Actually a mixture of ragdoll, scripting and technical wozardry to make each bullet make the enemy react very realisticly, this is basicly the first game ever on a console where it actually looks like the enemy has been hit by a bullet, not a piece of foam...NinjaMunkey01right, without penetration marks, dismemberment, or anything 'real'. people don't flail around like that when shot. don't believe me? check out some tour videos from iraq on youtube. it might look neat, but that is what a doll would look like if shot, not a human, or helghast :P. and there is no scripting.. scripting doesn't come in to play for ragdoll animations, usually just AI spawning / interaction, triggered events.
dont get me wrong, looks neat, music works well in the video. but if you think that's real you've been watching too many B movies :P
Good point but brace yourself for the "Its a game man not real life" responses. the human body does react differently than this to being shot....but I do love B movies! ;) Ok forget mr kingtuttles post, I am going to sort of use that response but its nothing to do wioth fanboyism, but what i really think. Guerilla games has gone for a very over the top setting with KZ2, I mean look at the atmosphere, its more hyped up than a hollywood shooter. no its probably not that realistic, Im not going to watch videos of people getting shot repeatedly to prove it or anything, but having the enemies react like that is much better than in most games where they do nearly nothing at all, usually you just get a flinch. And its the way that every single bullet really has an impact thats impressive, from that aspect its more realistic. Perspnally id rather it were more over the top. And about your scripting comment, Im sure it does, moterstrom uses a mix of ragdoll and scripted motions to make crashing look real, look it up, I promise you and I rememner in an interview on KZ2 it was mentioned.
