[QUOTE="-Snooze-"][QUOTE="Saturos3091"]

I payed 20$ for 3 months, and now I've had free Xbox Live for the last 3 year thanks to arguing with Microsoft over their faulty hardware. :)

Saturos3091
Customer service are amazing. So far i've had 2 free network adapters, a vision cam and just last week, i got a new 60GB harddrive.

Yeah, it's quite easy to get stuff out of them. Great thing about it was it was just one phone call and they've never bothered asking me to pay again after that (ironically my Xbox broke two more times).

How did you go about getting a free membership? Hardware is easy enough, but never heard of getting a membership from them.

Owned @ paying 250$ for something that should be free.

Microsoft jacked your wallet and then lied to you about it so you feel justified in paying it. @ PC users getting everything 360 users have and more for free. Yet you guys keep paying for it, MASSIVE ownage.

angry_fork

Did MS break into your house and beat you up when you were a kid? I pay more for Potato chips each year, and I do get something out of that. !0 extra pounds of fat a year. LOL. No Sir, there is no Massive ownage, and MS did not lie to anyone about anything with Live. Live is well worth around $4 or less a month, paid in yearly $40-$50 cards. It is a very stable, very easy community communication service. If PSn was anywhere close to Live, Yes I would have dropped Live a long time ago. But, PSn is nowhere near Live. Sure PSn does on-line great, but that is about it. The browser is very basic, The store is very confusing, and You can only talk to one person at a time, and getting into friends games is a little confusing also.

Live is easy to do all this, but no on-line browser, which is what I use my Computer for, lol. I can talk to a gruop of friends, all at the same time, switch to another gruop of friends, talk to them, get an invite from another friend, Go into his game, all without losing contact with the party I was chating with, then press another button and resume my chat with the other group of friends. All with in seconds, very easily. and it works with all games the same, no matter what I, or my friends are playing at the time. Even if we are all playing different games. I do like to talk to others when I game, It just makes it feel like they are right with me in my living room, just not visible, lol. Try that onPSn. No way you can do anything close to it.

A common PSn experience. I talk to 1 of my friends, have to stop talking to him, Go to another friend, and find I want to play a game with him, get into his game, then start chatting again with the other friend, and then have to quit the game if that friend wants me to join his game, no invite, he has to tell me come on over, then I have to go to his gamer tag, and click on his game to join. I might be wrong a little on the click this or that, it's been like 2 or 3 months since iv'e tried it. Last time I played on PSn, unless I get a phone call, or I am playing on my PS3. I don't try to talk to anyone while playing anymore. 1 game at a time is played and I talk to no one but the people i am gaming with at the time. very basic gaming is all PSn can do.

Yea anyone who is paying $50 a year to play online is being ripped off. Sony offers pretty much the same level of service and they don't charge for it. $50 a year does not sound like much but over the whole generation you will spend like $300. Those $300 dollars can buy you a neext generation console when it comes out...

PC,Wii,PS3 all have free online yet xbox it isn't. Even the argument you get what you pay for is useless since live is not THAT much better than the free stuff.

I won't go through all of what I said again, just see my statement above, PSn can't do what Live can do period.

Why am I not outraged. Why do I not hate Microsoft? Why do I own a PS3 and still make all of my DLC purchases on my 360?

THE COMMUNITY.

You feel cheated because your paying $50 for the worst service of the 3 consoles. Live is a joke if it were free i would complain PSN destroys Live.

You sir, I doubt very seriously played on live but on a friends unit. Live blows PSn out of the water. Not even close. Sure PSn does on-line gaming great, but that's it nothing else. It's so disjointed it's not even funny. Live charging is the only thing keeping PSn's head out of the water. IMO. LOL.

I can't stand the Live community, I've never met so many pricks online, they actually have the power to make me not want to play anymore.

All you did was make instint invite,party/private chat into one whole dam paragraph. Which wasint really needed. Again nice features still not worth the cash.

Sorry, didn't mean to make it into one long paragraph. It was divided up, but when I submitted it, it became one long paragraph, lol. Again sorry for the large mess.

edit: is that better? LOL.

Says who? Says you. Since it's not your money, and it's infact ours, i'd advise you not to tell us how it best be used. What you consider valuable, isn't gonna be the same for everyone.

i didnt renew my live description because i havent played cod4 in awhile. right now im playing kz2, and i must say i WISH PSN was as good as XBL. i mean there isnt much lag or anything when i play KZ2, but the lack of party system sucks, especially when you want to play with friends.

That's funny, because M$'ed has "F-ed" me over multiple times while I was on the phone with them. To date, they are the only company that never gave me anything, even though I've gotten RROD 3 times, and E-74 once.

I have talked to them on average 4 times a year, and I'm super polite. I guess it's just bad luck.

Worst Customer Service company I've ever experienced on the phone, and they seem to use foreign countries and it's hard to what they are saying with the thick accents.

Glad someone on this planet has gotten better service from them.

I've owned Xbox's Since 2001, and I owned Two 360's at 2005's launch.

Well, have you ever spoke to Sony? I phoned me three times in one day about my broken PS3, first time i was told it would cost £90 to fix, the second time i was told £150, and the last time, the lady said it would be free. MS, seem more laid back about thir products, i has simply phoned up, told them my network adapter didnt work, and they said they'd send me a new one, if is ent them my old one ... i never got around to sending my odl one, but i got a brand new one ... 2 infact, as i phoned and said it never arrived.

