This is really annoying.. I know you are not forced to buy maps but they keep releasing them like every 2 mouths, which is kinda lame...

heres a new map pack- http://www.gametrailers.com/video/napalm-killzone-2/52884

It looks pretty cool, but iam not buying it.. The olny new cool feature is that you could use bold gun and flamethrower...

At least it's not as bad as MW2 where map packs are being announced before the game is released.

That's nothing, map packs are required to play Team Slayer (and almost every other playlist) in Halo 3

Capcom charges you for content that was already on the disc, this is far from the biggest milkage

What KZ2 is doing is nothing out of the ordinary. Everyone is doing it now, but atleast its not gonna be MW2 with its day one map packs. LOL if anyone buys those map packs i will offically have lost what little faith i had left in humanity.

Honestly, it's driving me away. I already paid $6+ for Flash and Thunder, and hardly anyone ever plays those maps anyway. It's really frustrating to buy something only to rarely ever be able to play on it. I can see how COD4 and MW2 can/will get away with it, because being mainstream multi-plat games that have a VERY large cult following, as well as a LOT of casual/hardcore appeal, they can get away with milking their audiences. It seems, however, that the KZ2 playerbase is dwindling already, as well as it seeming like not a lot of people are too interested in playing on the DLC maps. I didn't get Steel and Titanium because I didn't like the maps too much. And I don't think I'll be getting this next pack either. I think I'd rather spend $15 on BF1943. i will agree with the TC here. GG, whilst being an excellent developer, is nickel and diming it's fan base to the point of driving them away. Why not wait another few months, and then release a $10 pack with 4 maps, some extra weapons, and maybe an extra class or two? make a freakin' bargain. $6 for two maps you're rarely ever going to play is kinda asking a lot. at least, to me anyway.

I guess killzone multiplayer is turning into a ghost town.. not if the maps are actually GOOD. Southern Hills and Crazy Train maps are well worth the purchase. As well as the new ones that add the flame thrower and bolt gun. If the maps offer something new and never before seen in multiplayer map history like southern hills and crazy train then i would not consider to it to be milkage...but support.

Well, I do agree that the price of the maps is kinda unreasonable, I mean $6 for 2 maps?! However, the maps are pretty good and very well-designed. I always felt that the maps for this game were very well-designed, and the map pack maps are still like that, if not better than the ones that released with the game. I would agree that the price is kinda unreasonable, but the maps are widely playable(at least for me, I can still get into plenty of games in the evening/night that use the new maps) and are very good. Plus, some new features added make it all worth it. $6 for 3 Resistance 2 maps seems like a bargain, yes? Unfortunately, hardly anyone plays those, bargain pricing or not. I think GG is just trying to support the game as much as they can before it inevitably dies off. It's already somewhat dying, but it still has enough life in it to bring in more maps and features. Let's just hope the damage isn't too severe come Fall when MW2 comes out.:( Also, the biggest milkage to me, for PS3 at least, is LBP DLC. I don't need all that extra stuff to enjoy the game. Costumes for $2 a piece is kinda pricey, too.

Biggest milkage? Apparently you haven't seen EA sports games in action recently. The NCAA football game that came out like 3 days ago got a grand total of 17 addons released yesterday! Everything from more slots to build teams, to improved recruiting, more pipelines, 5 star players... and ALL of his is already on the disc, you are just buying the unlock codes. Now that is milkage. KZ2/Halo3/CoD mappacks are very popular to fans of the series and help those who put hundreds of hours into these games frsh content to keep them excited. They are a great value compared to some other DLC out there.

Nah, Capcom has that down pat. As for these maps they will be awesome like the others. Southern hills and beach head are my favs. The wasteland is right behind it because of how unique it is.

I will be getting it, and the boltgun and flamethrower look awesome I just wish you could equip it standard and make the default class actually useful besides the LMG.

Or give the assualt class the LMG i mean seriously GG is it that hard to give them a LMG instead of the rocket launcher?

I think LBP takes the milkage cake instead. But I do agree just 2 maps every couple of months gets annoying. It makes you understand why people hate DLC, especially when it's like this. They should just wait and combine all these maps then release them in a better package.

What would you consider a "better package"? A pack with 4 maps that costs $11.99? That would be the same as it is now, but with more waiting.

Now, I don't particularly agree with the prices, but I'm a KZ2 fan and the maps are superbly designed and fun as hell. Looking forward to the new pack and weapons.

As for LBP, I agree. From the games that I own, I believe that MM are milking add-ons for that. The price-value I mean.

Hey guys, I understand some of your points and respect your opinions, but...

