I just want this game already. I dont care about it being compared to Halo. I know KZ 3 will be good and I will have fun with it. So thats all that matters to me.
If Halo is so "overrated and generic", then why is Sony even trying to have their own "Halo"? ;)
AdobeArtist
Because it's fanboys saying it.. not Sony.
Killzone has never tried to have the same style or feel of Halo, that's why I like it over all the other copycat FPS (witch include Halo itself)

Pretty much any other FPS? I mean what exactly is it that sets it apart from all other FPS games? Obviously its got its own story (like every FPS), and top notch visuals and animation. Oh and the weighty controls (which you can look at as a plus or minus) but other than presentation, its nothing really out of the ordinary.

Yes Halo is a copycat FPS  The only game that is relatively the same as Halo is Tribes. I have only played Killzone 2 for about 5 hours, and I didn't even beat the Campaign in that time so I'm not gonna say if the game is good or not, but what I will say is that there are many games that feel like it. CoD, BFBC2 and the new MoH to a certain extent. Halo is a lot more unique than KZ2 from what I've played.Pretty much any other FPS? I myself love the gunplay, the AI and the art sty1e in KZ2. Other games may have one of these but no game has all three.

Every FPS is going to have gunplay, AI and an art stylel :? or else it would be broken.[QUOTE="Orchid87"][QUOTE="Anjunaddict"]

See now your deflecting.. but hay.. I'll answer your question. It was designed and noted by developers to have a gritty and trench war fair feel. A game style familiar to some WWII games but rarely done with modern weapons (guns and vehicles).
Weighty controls are a sure fire way to emphasise tactics over "twitch reactions" so common place in FPS today. You move into a room not checking a corner and your almost sure to be dead (under normal control settings).
Now take your last comment, it IS out of the ordinary and that's why the game has a love/hate feel for allot of players. Some guy who plays CoD, TF, Unreal, Quakeor Halo will pick up this game and go "this is not the same", and it was always meant to be that way... and that's my point.
So, please, with out deflecting, name one other FPS out there that's like Killzone other then the fact that you are playing in first person and shooting a weapon.
Note: like the other person said, yes, I do believe Halo is a rip of Tribes and slowly and surly going to "evolve" to be just like it.

It's uniquely generic and outdated :P Hey Reach is adding sprint! It's modernizing itself a bit :DThe Halo series contains among the most successful and critically acclaimed FPS games of all time. Generic shooters are those that try to kill it, such as the atrocious Killzone, Haze and Resistance.

So .... its a gritty war game, with modern weapons and vehicles. Right, that hasn't been done before.
Basically you're saying the weighty controls is the thing that makes this game different? I could just turn the sensitivity down in the options and play any other FPS in a similar fashion. Every FPS is going to feel 'different' to play. Halo 3 feels a lot different to Halo CE. Its still got your typical story, your typical level structure, your typlcal pacing, your typical objectives.
Me personally, I don't hate Killzone at all, i actually like it a lot. But its not original. People hate it because they wouldn't describe the controls as weighty, but as sluggish. Probably the reasoning behind guerilla making Killzone 3 feel more similar to games such as modern warfare.

It's ok, I know it's hard for some to admit they don't have as much experience in a hobby as others.
I can show you my copy of Tribes 1 and 2 along with my copies of Halo "Playa".. and I never said I hated Halo... but if that's what you get out of it.. that's cool, I know SW is serious business :P
KZ3 will no doubt be a well-polished game (which I'm definitely gonna play the **** out of). However, it has a LONG way to go before it's iconic in the same sense Halo is.
Halo can get away with boxart that is nothing more than a number and still outsell almost every game in modern history. I mean this in the most unbiased way possible; KZ3, while a great game, is not and will not be the Playstation's "Halo". Keep in mind; even non-gamers recognize Master Chief's face. Hell, even the music from Halo is iconic. The series has spinoffs, a soda made after it, toys, books, clothing, even a manga/anime series.
Just putting things in perspective for you.

I have no doubts KZ3 will be the better game. But, KZ will never be as popular as Halo because the xbox brand was built on Halo, hence a good portion of the Xbox userbase will buy and play Halo.
Sony never used one franchise to build it's brand, they used diversity, so nothing will be as popular. Maybe GT, but that's really kind of different.
It's closer to COD4's level than halo. The only thing new I heard was operation modes. They better have some good objective modes like CS's/COD's Search and Destroy and some MW2's Demolition. It'd be interesting to see a squad mode something like Last Squad Standing; in which each squad share a single set of lives but I doubt GG is smart enough to implement such gametype or FUN gametypes.
