yet another developers stating the obvious fact the ps3 is not a developer-friendly architecture...

i think this is a sign of things to come. the ps3 is only on the market for less than a year and a ton of developers are already complaining about it....

i loved his analogy of circles, squares and triangles...

...great thinking, sony..

360 FTW :D

We already knew that PS3 was much harder to develop for. Ask anyone who has taken a computer architecture course, and they will tell you that. As someone who has taken an operating systems course, and they will probably tell you, "Sony is retarded... but thanks this hardware should be useful for some research!"

Cow palming it off as old news.

Sure, it's old news, but it's an indication that developers arent happy that theyre having to spend more time and resources ($$$$$$$$$$$$) on making PS3 games that they can't make their money back on - Hello Lair/Heavenly Sword.

How is this old news? Show us a link of KAOS saying this before. Sure many developers have said this but this is yet another devloper company to add to the long list.

Correction. The "lazy dev" claim is for the ports. As for the games made ground up is a different ballgame.

Apples and oranges, sir.It is your interpretation that is incorrect. Cows understand the PS3 is more difficult to develop for. Always have. Nobody has ever denied it. The resean they call devs lazy is for not taking the time or putting in the effort to LEARN the hardware...which is how you eventually get used to it and make it less difficult.

This makes no sense..

if sony had done their homework they would have created an architecture that is more user friendly to developers. After all, GAMES is what is driving this market.

w/o games, created on a cost efficient schedule, the ps3's developer base is going to continue to shrink with more developers ignoring the ps3... like Warner Games for instance....

I'm not saying Factor 5 is lazy. I mean, who am I to say these professional game developers are lazy? But it is their fault for not including analog control. :| Lair very well could have landed AA status with analog control.

You're ****ing kidding me, right? :|

1. I'm not claiming to be a professional game developer or anything close to that, but trust me. The PS3 architecture doesn't really make it harder to put in analog controls. If freaking Incognito could make great controls for Warhawks with the Sixaxis and analog, so could Factor 5.

2. Barely. The only complaints for the game I had (or remembered from reviews) were the controls and the camera. Both would have been fixed by making an analog controls option. (It feels more natural controling the dragon and camera on the sticks than dragon with sixaxis and camera with a stick)

3. No.

Any game announced for the PS3 for the most part has been hyped to be (insert godly mythic creature here) and absolutely crush anything on the competition. Not to mention this (insert PS3 game here) can only be played on the PS3 as the 360 can not create (insert random Sony pr banter here) like our PS3 can.

Duh, who else are you going to blame for not including analog control? :|

And no one said anything about AAA exclusives. You said just regular old exclusives. They were not all hyped AAA. :| Folklore and Warhawk for example are not flops.

1. it the architecture was easier to work on they would have included it.

2. the analog is only ONE of MANY problems stated with this game..

3. and yes...all ps3 exclusives were hyped AAA... silly i know, but they're ps3 zealouts...i would expect no less....

3. No.

1. noone has called warhawk's control "great" in any review...

2. if it just that easy, they would have done it. the fact that it is NOT so easy is the point of the topic

3. yep...

Just looked at IGN and Gamespots review. Both said it had great controls. :\ And why does a review have to say it for it to be true? If a review doesn't mention something, why does it mean they aren't good? :|

2. What the hell kind of logic is this? They didn't put in analog controls so that must mean its hard to put in? Again, I use Warhawk and Blazing Angels as perfect examples of good controls with sixaxis and analog sticks.

3. No. The fact that you think Cows hyped every single PS3 game AAA tells me you're nothing but a fanboy desperate for "ownage." Grow up.

I think I'm done with this topic...

Yes, it's Factor 5's fault Lair sucked, as a result of botched controls. They made the game didn't they? The game had no technical problems such as graphics or framrates from what I've played.

Are you really blaming the PS3 because Factor 5 didn't put analog controls in Lair? :|

Why is this news? Everybody knows that the PS3 is more difficult to develop for. Even the most fanatical cows understand this to be fact.

Magical_Zebra

That is incorrect sir. The fanatical cows will say that the problem is not with the PS3, but with the "lazy devs".

Just like the 360s games tend to suffer with poor framerates.

I'm having trouble figuring out these games too... Gears of War had some dips, but besides that I can't think of another 360 game with framrate problems. :|

I have never experienced that with Gears. But when the action gets extremely intense in TF2 the framerate can drop a bit. Other than TF2 I have never experienced framerate issues. So again, can I get a list of these framerate riddled games leejohnson?