1.) I don't see how additional DLC takes away from the original box value/ quality/ appeal of the game (especially if you don't think many users play those maps anyway). Also, the time frame in which the maps have been released is nice. Though, I wish the packs were $4.99.

2.) KZ2 is addictive and fun, the accessibility is it's weak point (if you want to call it that). The game's sty|e and mechanics naturally sift out a hardcore audience. It's unforgiving and takes skill to master the game.

3.) Acquiring 100,000 game points, unlocking every mix & match option, all ribbons/ badges, and staying consistent with honor rankings are more than enough to keep players interested. Concerning unlocks and incentives that is.

COD4 breaks that rule. They released one terrible map pack and that was it.

There should be more gametypes. I would play Killzone more if it wasn't so boring.

1) Any game takes skill to master.

2) No, it's not unforgiving. I'm tired of hearing people say it's hard to have a good k/d in this game, it's really not. I have 3 PSN accounts, all at1.9 or above. I play on my friends account when I go over to his house and I still finish with 2.0 k/d or above while still leading my team in points. He's one of the highest ranks in the game.

I don't brag about skills because I don't think I'm that good at most games, but I keep hearing how KZ2 takes so much skill to play and all this other stuff but I don't have any problems, at all.

I suppose you would've rather they had not released the game and instead just kept adding more and more maps infinitely without ever letting anyone play the game?

KILLZONE 2 THE MILKAGE OF ADD-ONS? dude, one costume (yes, just one costume) is like at least 5 bucks sometimes with Idolmaster. and sometimes, you have to buy each one for each of your character. and there are tons of costumes. and songs. and countless other things.

Every decent shooter is going to have map packs, why is it bad to announce it?

First of all, you're a good player. Not everyone can and will have stats like that, and you and I can't be an indication of casual players as a whole.

I didn't say other games don't take skill to master. I just think KZ2 is less forgiving than say COD4, WAW, or R2. I say so because of these reasons:

---

1.) No fully regenerating health/ armor. You're dependent on a medic to heal you (unless you're a medic yourself). And the health you can regenerate, does so much slower.

2.) You die quickly. Adding a high player count can be overwhelming and frustrate casual players. You can die quick in COD4 as well, but the respawn wait time is nonexistent, in addition, you can hide and recharge your health to 100%.

3.) GG interpretation of controlling the character leads to unorthodox aiming (different dead zone), and momentum. Add in the unique recoil and lack of ability to shoot whilst jumping, almost non-existent aim assist (amongst other things) and it changes the way players are used to playing on consoles.

4.) The matchmaking isn't as in-depth as popular titles. You basically only have the option to play with everyone (including high ranks), or only players with your number rank.

---

I'm not saying KZ2 is better than those games at all though. There are many things they do better than KZ2, the main one is appealing to a wide audience.

[QUOTE="0rin"] Honestly, it's driving me away. $6 for two maps you're rarely ever going to play is kinda asking a lot. at least, to me anyway.Episode_Eve

Agreed, well iam gonna stop playing killzone multiplayer since its gettting more boring.. And when i do log on i notice there are less people to play with.. I guess killzone multiplayer is turning into a ghost town.. Hopefully in the next killzone they actually make it worth playing by making it more addictive, and adding more ranks/classes that would want to actually make people want to play more

I already unclocked every thing in the game, whats the point of playing it? People are soo easy to kill aswell, but there one thing that pisses me off about kilzone.. The lenght of the matches are soo freaking long!!

Yeah, the matches are long by default, but can be customized (and often are). I think the fun factor would keep people playing, but it seems you don't see it as fun enough to do so. I guess you only like unlocking stuff.

It takes a long time to unlock everything, mix badges, and reach 100,000 GP. I'm surprised you got that far and don't find it fun enough to continue.

At least it's not as bad as MW2 where map packs are being announced before the game is released.

but they are free........................on pc. the dlc is what happens when ms brings it money making machine to consoles and now every company has cottoned onto a new easy way to make money. had xbl never come along they would release the game with all the content rather than releasing a short game then making you pay for stuff only a month or so after release.

Killzone 2 isn't the biggest DLC milker. at least they don't cost much. what about COD4 and WaW? those MAP PACKS cost $15 to $20 (PS3) down here in aus! LBP is a bit over the top, and Burnout Paradise omfg, if you bought the original game THEN the DLC you'll be paying well over $150! those things are like $20 each! (they're good but too expensive)

KZ2 is far from the biggest milker.

Wish Socom Confrontation got that kind of support...Slant Six isn't releasing any DLC till the end of the summer, 10 months after the release of the game :(
