Sony needs to stop resting on their laurels in Japan. They have made A LOT of headway in America and in Europe, but now they are losing Japan to the Wii, then followed by M$, probably due to RPG's.

This thread will be pages long, no doubt, but with talk of who's in SECOND place? in Japan. The Wii is still first, the PS3 is second, the 360 is third in Japan, despite these past 3 weeks. Does it matter? Not really. It's interesting, but expected with the JRPG's and price drops. Still, even the Wii isn't what it could be in Japan, due to Handhelds and Cell Phones.

Sony makes strides in NA against M$ home country, meanwhile M$ is starting to make strides against Sony in their home country...although 3 weeks isn't enough of a catch up.

Haha, my brothers who traveled to Japan said the 360 is pitiful there. That there's a small section for it in the back of all the videogames stores.

I showed them what was going to in all, and they think it's crazy!

Almost 50% from week 1 to week 2, almost 33% down from week 2 to now. If the trend continues, the PS3 will have taken back the position of fourth place, which is, somehow, "Sony Land" in some people's opinions. :?

Simply put the Wii has the untapped market of grandmas and grandpas and soccer moms behind it to fuel it which is why so many crappy casual games are comming out for it and pretty much every true gamer is disapointed with the system, My launch wii has sat here unplayed for most of this year it acts as a 250 dollar usb charging hub for my ps3 and 360 controllers and headsets. thats not a good thing.

Simply put nintendo is digging them selves a massive grave they are gonna come up with next gen and be like how can we duplicate the success? they cant because the soccer moms and grandmas and grandpas have all ready purchased the wii and likely wont purchase a follow up system, and they've shunned the true gamers.

Even at the highest market share they still aren't producing that many compelling games for those of us that dont wanna play the 15th version of another party game that was just like the last one, or shoot targets...ect

I've been in alot of stores and whenever i see any one purchasing a wii whos geting it? a mom or grandmother or grandfather Last time I was in gamestop a mother and her 2 young daughters came in purchased a wii and what game did they get? catz!!

lol simply put a good 70% of the wii userbase is these types of people people that have never played a game before, and then you have the people thinking they are making a wise choice cause its cheap and its consistantly sold out so that must mean its good right? *shakes head* Microsoft and Sony only need to sit there before the wii's market pretty much self destructs.

Well, maybe because they meant that adding up the last 4 weeks = one month which means that despite that 800 consoles sold week for the 360, for the entire month, the 360 outsold the PS3.

What Are you talking about? I've been gaming since the Atari 2600. I remember the NES coming out. I remember not wanting one, since I had the Atari 5200 to hold me over. I remember playing my Sega Mastersystem. I remember finally getting an NES and subscribing to Nintendo Power(I still have issue #1).

Gaming may be going to hell, but so is everything else, look around.

I have a Wii, I don't need other companies doing it for sales sake.

I like Chocolate and Vanilla.

I don't need Vanilla Taken out of my life for more flavors/Versions of chocolate.

Each Console provides a different flavor, and I wouldn't want to lose tha, even if the Golden Years are Over.

the year isnt over yet in NA. I think september-december will be very nice to 360. at $400 and with the economy in NA, PS3 wont do so hot at that price.

I've never said the PS3 is doing well in Japan. Where are you getting that from? The fact is Japan doesn't care about consoles like PS3 and X360. All I said was why give MS kudos. Yes it barely beat PS3, but who cares it's numbers are still garbage when it can't even beat PS2.

They've been doing terribly, worse than the PS3 for almost the entire gen.

Any credit could be given to the competitors, who have at least one extremely successful platform selling tons over there.

MS has done a good job of securing jrpgs, despite their success.

Its weird how ppl (not sure if ur a cow) dont even recognize how 360 has improved over last gen.
