Is Wii U the next generation platformer king? (56k alert)

A lot of Indie Platformer games already out on PC, 360, PS3 are better than those on the Wii:U.
I guess this thread really backfired.

Why? Simple: SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD. Instead of getting an epic new 3D Mario game like 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy, we are getting a DS remake. Unbelievable - the Wii U is good at NOTHING.

Nah, PC wins in this category too. I would take the indie platformers that you know will be on PC such as follow ups to Super Meat Boy, Braid, etc over any of those. I feel like Nintendo is just trying to put out as much with Mario/Luigi on it as possible, even if the game isn't up to the Nintendo standards we've grown to expect. NSMBU was disappointing to me and Mario 3D World doesn't really interest me because I can always just turn on my 3DS and play that. Not sure if the Wii U version is different, but it doesn't make me want a Wii U. Anymore, I am looking for games with more depth than what Nintendo is offering anymore. Braid will make you think, while every one of those games is another version of a game Nintendo already did and the playstyle will reflect that. I feel like Nintendo got lazy with the Wii U and it's games.

Plus the best 2 games on the list are available  or will be available on other systems. (Trine 2 and Rayman Legends)

Of course as always, these are just my opinions.

I have a feeling that PC/PS4 will be since they are very indie-dev friendly Silenthps

360 and PS3 had better platform games. They were called arcade games. Super Meat Boy, Trine 2, Limbo, Fez, Braid, and S'plosion Man for example.  not to mention Rayman Origins, Ratchet and Clank, Banjo, Rayman Legends.

The PS4 and XB1 will get better platformers as well...........they will be called arcade games also. It would be incredibly hard for me to buy a Mario game, especially a 2-D Mario game for $60 when the PS4 or XB1 has something fresher, that looks better, and more unique for $15.

Nintendo does make solid platformers.

Sadly, platformers aren't as popular as they once were.

Everyone wants FPS, 3rd Person Action, RPG/MMO, Open World/Sandbox games these days.

So now "kings" are chosen before the next gen is even happening? Only the Wii U is out and you're already naming winners.

For platformers. Yes, unless PS4 has a lot of them. Knack and Ratchet are a good start.

I think so. But I'm also someone who loves platformers so this makes me happy. Although I bought Trine and while it's definitely a pretty good game, I found the pace to be a little boring and the game as a whole underwhelming. The only thing it has going for it is pretty amazing visuals. Which most smart gamers should know doesn't make a game great on that merit alone.

Now the game I'm REALLY itching for news on is Yarn Yoshi. Where was it at E3?!?!

Correct.

And while I'd have no doubt that there will likely be some pretty good platformers on the PS4 and the Xbox One, I doubt they'll have as many AAA efforts or exclusive platformers. For some reason killer platforming and Nintendo consoles just make magic together. And I am more than okay with that.