Yeah, I spoke with Sony last gen for a DRE, I got two Greatest Hits.

My buddy got DRE a year later, nad he got a free Dualshock...we both got it taken care of for free.

I also spoke with Nintendo, and they were awesome. Like I said, I spoke with ALL OF THEM, M$ was just horrible to me...and M$ reps are from other countries half the time, which is annoying when you can't understand what they are saying.

I guess it's just a luck of the draw.

A lot of people overplay Xbox Live issues with paying 1) I get tons of exclusive DLC 2) I have access to an amazing community, not everyone in XBL is racist and 10 years old 3) I have access to some of the best online games ever without lag 4) Streamlined online experience monitored for quality by MS 59.99 per year it a bit much, I'd prefer 30-40 but hey.

The 360 community is great, I've met so many nice people and I have developed many gaming relationships. I've met my share of buttholes sure but I've met more nice people. PC gaming is the place where I've met the biggest racists and buttholes.

Because you were and still are deluded into thinking that paying for it somehow makes it better. When in reality, most of the advertisements would do well enough to pay for all of it. And that all other online services (which on PC offer things like dedicated servers, which Live does not have) for free.

It is like paying for DLC. People do it because they think there is no other way and think they "need" to.

I'm sure, that Xbox Live maintainance cost are not high, im sure they make HUGE amounts of profit of us, and im sure the PC has a better online experiance (atleast in your opinion) None of this changes the fact that millions will pay, and be content. As of now, it's the only way to play games like Halo 3 online.

Maintenance costs for Steam must be astronomical considering the hundreds or thousands of servers that must be upkept... yet VALVe still offers it for free and has no intention to charge.

paying for dlc... well lets see, the devs spend their time to make it, they need to get paid somehow... you people are so greedy

porky_ownsu

And since its invention has been offered for free on PC. And how is RE5's versus mode something worth paying on top of for? Shouldn't it have been included with the game?

It doesn't matter if they spend their time making it. You've already paid $50-60 for the game itself, anything else should be free. Good developers listen to their customers and give them incentive to come back. Charging $10 extra for every little piece of "addon" material and jacking up the price of the game up to $80 or 90 isn't my idea of a fun time.

I'd be more inclined to buy a game from a developer who wants my business and tries to make me want their product more than the other.

[QUOTE="-Snooze-"]I'm sure, that Xbox Live maintainance cost are not high, im sure they make HUGE amounts of profit of us, and im sure the PC has a better online experiance (atleast in your opinion) None of this changes the fact that millions will pay, and be content. Yes, as i said, im sure it costs very little to maintaine, that's not the point though is it? The only way to play Xbox games online, is by paying, hence why we do it. You may disagree, and think it's a rip off, you may even be right. But what exactly does that change?

I believe that anyone -including the console makers, devs etc- have the right to charge for what they want, as long as they don't lie. Has ever MS said online multiplayer is free? Nope. Does any -360- game omit the fact that a Gold memebership is neede for online play? Nope. Did Capcom offer a -free- versus mode on RE5? Nope. If they want to charge for it, good for them.

You might be a lemming if............. you pay $50 a year to play skate 2 online, and don't care! LOLLOLOLOL! Ok, no, serious question... what do all you guys mean by "service"? You're paying to play a videogame on someone elses xbox. The 'service' of like, an avatar, and messaging, and buying episodes of south park and stuff... is free. I don't understand these "you get such a better service for the money" statements.

then don't buy the dlc.. There is two options either the devs put things like "operation anchorage" in the game itself, or charge money for it. when running a business there is no point in wasting time and money to give people free content. Yes i agree that some dlc, like resi 5's versus mode is a scam, but things like shivering isles, knothole island and TLAD are not rip offs. They are hours of extra gameplay, therefore worth money.

Why am I not outraged. Why do I not hate Microsoft? Why do I own a PS3 and still make all of my DLC purchases on my 360?

If only Steam owned that many servers considering games like TF2 have servers that people run independently in their own homes, and can modify any way they want to.

Steam has servers, but not thousands. All Steam does is allow people to play their games online, and be connected to a community of other online gamers.

Only if they are released as "expansion packs." Things like Shivering Isles are expansions to the original. Game modes, cars, tracks, guns, levels, etc... aren't expansions on the original game... they are just content that fits into the original.

And just because it adds more play time does not inherently make it worth money. A new multiplayer level or new gun adds more gameplay but it doesn't derive inherent value. Paying for DLC is what is killing gaming. Unless it is something like Shivering Isles, made after the original and adds whole new areas with new story, quests, characters, weapons, etc. It should be released for free... like has always been the case on PC. i.e Bring Down the Sky being free on PC but costs money on 360.

That alone proves that paying for DLC on consoles is just like paying for XBL... completely unnecessary.

Not the same, PC users had alternatives already, And GFWL was onlt on a few games, games PC users didn't even like. These "others" methods are not only frowned upon, but lack the functions of Xbox live.

Agreed. That's why all my multiplats are on my 360. So I can enjoy them with live. Seriously, I'm annoyed at how boring playing PSN is. NO ONE HAS A MIC. And that kills it for me.

Ask a lot of Xbox gamers about Gold and they will tell you that they "need" to pay for it.

They are frowned upon because Microsoft can't make money off them. Go on, just keep feeding the machine, they don't care, XBL prints money.

Hundreds of thousands of servers? Really? I doubt Steam has that many servers. I would say hundreds, maybe 1 thousand. No more.

I see you ignore the points i made ...

They don't care, and neither do i :)
