Considering how much fun I had, it was the best MMO I've played in a while. However, I still can't get over the fact that they could have made the game look and play more similar to the CGI scenes they had.

Older MMOs looked a hellofa lot better and it still uses that old generic gameplay and interface.

I've said this before. If you going to charge a monthly fee you need to have the best MMO on market. Besides im sure The old republic made more enough profit.

I there any news on if you need to buy the game still? Ill be pretty pissed, i spent like £38 for a game that goes free in only like 6 months?

Kotor III. Closer to becoming a reality. Good news for me, bad news for them.

Namgis

I don't think that is likely at all considering what happens in The Old Republic story wise.

I was definitely on the SWTOR bandwagon when i first heard about it. I played through multiple betas and bought the collectors edition and a three month subscrib when it 1st came out. It really is a shame how bad of a job Bioware did with TOR. It was just another WoW clone and they promised it wasnt. I kept giving them the benefit of the doubit, but it was just soooooo boring and uninteresting. I hit lvl 50 two weeks after launch, and beat most of the end game. The PVE was atrocious, the leveling was boring and the PVP was god awful. I quit about three weeks after launch and never looked back.

It will be quite limiting for free players though but at least this is a good option for those that just want to experience the story.

ZimpanX

Dont really care about how limited it is. Like you said im just here to see the classes story through. This is as close as im getting to a kotor 3.

I got a bounty hunter to 45 I think and a Jedi Knight to 34. I had lots of complaints but basically there really was nothing very good about the game. I like always having a companion but it takes forever to do their story. You only get a couple lines of conversation after completing a world and that is only if you have given them enough gifts.

This is great news, I had spent $80 on launch to find out my computer couldn't handle it, ran the game at like 20FPS on low settings at best. Got the level 25 or so before I reached unplayable points, now I have a new gaming computer and can run it at maximum settings, but I havent had the money to subscribe again.

Great game, just didn't have the potential for a subscription fee that holds up against WoW.

Ended up with two lvl50's (Assassin and BH) and the other (Empire sub)classes at 30+. The endgame was just terrible though and knowing that removed all motivation to play the game anymore. Maybe with this F2P model i'll go back to it now and again.

[QUOTE="Animal-Mother"] Ya I cancelled my sub after about a month. I did have a ton of fun but couldnt throw all my gaming eggs into one basket. Glad I can finally go back and play here and there without worrying bout the subMitazaki

yeah. i have a level 43 bounty hunter that i abandoned back in march that i'd like to eventually finish.

Bounty Hunter was my first character to get to level 50 and I really liked the class story line. It was my main character and did all the flash points and all the operations in heroic mode except the Explosive Conflict and did it all as a healer and it was a lot of fun been a Bounty Hunter healer.

I would say the Imperial Agent had the best class story line but sadly after the latest patch, which I found to be really lacking. My days of SWTOR came to an end.

my first character was a sith marauder which i finished with. i also got to level 18 with a jedi sentinel. i've enjoyed all of the stories that i've seen so far. that's what i'd say is the game's strong point and i'd like to see them all eventually.

lol..yeah I boycotted the game because I was and still am still mad at the fate of Kotor 3... It should of been a single player game in the vein of Kotor 1 and 2...but instead Bioware sold out. EA got greedy, and Lucas went crazy ...the result swtor mmo... ugghhh..

Now watch it make more money.

MMOs do better F2P now. Why do you think there are dozens of F2P MMOs coming down the pipeline?

TOR was 5 years out of date in terms of it's retail model.

Then it could be a prequel. Didn't ToR begin 300+ years after the Kotor titles? As long as it doesn't alter any story arcs, they could do just about anything they wanted. That's the beauty and the curse of SW. I don't really care if it's a new title either. I want some good SW action rpg. There are far too many great writers who are passionate about the Star Wars universe that could help craft a great gaming experience, for the story to be finished.

But no, said tenaka, the game is popular and is constantly growing.

Why do you think it's shifting models?

It's funny how a few months ago whenever you said anything about the PC lacking big budget exclusives this game was immediately put in your face.

And now all the hermits are going "called it."

Now every big fish in the industry is looking and saying "if a Star Wars MMO with an insane budget can't make it on PC, nothing can."

And thus, PC gaming dies. Finally.

No, the iceberg is WoW. This is the destiny of all MMOs that try to imitate WoW's formula verbatim. If anything Guild Wars 2 is a breath of fresh air for MMOs. It doesn't have the grindy endgame that so many people detest and the focus of the game is leveling with other players and cooperating. TOR was a trainwreck right from the start. All WoW-clones are failures.

Why is this evidence of PC gaming dying? Are you trying to pretend that the king of MMOs--World of Warcraft--isn't still at 10.4 million subscribers while retaining the same business model for eight years? This game failed because it offered nothing new. WoW-clones are trainwrecks from their inception.

Yeah, I give money to one of the few developers that actually knows how to maintain an MMO for eight years.

I don't give money to developers that let MMOs crash and burn within a matter of months, throw up their hands in exasperation, and declare "We're going free to play, guys!"

Shocking, I know.

You're paying to a developer that has absolutely no problem having a cash shop in a game with monthly fees.

You're complaining about a cash shop that offers nothing but mounts and companion pets--purely cosmetic items that serve no game function whatsoever--while still making the vast majority of mounts and companion pets obtainable in the game for free? lol.

I'm not complaining because I don't play WoW.

I'm pointing out how ridiculous it is for a company to charge people monthly fees and still release priced extra content, be it cosmetic or not.

[QUOTE="princeofshapeir"]You're complaining about a cash shop that offers nothing but mounts and companion pets--purely cosmetic items that serve no game function whatsoever--while still making the vast majority of mounts and companion pets obtainable in the game for free? lol.waltefmoney

I'm not complaining because I don't play WoW.

Priced content that has absolutely no effect whatsoever on players who choose not to buy them, you mean. Mounts and companion pets serve no real game function. Even before they were made available on the cash shop, they only existed in the game as a mean to flex your e-peen and show off how cool you were for doing something that was difficult. All of the mounts announced thus far for MoP are still obtainable through player achievements, with the except of one mount and pet included with the collector's edition. They're literally cosmetic skins that don't affect gameplay whatsoever--to get uppity about Blizzard putting a small fraction of them on the cash shop is the pinnacle of self-righteous stupidity.

Justify it however you like. I don't really care.

I gave up on MMORPG's a long time ago and even if I were to start playing one, it would be anything but WoW.
