Killzone Open Beta - Thoughts?

Beta was okay. But I just think the graphics while nice to look at were not great. Lots of jaggies and poor textures. The good news is that I don't see a lot of blur. The bad news of course is that you can now see the game's graphical shortcomings. The game's audio however is top notch. The sound is really good to hear on my 7.1 home theater set up.

IDK why, but I am just not feeling it.

I was really psyched for the beta, but now I think I may skip this game until price reductions start in a a few months after release. I just didn't get a great feeling when trying the beta. Too many WTF moments for me, just like in KZ2.

I just think there are better options out there for MP shooters right now. I am addicted to BFBC2 so maybe that is why. That game has almost everything I need at this point, until BF3 comes around of course. I need me some jets for life to be complete.

Oh yea, what th hell is behind the standard controls for melee and aiming being reversed in this game? Was it like that in KZ2, because I do not remember? I know you can switch it, but c'mon. Who really uses R3 to aim? Awkward much?

Thats the biggest problem I have in some games as well. Sometimes I find myself trying to maintain 3 spawn points as tactican then switching over to engineer to build ammo supplies, all while completing the objectives by myself while everyone runs around like its team deathmatch. When the full game comes out I'm going to need a good clan that actually plays right.

hope this improves in the full game, can be a bit frustrating trying to do everything

Maybe it was the particular area I was standing in then because my TV is no slouch. A 52-inch Sony LCD Bravia.

Oh and to reply to what you said I have to disagree. The R2 button on the Dualshock is terrible. I need something that is more quick, accessible and responsive which makes the R1 my prefered shoot button.

Yeah you have no idea of what you're talking about. First, of course the KZ3 beta feels less polished than KZ2, you're comparing an unfinished product to a product that was finished 2 years ago. :lol: Second, do you even know what deadzone is? Deadzone is the amount of movements you have to make on the analog stick before the game picks up them up. So how can the deadzone in KZ3 be worse than it was in KZ2 if the game picks your movements more quickly? Rockman999

I don't want to fully judge the multiplayer until the retail version, but thus far it hasn't been as good as Killzone 2's.

i didnt have any issues with lag, hows ur connection?

i did run into some bugs though, like spawning in an area where i couldnt get out and i had to commit suicide. that was fun.

all in all its a pretty cool game.

my big decision maker as to whether im going to buy it or notis DOES IT HAVE SPLIT SCREEN ONLINE MULTIPLAYER???? cause if it doesn't, ill just play halo. it baffles me that halo2, which came out last gen had 4x splitscreen multiplayer for up to four players and the majority of the shooters today are only have single player online, with the exception of black ops which has 2x split screen online

Ok this is definitely a first day buy now. I just played it for 3 hours straight using the medic class and I think it's safe to say I'm hooked.

and now BF3 is looking really good as well... on top of that there's inFamous 2, TLG, ME3, Uncharted 3, Ace Combat, and more.........

I really liked. I prefer kz2 gun play but this is pretty solid too. the melee is freaking awesome, I was sniping people from far, then a guy came and cut my throat but I just love how it switched from a third person view

The controls are too sensitive and floaty even on 20% speed setting. But it's better than Killzone 2. Graphics are cool. But it's more of the same. Like a good expansion.

I still need to try it. Is it available to everyone or PS+ only? Doolz2024
