[QUOTE="Espada12"]depth-sensing PS Eye at $150 = innovative.People always bash MS for copying others.. now they are trying their own unique thing people are bashing them. Lose Lose imo =/
RogueShodown
Yes yes can you name me how many games PSEye used that had full body motion tracking?
[QUOTE="Anjunaddict"][QUOTE="Timstuff"]When Microsoft considers buying stuff in the future, I think they need to ask themselves "why didn't our competitors want this?" before they commit.TimstuffWhy don't you wait and see how Kinect performs. You could well be eating your own words. I don't care if it sells well if the only games availible are Kinect Sports, Kinect Dancing, Kinexercise, Kinect Music, and Kinect Party and the like. We've seen all this stuff before on Wii and Eyetoy. We have seen all this stuff before, but, Kinect still offers more opportunity for originality than the Wii/Move does. All we have seen for Move are Playstation 3 games with Wii controls tacked on.
Still doesnt change the fact that the resolution that the kinect uses is a $10.00 web cam. NO matter how you spin it, RESOLUTION = 10.00 webcamResolution aside, Kinect still does a hell of a lot more than a regular webcam does. :|[QUOTE="spike6566"]
[QUOTE="Anjunaddict"]
Um, I don't think that = $10 webcam
BuryMe
He does know theres more than 1 camera? and he does know the resolution means nothing if your not printing, he does know that kinect also has a motor in it, and the only other camera with a motor in it is around the same price. and he does know that it has high quality mics...im assuming that you can use it also as a mic while playing games online, and webcams suck as mics when playing games with loud sounds. It will always be funny that he thinks kinect should cost $10 because of the resolution
Wow how many more threads are we going to see about how bad Kinect is? I mean really no one here has even touched it to comment. Its so rediculous. Can we not at least wait until the thing comes out before we start bashing the heck out of it like we have been. I mean honestly get real.
This is the System Wars way. If it's something that's exclusive to one system, people will still bash it, even if they've never used it... It's rather sad, actually.Wow how many more threads are we going to see about how bad Kinect is? I mean really no one here has even touched it to comment. Its so rediculous. It got gimped before it even hit the market. Now we all know the finger movements of the asian girl in Kinectimals are FAKE. Doesn't detract it from being an AAAAE+ though, maybe an AAAAE at worst. Sony gets bashed for ''removing features''. But at least Sony had the courtesy to have products with PS2 backward compatibilty, M$ just removes features beforehand. And your comment is flawed, enough people have tried Kinect at their local mall or something. And we have seen both the real video's/demo's of Kinect as well as doctored ones. We don't REALLY need to experience it to comment on the specs/HARDWARE do we?Wow how many more threads are we going to see about how bad Kinect is? Only problems I have seen with it were user error, people learning how to control the games.
I played it and it worked great after the initial learning controls, learning how it reads you.

It's just a pointer, the other waggle usages are horrendous. I'm sure there's better example, but I don't have many Wii games, bloomblox maybeOnly problems I have seen with it were user error, people learning how to control the games.

Lag was not noticeable in the few games I demo'ed, I have it preordered with Dance Central and Sonic Free Riders.
Just Dance was one of the most pure fun games on the Wii I have ever played, STILL the only game I own for that system and I expect the same from Dance Central. It has no games YOU would want to play, Kinect is already selling like hotcakes so it obviously has things people want to play.

preordering now! I always though Dance central would be good, did just dance have hard dance moves? did the moves get faster?
doing a kinect critical thread in sw is like doing an i love ice creme topic at a weight watchers meeting. you just are not going to find lots of people arguing with you.

It's like a new sort of stress-reliever for some. Got bullied at school today? Come make an anti-Kinect thread!
I doubt it was to save money, but to make more profit. Does anyone really think the Wii costs anywhere near to produce as what it costs to buy? Its a re-purposed Gamecube.
Drop standards and value whilst using a magic trick to distract you while they do it. Smoke and mirrors, its the new trend.
So ms wants 150 for a camera that has the same resolution as a 10dollar webcam? Am I missing something here?spike6566Well having overpriced HDD's and other accesories, what did you expect? Its Microsoft afterall.
I doubt it was to save money, but to make more profit.tomarlynI'm of the firm believe that if they did not have to sell this at $150 to stay in the black or even minimise losses, they would not sell this at $150, and would have set a more mass-market price. The high price likely means that costs are actually this high.
Also, who actually thought this would be able to read sign language. Anybody who has seen the already released specs should know this isn't feasible.

Even though XBL brings in over a billion dollars a year?Microsoft is going after the Wii's market, not core gamers who will pay whatever's necessary. If they could they would go after it at a Wii-like pricepoint. You can tell they're aware of the high price since they put out a comparison chart that grossly distorts the Wii's price. My thoughts exactly.I doubt it was to save money, but to make more profit. Does anyone really think the Wii costs anywhere near to produce as what it costs to buy? Its a re-purposed Gamecube.

It's going to be released near the holidays, so it shouldn't have a problem selling well, especially since it'll be bundled with a game for the regular $150 and with a game and the new Arcade model for $300. They're marketing this toward casuals, which is clear by their E3 press conference being broadcasted in Times Square. I think the Cirque Du Soleil event was also aired on Nick@Nite and Spike. Also, they probably waited to confirm the price at $150 until they saw how many pre-orders it had. I guarantee they would've announced a lower price if it didn't meet their expectations. It's going to be released near the holidays, so it shouldn't have a problem selling well, especially since it'll be bundled with a game for the regular $150 and with a game and the new Arcade model for $300. But the price has emerged as high.
It's a market expansion product at a monetisation price. There was clearly internal discord over pricing the product this high and monetisation won out, because I'm guessing a market expansion price would put red ink back into the E&D Division's books.

It's not terribly far from it though. All Xbox Live does is host demos and random stuff. Everything else they put on there (full games, movies, etc.) all pay for themselves. The networking is mostly peer to peer.[QUOTE="JStroud88"]

You know, like anything it is difficult to learn at first but once you get the dance moves down it is not bad. Well it's not like Dance Dance Revolution where they put random "dance" steps to some music and make it super hard, you are actually doing the dance the singer does. Like "Eye of the Tiger" you're doing the Rocky dance, MC Hammer "U Can't touch this" you're doing the dance he does in the video. So I like it a lot.
Some people say it's not accurate at reading the moves but I disagree, I've got the timing down so I do awesome at most of the songs and I suck at dancing. : p
