Killzone 2 also happens to be Sony's fastest-selling title ever in the US, in terms of reaching 500,000 unit sales...:(
WHO CARES. The game is amazing. Dont be Jelous cause you dont have a PS3. I started out with a 360, bought a wii, then a PS3. Ps3 mainly for the exclusives. But Killzone 2 single player smokes anything on 360 FPS single player campaign wise. Lets be honest here, the reason it hasnt sold real well is because A the ps3 its self doesnt sell well due to the price alone if it was $250 liek 360 I bet out would outsell 360. B PS3 owners arent FPS buffs like 360 users. 2006 called. He wants his excuses back.[QUOTE="-DrRobotnik-"]In other news, Halo 3, a 20 month old game outsold Killzone 2 last monthNephilim83:lol: Anyway, 360 fanboys wouldn't be playing Halo 3 so freakin' much if MS would actually come out with something else for them to play! not a wise comment
soo sales matter now?
wierd.
SW always changes when you least expect it :P
tbh. there are better games that sell less

Again, Cows only want to shine their spotlight on Halo...not the game KZ2 which is the topic. But it's alright. Halo 3 is still in the top 20 top selling games in NA. Keep it on topic cows. It's like the dude driving by in the Ferrari with the hot chick and your friend goes "What a d***" ....It's called jealousy.

im glad we have snuffed the flash in the pan shooter and i hope the trend continuesThat's a shame especially in FPS country, they love shooters over there.
gago-gago

Not really. Halo 3 is just that badass.
Sure, it isn't the prettiest or the most advanced or even the most spectacular game, but that doesn't change how much I have with it.
Theres a reason I'm still playing a 2 year old game religiously, and thats because it has managed to entertain me for that long.
Do people have realistic standards at ALL ANYMORE. The game supposedly is a little more then 2 million in THREE MONTHS and yet somehow thats a bad thing???? Sony's games sell over time and build up on sales. Javy03VG charts has the game at 1.59 million do that is 410k short of 2 million let alone more then 2 mill like you say it is. Yes VG charts is bad but if you have a better source then fine.
That's a shame. Tons of people are missing out on an amazing game.Nephilim83
I think it's really a "been there, done that" attitude towards the game, and increasingly towards FPS' as a whole

The game destroys any FPS single player on 360, reviews agree. Why is this thread still going on? Haven't we established the fact that the game did do pretty well in sales and that sales don't make a game great? clubsammich91as some one posted earlier 1.5m for a game that took 4 years to come out does not constitute "pretty well in sales"

ive used vgchartz only when there is no other source but vgchartz doesnt track the entire sales of a game simply because groups like NPD do not report on all retailers, so if anything it should be more then 1.59 mil. but by how much is the question, and that also goes for all the games on vgchartz so its not like kz2 is being purposely under-tracked

so its sony that takes the loss, they already paid GG if you think about it, GG didnt fund the development, sony did. and the game was finished last year (possibly sooner) but was pushed back remember? (though that as prolly a good thing so they could work out bugs alot better with more time)

Granted KZ2 sold alittle less than HL2 in the first 2 months, but my point still stands. Since HL2 took 6 years to make and was also really hyped, I see a really big hole in your and everyone else's argument. KZ2 is a good game and is selling well, end of story.

I am not defending anyone's opinions nor am I saying KZ is a bad game and is selling poorly...
But you simply can not use HL2 a 4 year old game to justify it's pace of sales....The industry as a whole has seen substantial growth from that time period..So the point you are trying to make is not incorporating any growth the industry has seen...so your point is invalid on that merit alone...

You missed my point entirely. People are saying KZ2's sales are bad when it's selling about the same as another high profile game. It has nothing to to with the "growth of the industry" in the last 4 years. HL2-PC(up until the xbox version) KZ2 PS3. They are 2 completely different areas.as some one posted earlier 1.5m for a game that took 4 years to come out does not constitute "pretty well in sales"Funny, that's about the same as Half-Life 2 sales numbers?(this article was written about 2 months after HL2 came out). Funny, you should read your link again..."sales figures from Steam are not included in the 1.7 million figure". Steam is accounting for almost 25% of WW sales. It took 7 weeks for killzone to sell one million. So in fact, you should say Killzone2 sold almost half of what Half Life 2 sold in the same time period.Half life 2 sold 6.5m so you can expect killzone 2 to sell 3m at best!

Growth in the indusrty was just a bunch of people picking up Wii's how does that make any sales for KZ2?

you may have a point if it wasnt for the 3 sales records that were broken this gen, none of which were on the Wii:
halo 3
gta 4

Industry as a whole has grown...At it's basic level there more consumers in this industry now... thus making any sales of a game especially 4 years ago moot...The PS3 is on the same sales curve as the PS2.... 8 years ago....Does that make the PS3 sales as good as the PS2?.....No they don't.....Because there is no growth factored into the forecast/sales to account for the influx of new consumers in the industry... It's the same as using Halo 3 sales 4 years from now "if" the industry has grown 200%...H3 numbers are not going to represent a true comparison and give an accurate accounting on how a product is moving.
My only grip is the poster is using "a high profile game" that is 4 years old to say to the world... "Hey look HL2 sales were XXX and KZ are right behind them"..It's selling just as good as HL2...It's so inaccurate I needed to point it out...and simply say "use a game closer in time to validate the point that was expressed"
