Is x-box live worth $50

Now this is what I dont get, it's only $50 a year, which is about 14 cents a day. How is that nickel and diming you? Unless you literally mean they are taking a nickel and dime a day.

I just wan't to play Halo 3, CoD 4 etc.

I really rather not pay to play my games online.

I don't feel like it's worth it right now but who knows, that Fall update sure does look good.

for the individual, no.. $50 a year isnt that much...

but take into account that XBL has well over 10 million XBL Gold subscribers.. that's over 500 million dollors going to M$ on a yearly basis.. do you think Microsoft needs $500,000,000 a year to provide nearly P2P online multiplayer??... something that nearly every other gaming medium currently available provides free of charge?..

sure, XBL is "better" overall than PSN.. but that is mainly due to the fact that XBL has been around much longer than PSN and Sony is basically playing "catch up" at this point.. it's not like your $50 a year is going towards getting exclsuive features that the non paying XBL members will never have access to.. nearly every feature that's available to an XBL Gold member is also available to a XBL Silver member.. so what are you paying for??.. are you purely paying to gain access to the online multiplayer portion of the games that you already own?.. for me, that's absurd...

PSN is 90% as good and in a lot of ways better.

As far as if its worth it. I think it would be okay to charge if MS wanted for some "premium" services, but charging just to play with your friends or family is BS. Matchmaking should always be free. For example my brother plays games maybe once or twice a month. We play COD4 and Warhawk, but he would never pay to play, he just doesn't use it that much. So that means if we had X360s I'd never be able to get online with my family and that is why I'm against the charge.

I always play CS and Guildwars with my real life friends, I dont have to pay anything.

I've always said that it certainly shouldnt be free, as contrary to what the cows like to think it's definately the vastly superior service. While it shouldnt be free though, it definately isnt worth $50. $25 a year would be reasonable.

Really? I disagree with you so i'm a fanboy? Super-great logic. I've said all along that the PC is better than all three consoles put together. I own a wii and frequently hate on it as a waste of money, i've made blog posts on the godliness of the PS3 and the crappy reliability of the 360.

I have a PS3 and a 360, and through using both, xbox live is just better. Much better. I'm not saying the 360 is a better machine, and right now after a third RROD i cant even be bothered to box the thing up and ship it off, but xbox live is just hands down better. I'm sorry but unless you tell me distinct features that highlight the superiority of xbox live I call BS on yours and that other guys statements, just to say it "better" tells me nothing. I had some experience with xbox live. Not much tbh, but I see little that makes it amazing.

of course its superior, but I have more fun with my friends on live than on the PC. so yeah its worth it. would I rather pay nothing, of course i'm not crazy, but this is video games, a very expensive hobby and for people to complain about 50 bucks a year is just silly. the principle of complaining I understand, but 50 bucks man? come on!

While I think LIVE is better then PSN at the moment, saying that LIVE is vastly superior is a gigantic overstatement. If LIVE is 100%, PSN is 90-94%

Well this is where your arguement falls apart. Where did i say PSN was ****? Where? At all? I didn't. I just said xbox live was much better. I even said that xbox live definately isnt worth $50.
