killzone 2 -- overrated?

I just picked up a PS3 -- been playing through the demos available, so far I can't find a single game that really blows me away, (different topic for a different thread), but I was surprised how undewhelmed I was by the Killzone 2 demo. Granted, it's just a demo, but as far as graphics king of shooters, I don't know. Honestly, the shooting in ME2 felt more satisfying and looked better, and that's an RPG. None of the combat had that "satisfying" feel of a good shooter, all the enemies looked the same, and the whole tone just felt like a Gears rip-off.

Am I missing something? The graphics seemed above average, nothing mind-blowing.

the online was pretty fun when it came out

i personally never really liked the campaign, it's too tight but doesn't even have the design flair of other linear scripted shooters like Uncharted 2, Gears or etc., each battle is just so slowly paced and without any climactic finishes and the vehicle sections are a joke

the graphics are nice because of the gritty/dirty look to it, but it's not as "mind-blowing" anymore

basically it's a totally average fps with good graphics, the story sucks too, but Guerilla Games did at least do some things right with the online - if only it had staying power

Aside from me having an opinion that it ISNT, Call of duty MW2 online I heard is now a sad glitchfest. I wouldnt buy it if I were you TC. Buy Battlefield: Bad company 2, it is way better than MW2, and funner too.

imo MW2 had the better campaign, but Killzone 2 had the better multiplayer

i think the biggest complaint people had early on was how slowly you moved around and how it was almost impossible to be twitchy, but besides that imo everything about Killzone 2's MP was better designed than MW2's MP

the online is pretty much the only thing i give KZ2 props for, tho it did have some flaws that made people get bored of it

I think you are alone in that opinion...it is widely accepted that MW2 is the most casual noob friendly FPS shooter on the market

What? MW2 was a pure disapointmen and easily one of the most milked franchises of this generation. Killzone 2 was downright amazing, and the online is damn fun too.

Loved KZ2. Lots of action, great level design. Very thrilling especially on the harder difficulties. Love the cover system. Towards the end it truly felt epic. Something I feel Halo 3 never achieved in it's final moments.

I dunno who buys a console to say crap like this.In fact I'm willing to bet you don't even owna PS3.

no way I had more fun with the killzone 2 campaign and one of the reason is it lasted me way longer with COD MW2 when I beat the game I was wondering if it was a joke I felt like I was just getting started.

the campaign in KZ2 blows away the mw2 campaign the only redeeming quality that I feel MW2 has over Killzone 2 is specops which is nice I wish killzone had that but besides that Killzone 2 is better.

really? because I found that when I played, except for the boss fight against radec, the NPCs were extremely helpful and could almost take out everyone in certain sections of the game without me killing a single enemy

The controls are what ruin Killzone 2. That and the blur effects which make me feel like my character has glaucoma or something.

Right here. Bought it for Blu-ray.

Got it day one played through almost the entire SP, but got bored. tried MP. controls were horrendous at launch with its input lag, patched itand itwas better. By then though I didnt care about the game anymore and traded it in for Infamous. So yes IMO it is overrated cause the graphics arnet OMGZ AMAZING EITHER if you have a decent PC. They are good though.

Play the full game and you will see how good KZ2 looks. When i played the demo i thought the same thing. But Killzone 2 is still a great shooter, infact one of my favourites, especially the multiplayer :D

It's single player was pretty bland. I think they should've took some notes from half-life, in the single player department because I didn't enjoy most of it. Multiplayer was ok, and graphic wise it was pretty cool. I did sell my copy though...

I'll wait and see if they make improvements in the sequel. And I hope they'll make helghast playable because honestly, they're the "kerberos soldiers" look a like.
