If so many peoples see this game like this, it's may be because it's a PC game. Seriously, it's one of the best RPG I have ever played.Redgarl
yeah well, look at bioshock. It's basically a prettier, dumbed down version of system shock 2. Everyone ignored SS2, but they love bioshock. They even have the same storyline lol.
so, sometimes people don't appriciate a good thing for awhile. Don't worry. Maybe they'll make a Witcher Lite for consoles or something. Then they can drool all over it

I just hope that CDprojekt will release an expension pack before releasing the original game on 360 or PS3.

Because the story is doesn't a right answer. Whatever is your choice, the end will repesent your choice.
Like it or not, The Witcher got something that few RPG got.

Well, it sounds like he didn't even get to Act II, which is when the game really starts to gain momentum. Act I is merely average, but after that the game is just incredible.
Honestly, I think the game is decent at best. The story is the same as the other 100's of RPGs, The gameplay is boringly slow-paced, even for an RPG, and not to mention the HORRIBLE item menus. The one thing I hated the most was I played the demo for hours trying to figure out what to do. Somehow the developers seem to think that the player contains some psychic ability to know exactly where to go. I talked to everyone in that bloody town and I just got fed up. Zero Punctuation was right on one thing. A game is supposed to be fun, not feel like a choir, and this game just felt like a choir to play.The_Fat_Gamer
I'm dying to know which games you've been playing.
I can understand witcher not being some people's cup of tea but I'll never understand how people find it complicated. The entire first act is a tutorial and everything is logged in the journal if you need to reference anything.
I beat witcher without even opening the instuction manual. Maybe it's because im doing college level algebra right now and EVERYTHING is simple compared to that
Hang on...
Ten years ago we had Fallout 2, nine years ago we had Torment.
So surely The Witcher is the best RPG of the last eight years (or at least roughly equal with Vampire Bloodlines).
I have the witcher, didn't even bother playing through it, felt really boring at the beginning (dunno if things chance a bit as you go on), plus the dialogue/text/voice acting were beyond horrible/wierd.thejakel11225
Unlike most recent titles which present you with the biggest excitement in the beginning and end, everything in between is a borefest. The Witcher starts off slow, but it gets better and better the longer you play.
Mass Effect is a lot better, but Witcher is coming to 360 probably, it would be nice to have both anywaysaolin323
except that Witcher is full blooded RPG, while ME has more in common with shooters than RPG. You might like ME more, fine and all, it might be IYO better game, but it is without doubt much worse RPG
Plus you will sooner see ME on PC than Witcher on 360.

The Witcher is the best PC RPG to come out in the past few years. The best RPG from the last 10 years? I wouldn't go that far. And I haven't played Mass Effect yet.
Its a solid game but hardly the best from the last 10 years, or even the best of 07. Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw hit the nail on the head, it plays just like a mumorpuger with its annoying "collect X of Y" quests. It may be 80 hours long, but it feels like 60 of those hours are filler.
The game does a terrible job of explaining the gameplay mechanics, especially using books and alchemy. The misogynic "have sex with every woman you meet" aspect of the game is both unnecessary and dissapointing. If it accomplishes anything its just furthering Fox News' point that games use sex to sell. Also how anyone can say its one of the best RPGs when it barely runs on Vista (despite its Games for Windows badge) is beyond me. A good game, but it would have greatly benefitted from a better development team.

haven't played a lot of PC RPG's have you? Every single PC RPG I have ever played makes life as hard as possible for the gamer. Besides how on earth can Yathzee comment on it playing like a MMORPG when he hasn't even passed Act 1 and the same can perhaps be said about you.
im on chapter 2 and im loving it, and seriously dont use zero puntuation reviews seriously there really funny but he is paid to insult gamesSonir77
that's where I'm up to, i really like the game, i bet the console fanboys even believe oblivion is a better game, i have that game on PC to and its extremely boring compared to the witcher. The story, combat, environments and everything is just far better in The Witcher, and this is the developers first game!!! I cant wait to see what other games they plain on making..

I've been playing PC RPGs since the original Diablo, and the great ones do a good job of explaining the gameplay mechanics. They don't hold your hand, but they'll tell you useful information like "to add to the beastiary, collect and read books" or "in order to create bombs, you need to learn the bomb-making skill," rather than expecting you to already know it. I'm about halfway through Act 3 right now, but the crashes and fetch quests have me off the game. I'm not saying its a bad game, but it should have been much better.[QUOTE="PBSnipes"]Its a solid game but hardly the best from the last 10 years, or even the best of 07. did he seriously not play passed act 1? Lol if that's true then its a joke that people are even referring to his review, anyway, its obvious that he is there to bash a game as much as possible.

Sure, there are a handful of fetch quests in the game, but many of the other quests actually have some serious role-playing and consequences - which is rare in the RPG genre, and totally absent from MMORPGs.
Yahtzee's negative opinion of the game is based upon two factors:
1 - he doesn't seem to like any RPGs (for example, he barely touched Torment).
and 2 - he only played through the first few quests of the first chapter, which are probably the worst and most basic in the game.
*Edit* I'll admit that it's slow paced, and is somewhat flawed...but it's still better than most of the RPGs that we've seen in the last seven or eight years.
*Edit* Now that I think about it, Yahtzee's main complaint about most choices in gaming is that you're usually stuck with a generic good/evil mechanic - so if Yahtzee ever got around to actually playing the game, he'd probably praise it for its decision making.
anyone that bothered Reading my blog knows that I put the Witcher as my GotY. Over Crysis, over Mass Effect, over CoD4, over everything. It is the best RPG in recent memory. And anyone quoting the Zero Punctuation review.... why? He is payed to make fun of games.

I admit that I am not the best RPG player out there. I tend to steer toward RTSes and FPSes. The point of my post is still true, and most reviewers agree with my statements. The item menus and the overall interface is cluttered and unorganized. and the story just leaves you out in the cold about what to do. It is a good game don't get me wrong, but it is not even close to being one of the top RPGs in the last decade. I also do not know why my list of games I played recently holds any bearing over the validity of my opinion, but some of the games I have/am recently playing are: Bioshock, CoD4, Crysis, and The Witcher.
I wanna play it! *kicks legs and pounds on floor*
As soon as I updrage to a new PC will be in ultra gaming bliss. I'm already in "gaming bliss", but the ultra will be added when I get new computer :).
Indeed. Best RPG since original Fallout, better than any BG, KOTOR, Fallout2, Bloodlines or Arcanum. Heck...it even edges out ( a little, bust still) Torment.AdrianWernerSerious?
Since Fallout
Better than FO2, Torment and Bloodlines? What about Deus Ex? (even though it is semi RPG).
If it is that good, then perhaps I should buy it instead of Mass Effect. I really need a new RPG that can tear me away from playing through the original Fallout now. :P
