---nintendo making money most especally who cares if ms loses money or sony loses money or nintendo gains money,
its called good business decisions really,do you like paying 500 -600 for a console at launch , (guess so) do you like having only limited number of games to sort through (im guessing so)
with that said,
i dont hate any of the 3 ,,
they all have made good
and they all have made some bad decisions,
we all know this none of the 3 are saints,
eg dlc that was on a disc before the actual dlc was released-proves their charging more money for som thing that should have been there re5 any one, thats a bad business decision especally for the fans , of the series/game/system , forcing dlc instead of con tent packed games is a no no
we all know that most of the dlc released is minor stuff like a few maps here and there,
the only big dlc packs i feel that were good is the fall out /gta iv ones, and the saints row 2 one that added more then just maps , as well as wwe 2011s first ever dlc that was packed with content , and if you paid 800 it was free as will be the next dlc so ,, ya with that cleared,
ii believe nintendo has done their job this gen
in fact theyve done more
for instance giving fans and gamers a like what they want
-how many times have people asked where is a proper dkc sequal or how about punchout , people been also saying goldeneye i want goldeneye,
well when its finally dished out , and with one person objecting doesnt it seam like your asking for to much ,
cause i think so ,
nintendo has already blew its top releasing all these games i shouldnt even have to list it , for people to say oh but their for the casual , wrong , these games are the same games we had 20 yrs ago with some new addition ehre and there,
there is no reason to call them shovel ware now!
what? nintendo selling their console for a profit from the start is meant to ake them bad? what???
hope you realise that if MS and Sony fail in the gaming world they have other ventures to fall back on, but Nintendo doesnt, cos they only do games.
noob.
I personally like it. Compliments a PC quite well. millerlight89
I agree, or any other system for that matter. Personally only having a wii wouldnt be a lot of fun, but I love the wii for what it is, an excellent secondary platform.
My Wii is doing an excellent job of complimenting my PC as well. In fact PC+Wii is all I need.
