Well gosh, the amount of staggering, intelligent and relevant things that he talks about is a gift to the industry and people should stop, listen and take notes. I would even recommend a court recorder be appointed to him at all times so every brilliant statement he spews is recorded for all eternity. He said the 360 has the best development tools when asked a question and that's it.
It's not really his fault that some fanboys are full with ignorant rage/hate and don't actually read the articles but only the sensationalist attention seeking headlines and then rush like drones to post ignorant hateful comments.
considering he's also mentioned the 360 haveing the better architecture and the tools being worse on the ps3 because of the CELL, you need two compilers/toolchains for it, so this is a case where the architecture is directly related to why the tools are worse. And all the quotes I've seen from him he's been very specific in saying the ps3 has a higher peak, not power, which doesn't necessarily mean the sustained throughput is maintainable. And hes even said that they both can perform better and different cases. Either way I think yoru missing something in regards to why some people posted what they said, Carmack has said a lot of things even though this particular article doesn't say much about them.
Well if his top two were the Dreamcast and PS3 respectively the I would be okay with that. Neither would crack my top 3 but they are certainly some of my favorite. And eventually the PS3 became my favorite of this current gen. And the dreamcast well.....it's the Dreamcast. So....duh.
Carmack is the Steve Jobs of game developers. A pioneer in the industry, and a pace setter. Love him, or hate him people listen to him when he talks. So with a new game coming out the media is sitting with baited breath listening for every nugget of wisdom he says.

I don't think saying someone hasn't accomplished anything since the ps2 released is a compliment, but maybe that's just me.
