So, in reality the PS4 actually has an advantage in terms of video ram over your setup.[QUOTE="emgesp"][QUOTE="tagyhag"]You can tell who's a console only player by seeing who thinks going from 4GB to 8GB of RAM gives you extra graphics. :P That's not how RAM works folks.mitu123

My point is is that the PS4 can use more than 4GB, but how many games would at 1080p is yet to be seen, and while it's great to have all that VRAM for the gpu, the gpu itself needs to be powerful enough to handle all those textures at a high res, and even though it'll probably have more VRAM than my setup it certainly won't be anywhere near as powerful as 670 SLI so that's why most games will be in 30FPS as well and not going beyond 1080p.[QUOTE="mitu123"]

To be fair, project X looks like crap. If development for it continues the way it's going, it's going to completely ruin what made Xenoblade so great.
The next 3d Mario should impress even next to Killzone SF.

No need to go beyond 1080p with console gaming since 1080p is the standard. Though, I agree a lot of developers will choose 1080p at 30fps than 60fps. Most likely the only FPS games that will be 1080p 60fps will be Call of Duty. Let's just hope Treyarch/Infinity Ward finally uses a brand new engine for their future COD games. That glorified Quake 3 engine has no place on next-gen consoles.[QUOTE="emgesp"]

Much more interested in the next Zelda, hopefully theres more actual adventure than in SS. :P How about that Metroid game... I would sure love one on the wiiu. :xTo be fair, project X looks like crap. If development for it continues the way it's going, it's going to completely ruin what made Xenoblade so great.

I have to ask, what have they showed that looks bad for Project X :?

The VRAM for the system seems perfect for 4kres since that's really VRAM hungry, but the performance lost would not be worth it so that's why a demanding PS4 game won't run at it despite the fact the system can do 4kres for movies. I can see many games going the 1080p/30FPS route, and it would be odd for Call of Duty to stay on the same engine.:P[QUOTE="mitu123"]

It would be unacceptable if the next Call of Duty used the same ancient engine. Activision made a killing off that franchise during this gen of consoles, so the least they could do is use a brand new engine. I wonder if they will build one in house, or use something like UE4.

They have to use a new engine, there's no excuse now, I would laugh if they didn't."Well not only is 1080p the standard but it's also the best res for the specs. Let's wait until the game is finished before we make such statements. This game has a good 8+ months of development time. Things can easily be improved.[QUOTE="emgesp"][QUOTE="KarateeeChop"]
wasn't the next-gen leap we were all expecting, but still looks good.
can't touch crysis 3 though. :(
KarateeeChop
things usually go the opposite direction of improving. :(
The before is from a cutscene in UC3 , it still looks like that? Did you even play the game?
Looks very nice, hopefully it is native 1080p at a solid 30fps, the framerate is a bit bad in this video
Also im really getting sick of people saying "but it's just an alpha, it will get better!"
That's never the damn case, it's always the final version looks worse, always, that's especially true for Sony exclusives
I bet you $20 the final game won't look worse. ( :Looks very nice, hopefully it is native 1080p at a solid 30fps, the framerate is a bit bad in this video

Looked great. The HUD was too much. They better streamline that thing, or at least option it out. I don't want to see all that stuff. I also hope they do away with the visual aids, I think I might figure pressing the left stick up will allow me to climb the rope on my own. I would also know that I need to press R3 to perform a melee by studying the controls in the manual. Might as well just be an on rails experience. Will it auto load for me too?

The early build is quite impressive, I hope there's no dip in performance upon release. Anything short of a constant 30fps is going to be unacceptable given all that is promised.

I think games are going to use much more system RAM compared to video RAM.
On the PS4 it will probably be like 2GB dedicated to video ram and 5GB for system RAM then 1GB for the OS and other stuff.

That's a possibility, but there is a lot of time to polish everything up from now until release date.Looks better than all Crysis games put together lol. Its amazing that future PS4 games will look a lot better than this. This is just a launch game that was made with 4GB of ram!
Have you seen the release version of KZ4 in front of you? Or just screens and compressed youtube videos? Jeez, the game isn't going to be out for 8 months and was likely built on the old dev kits.[QUOTE="hoosier7"][QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]
Did you not see the pics posted above? Or are you just ignoring them? Also have you seen Crysis 3 maxed out in front of you rather than screens and youtube videos?
seanmcloughlin
No because I have nothing else to go off, but the thing is I can play Crysis 3 exactly like what the shots posted look like right now. I don't need to wait 8 months.
Also games have always gotten slightly worse visuals wise between their initial showings and their final product, it's happened with countless games and this will be no different. Not to mention that it was all smoke and mirrors, giving you a fake sense of scale while hindering you to a tiny play area. Crysis 3 is actually somewhat explorable and much much larger
I can play Crysis 3 too but I am not denying that Killzone PS4 demo looks more impressive..[QUOTE="GarGx1"]
That vid is a big improvment on the others I've seen but it's nothing that the PC hasn't been doing for years.
BF3 on Ultra is far better
Witcher 2 maxed is better
Metro Last Light will bag it
Crysis 3 maxed leaves pretty much everything that has come before spitting dust
Massive leap from PS360 but nothing that hasn't already been done better.
GotNugz
BF3 is corridor console shooter targeted for DX9 killzone looks better
metro doesn't even look that good on ultra
crysis 3 while gorgeous is still built around last gen consoles no matter what the devs say, they can't magically make the pc game inherintly different
this is also alpha footage running on new dev kit that only had 4GB of ram, the draw distance alone is better than anything you mentioned, while it is not explorable those buildings and cars and water are all being rendered.
Sorry for the late reply, I've not been on since I posted this.
BF3 was built with PC as lead platform and cut back for the consoles. There is vast difference between the console version and the real version and not just graphically.
Witcher 2 was built with PC as lead platform and cut back for the xbox 360 and never even got to the PS3, only CDR know the reason for this but I'm sure we can speculate. ;)
Metro was built with PC as lead platform and cut back for consoles, Last Light is a full DX11 game with PC as lead platform and will smoke the console versions.
I picked multiplats as they can be directly compared but if you want up coming exclusives, I'll raise you:
ArmA 3 - PC exclusive
Star Citizen - PC exclusive
and
Rome II - even your next gen consoles won't get anything even comparable to the enormity of this game.
Don't get me wrong here I'm all for massive improvements in the next gen consoles. With PC, Xbox and PS4 are all running on the same architecture (x86) this means everyone of us will get the optimization that should go into all games. It's a win, win for all of us, regardless of platform choice.
Just don't imagine that the consoles will be able to push out the visuals that a top end PC can.
Even after watching hundreds of GIFs and watching videos in 1080p I still think i have seen better stuff, HELL even DF agrees with me, I still don't see what's so special about it technically, It's not doing anything new in graphics, Everything has been already done, It's missing out on Indirect Shadows and using Super Sampling Ambient Occlusion instead which is just sad, I expected something bigger from GG, I wanted GG to revolutionize the console graphics, Yet they failed.faizan_faizanAlready done? I have played almost all PC games and I have yet seen anything like the Killzone PS4 demo
Only 30fps? I expected higher from a current gen system.I'm pretty sure the guys at GG were developing the game with 4GB's of ram in mind, so I don't expect visuals to get worse than what we've seen. GG has stated the game will run in native 1080p 30fps. emgesp
Only 30fps? I expected higher from a current gen system. It's locked to 30fps, probably runs higher unlocked. Even Crysis 3 maxed (at 1080p and some AA) running on the highest single GPU doesn't run at 60fps average, more like 40fps.[QUOTE="emgesp"]
