It can't be called shit in any sense, even though to me it represents a lot of what's wrong with games development today. I didn't like the Witcher 2 much either.

Most rpgs have the same problem, if you explore and do side quests you usually get to the last boss overpowered, even the "infamous" souls series have this problem, i can 2 shot last bosses with my builds, it is the pay off for knowing what you are doing.
Bullshit. You could mash one button, and still beat bosses whose missions are above yours by 10 levels even on Death March, this is how revoltingly easy the game is. Please stop pretending it's a difficult game, lol.

Tha is not my experience and you are a terrible troll so let's just say "suuuure"
@DragonfireXZ95: you may be right. I didn't really get into the DS thread stuff. I was busy getting my butt kicked playing it. Same with Bloodborne. Love those games.

Yeah, that's bullshit. Anything 10 levels higher than me 2 shots me and has a trillion hp points. I tried to take on a level 21 cyclops at level 13 and it would have taken me ten minutes to fight the damn thing just because every hit would tick away like .5% hp, and that would be a fight where I could barely get hit. You'd have to be a damn good player, and have a ton of patience to sit through a cyclops fight like that.
Just like anyone, why don't you put your proof where your fingers are and post a video of you killing a boss that's 10 levels higher than you by just mashing.
I made a thread earlier asking if abyone else was dissapointed with the game like I was. I sold it for batman(great decision). I am not saying its bad, it just has a lot of flaws.
@the_master_race: Calm down fanboy, we know your in love with it.
not a boy but a crazy fan .. yes
The combat didn't bother me, it wasn't great it was just there (exactly what I expected from a Witcher game). But I agree with 8/10 for different reasons.
It was a fantastic game in terms of story and quests and a great environment but it had tons of filler content that absolutely wasn't worth bothering with. Like everywhere you go there had to be something to fight so the kids don't get bored. Not quite as bad as DAI but definitely similar in terms of worthless filler crap everywhere.
Also, main quests gave so much exp I was massively overlevelled for the entire last third of the game even though I skipped some stuff. It was like, do one main quest is equal to doing 500 other things in the game in terms of exp. Ridiculous.
I still loved the game but it has its faults. 8/10 is about right which by the way kiddos is NOT a 'bad' score.
Best RPG I've played in years. So no not a shit game. Better then 99% of games I get to play and I'm fucking cereal.
He's cereal guys, look. The ****. Out.
It feels wrong that i still haven't purchased the game
You don't need to, it's not a good one anyway.
lol even op would give it an 8/10
10/10 would hit again. My favorite game of the year beating out Bloodborne, and everyone knows how die-hard a Souls fan I am.
Well, that depends. Ni No Kuni had shit combat, yet I didn't call it a shit game. Witcher 3 has even worse combat, so is it shit? Probably not.
I'm about 100 hours in and almost done with the main quest. It's definitely the best RPG I've played since Mass Effect 2. Then again I'm the kind of RPG player who values characters, story, dialogue, and cutscenes far more than combat. I hated the combat in TW3 too for about the first 20 hours of my playtime, but once I figured out how to dodge and parry correctly it became fun. Also I chose the strong attack talents so that might have something to do with it...you have to be more precise with your blows and IMO that's more fun that whirring around like a lawn trimmer.
For the record I despised The Witcher 2. I didn't even finish it despite trying my best. Just felt wrong going from The Wild Hunt and Jacque de Aldersberg to whatever the story was in TW2.
To say that we have a problem here would be an understatement.
Many a gamers seem to bash The Witcher 3 as some sort of piece of asscrap game. With a terrible combat sytem, watered-down WRPG elements and a gratuitous amount of sexscenes. Even the local SJWs have come to criticism the Witcher as "misogynistic." Is The Witcher 3 actually NOT Poland's greatest contribution to the world?
My experience with the game was that it had an absolute god awful combat system, but decent everything else. A solid 8/10 in my opinion. However, I am afeared to say that The Witcher 3 may not be as good the world believes it is.
yes it's not as good as it's ratings. reviewers nowadays are mostly terrible. ignoring things like crappy tacked on MP and combat systems, and level designs, and how fun a game is and instead rewarding games for having areas to explore and pretty lighting. Most of the highly rated 9 or 10 games in the last few years should be in the 5-6 range at best IMO
it's really overrated. story is limited by the protagonist's thirst for some vjayjay and it get's really annoying. You're in a massive, beautiful map with millions of characters and elements and all of that is either completely ignored, or revolved around some girl.
I remember reading a thread from a guy who was totally convinced that The Witcher 3 had shit combat. He was talking up how he was a veteran of the Souls games, how great he was at other games; and how fundamentally broken TW3 was.
Then he posted his own gameplay video.
It immediately became clear why he hated the combat - he was playing *terribly*. The guy kept rolling around like an idiot. He only used light attacks. He never sidestepped. He never countered a single weapon swing. He used signs really poorly. He locked on to single enemies in the middle of huge group fights. Basically, he played the game like it was Dark Souls...and wondered why he was losing.
So yeah, I now take the "poor combat" complaints with a huge grain of salt. It's not a perfect combat system, but a lot of the complaints simply come down to user error.
Agreed. You have change your approach going from Souls to the Witcher series.

You mean Ciri? his adopted daughter?
You're all posting in a month old thread.
Shhhh... let them do their thing.
rofl.
Either way I have to agree regarding the combat and controls of this game being craptastic... But I managed to stomach it because the rest of the game was actually good.
I'd say a solid 8 out of 10.
you dont buy witcher for combat so point moot
The Witcher 3 throws countless combat scenarios at you, regardless of what you're doing. So that's a bullshit claim.
I didn't really have a problem with the combat... sure it certainly isn't perfect, but it definitely didn't ruin my experience. Best game I've played in a while!
