I don't know why people would say no unless they're poor. 50 dollars a year is pocket change. Not even. It's less than pocket change.

It's worth ir for a good service.

stepat201

I'm tired of hearing people say "just live with it". What is that **** If they start charging $100 a year, you going to live with it too? NO, I don't want to live with it. The only reason why X-box Live is charging is because people like you who says "just live with it" and pays Microsoft to provide a service that suppose to be free. You pay for Online already and why do you have to pay to use it? Does it make any sense? NO. PSN is not exactly like X-BOX Live, but it has some basic features that we can "Live with it", like cross game invites and text chats. Stop this nonsense and stop paying Microsoft. When they see that no one is willing to pay them for Xbox Live, they will rethink their stupidness.

It's definately pocket change yes. In fact, it's an incredibly insignificant amount of money when you think about it, but that's not really the point. Cheap or not, i'd rather not just throw money away for something if it isn't worth the asking price.

My supermarket has fancy mineral water for $8 a bottle. $8 is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but why the heck should i pay for it?

Well what you say is true but the way I look at it,if it's not going to change, just live with it. MS is not going to make Live free anytime soon and I would gladly pay the price to play Gears and Halo online.

The way some of you talk, you'd think there's three zeroes after the 50.

People who say yes like to think that the fifty bucks they throw at it make the server better or achievements or friends list or anything else. Thats great. But i dont believe that.

XBLG?

Hell no.

How can it be good being forced to pay $100aud a year to be allowed to play the online component of games you already purchased.

for 360 owners: yes

For everyone else who gets it free:no

$50 may not be much, but its still around the cost of a game.

Don't you mean Xbox Live Gold? Because I can get everything Xbox Live offers aside from online multiplayer with a free Silver membership. And since I'm not a fan of online multiplayer I'm doing just fine with my free Silver membership.foxhound_fox
silver member also have to wait an extra week for newly released demos...

not to mention, it's not truly $50. more like $200-250, if we consider a consoles life-span.

i go with silver. i use those free trial cards to try the online portions of games. I rarely feel the need to play online on the xbox for more than that. I use pc for online gaming.

IMO, I get enough out of PSN. I understand that there is a social side to XBL, but I don't know enough people with Xbox 360s to justify me getting it.ash10692
That's exactly why I don't mind paying. Most my friends have 360's and we tend to get most multiplatform titles on the 360. As a console online service I think the features justify the fee. Would I rather not have to pay? Of course. But if the fee keeps the service the way it is with yearly improvements, then I'm all for the fee.

I couldnt find the words, but gosh darn it, Thats excatly it! You CANT play the full game if you dont buy live gold. I guess on the plus side is that, you dont have to read the intire reviews of games your looking into. "the multiplayer" parts

Yeah its the sad truth with XBLG, I still think its bizarre that people completely overlook it, most probably out of convenience.

Really 50 dollars for a year aint nothing, I pay 50 dollar to watch Boxing PPVs, and that is max 3 hours. So 50 for one year is nothing to complain aboute. The ones that complain most aboute paying 50 dollars for XBOX live are acctualy Cows who dont even have it.

Here in the UK, it costs the equivalent of $80, so my answer isn't "no", it's: "HELL NO!!!!"

I used to have a 360, payed for Xbox Live and everything, it was a great service and I thought it was well worth the price. Then I sold my 360 and got a PS3, I wasn't expecting much from the PS3 online, but I was really surprised at how good it was for something that is free. So in my opinion, no Xbox Live is not worth it's price, especially not next to PSN. I still think Xbox Live is a better service, but that much better than PSN to pay for it? No. If you think $50 a year is expensive, try spending £40 a year on Xbox Live, I think that's around $80. I could buy a brand new game that just came out for the price of 1 year of XBL, and considering that im not that big with online multiplayer anyway the price is just to high when I can do it for free on a PS3. If I decide to get a 360 Arcade there is no chance in hell im going to get back XBL.

Yes and no...

Yes because It offers the most robust service of the 3 major consoles..

No because it's charging you for P2P.. Everything else is free through Silver...

*sigh* unfortunately 360 gamers have no choice..
