Killer Instinct: Spinal Trailer - Fulgore Teaser

Killer Instinct fans eagerly awaiting the release of Spinal, rejoice! The folks over at IGN recently released a brand new preview trailer that showcases the veteran fighter in all his glory. Much of the teased gameplay elements are highlighted here, including a few new bits that are sure to excite longtime players.

Additionally, his full move list can be found here for those of you interested in all the tools he’ll have at his disposal.

The video also provides our first in-game look at the title’s next downloadable character, Fulgore, who should be arriving sometime in March.

IGN also scored some one-on-one time with the developers to gather even more background on Spinal and his place in the game, which you can check out in video form, along with footage of his Ultra Combo, below. More information is available in the original article.

According to IGN, Spinal will be available to download tomorrow, January 31.

By far the game I play the most on the XBONE / PS4. Spinal's laugh is ridiculous. (As in funny.)

Double Helix did an amazing job redesigning Spinal. Hell, they did an amazing job redesigning all the characters.

I will respectfully disagree with regards to Glacius. I liked the way he looked before, and I'm afraid they'll make Fullgore too skinny, too. I want them both to look like tanks.

I don't understand the gripes with Glacius, he's an alien and now he looks more like a proper alien. Besides, Glacius is a zoning character now.

I admit I've been button mashing with this game, actually it's calculated button mashing. I have yet tried the tutorials but this game is fun as hell. Any new/old characters added is definitely welcome!

Have you guys given Dojo a try? It teaches you just about everything you need to know about KI and fighting game mechanics.

Is the game coming to 360? Holy crap graphics looked bad in the first trailer...

The sad thing is, yes I did :( I've never been good at fighting games for some reason and this one is 10x's worse lol.

You just need to practice is all, KI should be a lot easier to play then most other fighting games since it doesn't have any crazy inputs and combos follow a simple pattern. The hardest part of getting good at any fighting game is building good fundamentals and mind games.

Yeah, also don't love that. I've never played the game, but Glacius always seemed like such an intimidating sort of character that a zoning style just didn't mix in my mind.

Glacius' zoning game is actually really solid in the new KI, it suits him quite well.

I've just been doing survival with each character and could reach up to level 20, with calculated button mashing ha. I haven't tried all the characters yet in survival and I haven't played online but I'll check out Dojo mode soon.

Love this game, can't wait to practice with him.

Im with you man. I even bought the damn 200 dollar Fight Stick and I still suck! TBH though I havent put much time into it. I was waiting for the fightstick to start and then I was way behind. Looking forward to both new characters. I just need to stop being so damn bad against humans.

its funny because I do dojo mode and I be soooooooo nice but online its like I don't push the buttons fast enough and I be getting killed I haven't plaed it in a month because of that and I'm usually good in fighting games

Survival is pretty easy to get that high in since the CPUs don't block a lot and all of their auto doubles are heavies. Taking time and actually going through as much of the Dojo as possible will teach you a lot, and as far as I know KI has the best tutorial (aka Dojo) in any fighting game.

Cool, I won't argue it. I just never imagined him like that. Perhaps one day I'll end up with an Xbox One and be able to play the game. It's gunna likely be quite some time, though. :P

Glacius can actually fully combo from full screen away cause his auto doubles at a distance are Glacius stomping or punching the ground and ice spikes come up from the ground. Zoning is Glacius' strong suit, but he can still lay on some intense close range pressure.

KI is what justified buying an Xbox One for me personally, but hey, $500 is a steep price to pay for just one game for most people.

The DH forums are going bananas over these videos and rightfully so. DH is doing an amazing job with the KI series thus far and it is only going to get better over time. Spinal was definitely worth the wait and Fulgore looks incredible!!

It's funny, I bought DR3, AC4, Forza etc but this game I manage to gravitate to every single day when I get home from work. Maybe I'm getting older and becoming a "casual gamer" or maybe this game is just that awesome! lol

I dont regret buying the Fightstick even though I suck. It makes the game more fun, plus there will be a ton of fighters with the same standard button setup coming along abx1 lifetime.

As far as the joystick goes, the thing is awesome. Great build quality though at 200 dollars it better be.

Can't wait to download Spiner tomorrow and give him a try. I purchased the full game, so I even have the original arcade Killer Instinct. Lots of stuff to download in the next few days.

I don't get jelly of last gen looking titles released on next gen just to fill the launch lineup list. If i wanted to play a fighting game i'd play MK9 that looks as good and released years ago.

Well, we'll just have to wait until season 2 for Riptor, though I can't wait to see how Riptor is redesigned after Sabrewulf's amazing redesign.

Ultras shouldn't be that difficult, all you have to do is input the Ultra mid-combo once the opponent is in the danger zone.

Glacius is an alien, now he looks more like an alien, that's all I'm saying, no need to take it out of context.

I think it was the developers that said they would love to clone FilthieRich so we can have his Glacius vs his Spinal, and I'd love to see some good Spinal vs Glacius matches.

@silversix_: Except it doesn't look like a last gen game, it looks better than any fighting game I've seen on the PS3 or 360, and most videos don't do it justice, you have to see the game on a nice TV , some of the backgrounds are great with lots of stuff going on, and the character models are pretty big and very detailed. Awesome looking fighter, imo anyways.

That is so true. Had been watching the news for it up until launch and when I finally saw it on my TV I was blown away.

KI is one of the two games i've seen on a nice tv 1 month before X1 release. Yes it looked better than your standard 720p games but it doesn't look next gen at all. Cool particle effects and art direction but not technically impressive

I'd agree with this, rock-solid 60fps does make up for most all of it's graphical shortcomings though. Plus it's a fighter, chances are GGXRD could be playable on a PS3 or 360 with no downgrade but nobody will complain.

Over my 30+ years of gaming somethings just don't change. Some people are all about graphics. Gotta be shiny cutting edge every game made, for them. I'm thankful to my creator I'm not afflicted with this. If the game is entertaining, then its entertaining, to me.
