So everyone thinks Modern Warfare 3 will flop now because of some people getting fired?
InsaneBasura
The majority who play MW2 probably don't even know what an Activision is, much less Infinity Ward or its studio heads. Even if the quality is not quite there they'll still buy it because it says "Call of Duty" on the front. Which is why Activision is seemingly planning on putting Call of Duty stickers on all future games.
Eventually I'm sure the brand will have been sufficiently devauled for Activision to dump the IP and its developers, but that won't happen until 2011 at the earliest I think.
Ok then. Thanks for telling me that.
It just looks like two people got fired for doing something they shouldn't have been doing.
Nothing to fret about.

Evidently you've been asleep while Acti distributed all the press releases explaining carefully and in explicit terms how evil they were?

and Infinity Ward is known for what other game other than Call of Duty?
Activision and Blizzard are already corrupt companys.
Blizzard only cares for one game and that's World of Warcraft and Activison loves Milking franchises.
2 people got fired. Will that stop Activision and Blizzard making games? Will that stop people from Buying Games?
I'd be more devistated if it was EA or Capcom.

Did you miss everything else that has been going on with Activision today? It's not just about two guys getting sacked. It's the probable reason for why they were sacked that matters. Just read this and this. Basically it seems like IW wanted to pursue their new IP, Activision wanted MW3 NAO, couldn't get it due to contractual obligations, manuevered IW into breaching the contract, nullified contract, fired unhappy dudes, seized complete creative control over Call of Duty IP, handed it out to various studios taht are not IW, now in the process of running it into the ground and experimenting with digital business models.
It is also possible that West and Zampella did go behind Activision's back and had meetings with rival publishers to discuss potential business. This would make Activision in the right to sack them, but that wouldn't really do much to change the situation. All that other business is still happening.
And really, knowing Activision's history regarding these kinds of things, I wouldn't bet on them.
See the Brutal Legend mess.
How about make it more like Guitar Hero?
How about no?
How about we don't publish your game any longer?
How about we find another publisher?
How about we sue your ass?
How about we countersue?
????
Profit for someone.
And the Call of Duty 2 stuff.
We want to move the franchise into the modern era, we th...
No.
But th..
No. Unless you make it a WW2 FPS we won't give you access to console dev kits. Creative freedom.
Activision is a smeggy company, they do smeggy things. Although IW is pretty smeggy too. So maybe there's a chance I'm wrong. Don't have all the facts. Actually it's uncertain if we have any really. Speculation cobbled together through various unnamed sources. Either way, disregarding why they were fired, the future sucks. And that is all Activision's fault.
I'm rambling way too much.
Senor, did you read the rest of Gamasutra's article? I recommend doing so.InsaneBasuraI have. What part of it contradicts or invalidates anything I posted? I searched and couldn't find it... or were you just suggesting I read it because it's an interesting article?
It's ironic that these guys were trying to shop around a new IP to a new publisher while still under contract with Acti and got fired for it... but in the fallout of all of this IW is still around but they're not making COD games anymore and will probably be doing previously said new IP or some other project.
