Makes no difference.
They're all made in China.

I would have to go with Japanese games because JRpgs are my favorite genre.dr_mindbender12
Yea for Europe. Most of my favorite games are European.
America makes the best FPS/Action games. The only good Japanese games are RPGs, but i think America will be making more of those.
American only? Not sure, but I may side with the shooters as opposed to the RPGs. :D
Western in general though, comfortably.
[QUOTE="dante_123456"]japanese games. 90% of games made in america are either FPS, or GTA clones. imo Japanese games are more original.
Â
P.S theres only a certain amount of times you can have a game based off of WWIIÂ

The GTA developer Rockstar North is actually a UK developer believe it or not. Or were you just saying the clones of the game come from American developers?
Yeah theyre based in Edinburgh, although before the company became rockstar and was bought by Take 2 Interactive, they were based in Dundee and called DMA Design or something like that. Im saying Japanese cos I cant be bothered looking through all my games to check where the company hails from. I just hate American games cos too many are racing and shooting games.
[QUOTE="Hyper-Chicken"][QUOTE="pundog"]Canadian. Bioware+Ubi Montreal. And EA Canada has turned out some good games.pundogBioware is Canadian? Yeah. Based in Edmonton. I can't explain why anyone would be based in Edmonton but they are. I can't think of any other off the top of my head but I think there are some other good Canadian developers. But Bioware and Ubi Montreal are AAA machines.
LOL, excuse me??? Why wouldn't they base in Edmonton?
Sounds like a little jealousy!!!

i made a thread saying Ps3 is beating the 360 in Japan and it's over and some guy actually trying to argue with me that Japane doesn't make the Majority of Console games. I just saw this and to no surprise Japanese games are winning and this just adds to my thread that if they make more Games in japan for PS3 over Xbox cause thats whats hot over there then 360 could be doomed. the fact that alot of english speaking people love ajpanese games shows how important that market is. cause in Japan there a bigger differance in Taste a post like this will be 80% Japanese games or more.LOL. What a narrow view of the world. The PROPER terms are "Western" and "Eastern."
I tend to play more western-style games..but I very much enjoy games from both influences.
it doesn't have to be american, but ANYTHING non-japanese..
anime blows on sooo many levels...
tango90101
Eh? You don't play Japanese games because of anime?
How does that make sense?
Oh gee thanks, defeat all the collective development effort of the Europeans why don't you?! *strops out of forum*
I honestly don't give a damn if it's Capcom America or Capcom Japan making my games, why should I? As long as the end result is something I enjoy then that's all I care about, if a Japanese developer wanted to make a game with westernised aesthetic and you like that, then you should like it just as much as the equally grounded American made game (assuming al things being equal of course).
Â
In fact given that Japanese developers are increasingly becoming more westernised the lines are between them are beggining to blur.

It doesn't really, many Japanese games are now actually being tailored towards western tastes, just look at games like Resident Evil and newer examples like Lost Planet. We also only get a thin sliver of what the Japanese market place has to offer since publishers are so risk averse.

lol @ people who think there are no good western RPG's. Western gaming is also PC based as well as console based. If you include PC games Western titles are far more diverse in nature and in my opinion of a higher quality. Â
Strategy games such as Civ, Total War, Warcraft, Warhammer and so on are just light years ahead of Japanese console strategy based games.
Likewise the broad umbrella of RPG's range from KOTOR, Diablo, Oblivion, Morrowind, World of Warcraft, Baldur's gate, Guild Wars, Jade Empire, Mass Effect (which all have very different styles and approaches) etc. rather than the much more confined and similar style of JRPG's.
In shooters there is no comparison (do I need to list these?), nor racing games (again any need, with the only notable Japanese exception being perhaps MarioKarts and Motorstorm vs a whole swath of western titles from PGR and Forza to colin McRea).
Sports again western games romp home, with a vast sprawling industry from soccer, football, table tennis, rubgy, cricket, baseball, hockey, etc etc. Vs ummm wii sports?
Platformers again there are some notable western games (ie Prince of persia) but Japanese here are the slight winners for me here.
Fighting games Japanes reign here, no real contest.
Action games I'd call it very close with Japanese games coming out slightly on top. MSG, RE, NG, dead rising on one side vs GoW, GTA (and all its clones), Bully, Hitman, Manhunt etc.
I'm not saying this is a definative list, far from it but it really boils down to what type of game you prefer, but for me western games = more diversity, more freedom and longer lasting enjoyment.
[QUOTE="lowe0"]American games, by a long shot. I rarely see Japanese games worth my time, but Bungie, id, Valve, Epic, Rockstar, Ubisoft, and Remedy consistently produce great stuff. Arnalion
Ehm. Rockstar is English, Ubisoft is French and Remedy is Finnish...

Actually I think R*North are Scottish.
