WOW are you blind Halo created the FPS? THen WTH was doom or even wolfenstien. OH and dont say "I mean for consoles" since last time I checked Crysis was a PC only game.

I didn't mean it literally, but if Combat Evolved never was released, it wouldn't have been as popular and there wouldn't have been so many. The FPS genre was pretty much dead before it, then came Halo and made it successful, so now, it's the hottest genre, and that's all thanks to Halo. So basically, you should thank Bungie, because they let you play Crysis or any other successful FPS today.
Wait one dam minute. Your actually saying Halo saved FPS genre. OMG talk about uber fanboy. Dude im pretty sure PC would still be getting FPS games even without Halo. All Halo did was make Shooters semi popular on consoles and nothing more.
I'm sorry, dude, but if it weren't for Halo, Crysis, CoD, BioShock and Killzone 2 would all suck.
Combat Evolved was extremely successful, and everybody noticed this and started to produce first-person shooters.
The ones that bought CE thought it was so good that they had to buy Halo 2. That's why it sold 2.4 million in North America in 1 day.
And this, too, inspired others to try to copy the success of Halo by making clones that suck (Killzone).
Simply put, Halo has changed the way we look at first-person shooters today, whether you like it or not.
You have to be 2 years old not to understand how Halo shook the FPS industry when it was released.
