It's March 25, 2009, and Halo is still the best FPS ever

No FPS game has throughout the years provided such an excellent, epic and brilliant adventure that Halo did back in 2001. If you've played it, it's hard to deny it.

8 years have passed soon, but Halo truly is the most brilliant first-person shooter ever. It doesn't seem like it can be transcended.

Fine, pretty cool, coming from a guy with a Freeman avatar. But did you play Combat Evolved when it was released in 2001 and were you interested in this genre at that time? If not, I understand. Otherwise, you should agree with me.

It's definitely one of the best, no doubt.

I enjoyed 3 the most. 2 was the worse out of the 3. It was still fun,but the light and dark side crap was just anoying.

I was truly hyped for Halo 1. Everyone said it to be FPS god,but then I played it. I was so bord and I couldint keep going.

Counter-Strike 1.6 is vastly superior to any console FPS.

FPS was popular on PC long before Halo came along, and I believe it was Wolfenstein that invented the FPS genre, although going back that far I could be wrong. So basically it's always been hot on PC, Halo just made it hotter on consoles... meaning your entire thread is wrong

I'm sorry, dude, but if it weren't for Halo, Crysis, CoD, BioShock and Killzone 2 would all suck.

Combat Evolved was extremely successful, and everybody noticed this and started to produce first-person shooters.

The ones that bought CE thought it was so good that they had to buy Halo 2. That's why it sold 2.4 million in North America in 1 day.

And this, too, inspired others to try to copy the success of Halo by making clones that suck (Killzone).

Simply put, Halo has changed the way we look at first-person shooters today, whether you like it or not.

You have to be 2 years old not to understand how Halo shook the FPS industry when it was released.
