There seems to be this "logic" going around that Killzone 2 flopped because "it cost too much to make". The figure that gets thrown around, whether true or not, is that the game cost $60 Million. Fanboy Lems then try and claim the game only sold 700,000 or so units (ignoring the fact that this was in two days).
However, if wikipedia is to be believed, there were 1.1 million pre-orders. So... basically, since the game retails at $60, and even if the only people that got the game were those that pre-ordered, the devs have already broken even (60 x 1.1 million = $66 Million).
Obviously, many many many more will buy this game in addition to those that pre-ordered, so already at this early stage is seems very clear that the devs have made a huge profit.. and that is before they license the engine to other devs...
There will obviously be a third game, based on the same engine, which will cost much less to make but will prob turn even higher profits. Lets not forget, Gears 1/2 was built upon an existing engine.. that is why they churn the games out so fast...
So how can people claim Killzone 2 flopped financially?
