actually, its halo 2, SSBM, and rainbow six vegas on the 2007 MLG circuit.
SSB just gets overshadowed by halo on MLG.
[QUOTE="lespaul1919"]even so.....its not going to be competitive level.

And you know this...how?
good competitve games involve skill and teammwork. a steath type of game will never really rely on too much skill.

yeah, in games that are only FFA. but most offer team based ladders, especially the big money ones. in halo all FFA does is establish seed.

Actually, MLG gets tons of support from the Smash community and is not overshadowed by any games. However, MLG is taking their company in a different approach, thus removing Smash from their pro circuit. Anything Smash related will be handled by MLG in the future but it wouldn't be in the Pro Circuit like Halo is.

"MLG has big plans for Smash in 2007. Over the last three years, Major League Gaming has helped the Smash community develop high standards of quality for major tournaments and pushed the game to new levels of competitive play. MLG will continue that tradition in 2007 with a new approach to competitive Smash that will take place outside of the Pro Circuit. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for details. "

Only that MGS' multiplayer is more like Counterstrike than MGS. You'd now this if you have actually played the multiplayer from MGS3...
Here's an example. MGS3 Multiplayer
By the way, your definition of competitive games is way off. You completely block out fighters, RTS and some FPS games from your so called definition.

MGS will never be competitive or a title to become pro at. Especially judging by that video. His definition is right. Competitive games require skill and teamwork. Especially ones that become popularly competitive are ones with teamwork. And the ones with out teams need to have skill as a requirement. So there is nothing wrong with his definitionAll of those people who can't believe that SSBM is an ultra competitive game should just watch this:

However, this is from MGS3. How MGS4 is outfitted as a multiplayer game is anybody guess, thus cannot be judged just yet. Besides, MGS3 was played competitively.

I never said he was wrong, I said it was off. The fact is that competitive games don't need to always require teamwork. To say it does completely blocks out games that are popular in the competitive field.

1) Your opinion. The video was to prove that the multiplayer for MGS is not "stealth based" and "lacking teamwork" like you've put it.
2) Halo is simply more popular than SSBM. Still doesn't change the fact that Smash is one of the largest competitive fighting games out there.
ok...well, when MLG never picks it up dont say i never told you so. FPS's will always dominate competitive gaming. like it or not.

You're trolling too much.
By the way, the RTS genre is larger as a competitive genre than FPS games. Ask Starcraft.
trolling? huh? im posting with respect to the topic.
RTS? haha, ask CS. ask quake 3.
RTS is soooo boring to watch, it will never make it onto TV.
Actually they are on TV, when I am really bored I watch Starcraft and Warcraft III tournements. Quake 4 has basically taken over Quake 3. At least on TV.trolling? huh? im posting with respect to the topic.

It has nothing to do with "watch" and has plenty to do with support.
By the way, only Starcraft have full shows, events and stadiums devoted to showing off the game.
Don't believe me? Enjoy.
why are you saying i am trolling? you have no idea what you are talking about.
guh, RTS........GUH.
when i say TV...i mean national TV. USA, ABC, NBC, etc, etc.

By diminishing other games as viable competitive options, you are trolling. Seems like the only reasoning you bring to the table is ease of watch and TV. The fact is that getting Halo to show on USA has nothing to do with what is the most popular genre. The fact is that as a whole, RTS games are simply more popular as a competitive genre and is deeper as a genre as well.
It also doesn't change the fact that Starcraft (A RTS) is probably the most televised and publically popular competitive game in the world. Any other competitive game normally takes place in venues such as a gaming center or a large rented out hotel room. Starcraft competitions normally take place live on TV shows and in stadiums with people actually coming to watch. Name me a game that can compete with that kind of exposure, especially 9 years after it's release.

I not sure about pokemon, sorry.
But I like the pokemans ; _ ;You're missing so many on that list. Crysis, Bioshock, HL2EP2, Portal, RE5, Metroid Prime 3, etc..
Unless by "wanted by Pro gamers" you mean competitive games, which would might make more sense.
Bioshock doesn't even have multiplayer, and I don't think any of the ones you mention will become big competitive games. Not even Crysis. You're missing so many on that list. Crysis, Bioshock, HL2EP2, Portal, RE5, Metroid Prime 3, etc..
