Joystiq: "The Conduit is a distinctly ordinary game."

It seems that Joystiq is iffy on the upcoming FPS from High Voltage and Sega, The Conduit.

"If, as I am suggesting, you drop the sentiment -- the admiration for an indie developer -- and view The Conduit objectively, you might see a distinctly ordinary game.

That's what I saw this weekend. And, though I may purchase The Conduit as a statement of support, I already doubt I would ever see the game through, from beginning to end."

Other than that, it seems like they liked the game pretty well. I hope it turns out good. Who will be getting this one for the Wii?

To be honest, I don't know why people are hyping this AAA. It looks A or AA worthy. Dark_Link142

The reviewer's option was skewed in that he preferrs joypad controls to Wiimote/nunchuck controls i.e. MP3. That he said that he wouldn't consider buying the game, isn't as much condemning the gameplay, as the choice of control, which would govern a lot of games.

Frankly it sounds like a bad choice of person to give an relatively unbiased preview, regardless of how good the game really is.

I'd guess The Conduit will receive AA from most, AAA from a few, and derision from cows and lemmings who love their traditional controllers.

The controls were the best thing about it apparently. Well frankly, this game will not score well by most sites. The only thing it has going for it is that its on the wii but hey I could be wrong. Maybe a better dev will step up and take a shot after seeing this, we'll never know.

Honestly, I don't know of many people who thought that this wasn't going to be an average game. I applaud the developers for trying so hard, but it just looks like there is nothing special about this game.

Also BioShock, where'd you get that sig? :shock:

So, a game who focus more into multiplayer and less in originality (earth vs aliens) is being criticized for that, go figure.

And yes, the game looks like your every day FPS, but is not the only one nowadays.

I would never buy that game

For one i rarely buy shooters, and then the only thing attracting me to shooters is visuals and atmosphere, and this game looks terrible comparing to next gen shooters on PS3/360 for me

So, unless the shooting is so amazing as in Aliens shooters that i loved for the gameplay, i doubt i would ever buy it
