Kinect - don't be fooled

Am i the only person who can see right through this thing? After watching videos about it for Dance Central, Kinectimals, Milo, and more I think people are fools for believing that it actually works like they say it works. most videos have been proven fake too from e3.

Dance Central: umm, so you dance to what you see on the TV... okay, you can do the same by watchin richard simmons or something. the kinect camera does show your whole body in the corner, but its laggy and verry small in the corner so you don't pay attention to it as if they don't wanna show you how bad u look while dancing lol.

Kinectimals: Skittles, please stop it tickles!!... i wonder what happens if u kick the cat in the head lol, probably nothing since its not programmed like they say it is... you're probably limited to doing few things, just like most kinect games...

Milo: Okay, if u watch the video with that ted guy, he lies soooo much!!! for example, he says something like "when you play milo, you're actually sculpting a human being". umm 1.) its not a human being. and 2.) no, you're not. Its almost like an interactive movie of a boy's boring life. should you squish the snail or not... hmm, you pick a path for milo and the story changes through predetermined outcomes. also, did u see how laggy it was throwing stones? you have no sence of power or aim when throwing them, its worse than the wii when u can just flick your wrist to golf and stuff...

ugh, i can go on... kinect is not what they say it is...

It's pretty much a huge scam. People talk about Sony using CG KZ vids, at least KZ ended up looking that good. MS is doing the same with Kinect but isn't delivering at all. And yet they don't get called out for it. I bet a bunch of MS fans will still defend them though.

i really don't understand why anyone would buy Kinect from a gaming perspective.

it has no games anyone with any prior gaming knowledge would want to play.

so why purchase it?

While the technology can and will work, most of the games will be smoke an mirror tricks and won't give players as much freedom to interact with the games as Microsoft originally promised.

I really dont care what other people do with their money and what they choose to believe. When they buy it they will see if it live to the hype or not.

I used to argue against the whole "it's an expensive eyetoy" criticism, but the current software lineup makes the naysayers pretty much correct.

I'm surprised that some people on this forum are excited for it, it looks like grade A garbage.

I dont' think Kinect exactly has a positive following here. Most people know it won't be good.

i agree 100% i believe when you bring the kinect home youre not gonna see what you saw on these videos. its gonna be like false advertisement imho

well i never really bought the whole "use your body as the controller thing"....am i the only one who likes to have a physical controller to perform the EXATCT and ACCURATE functions....though millions of people will line up on day 1 to buy kinect....only to get home and realise that it wasnt worth the time or money

I don't know whether they were forced to (patent-wise or so), but sony and microsoft are trying something a little bit different from a wiimote. And they're having a lot of difficulties doing so. The sonyballs seem to work at least. Kinect is just painful to see. I want to give them a chance. I mean, the thing isn't even out yet and a lot of it is software based. But jees all the stories and movies aren't exactly helping... Neither is the price tag, and the line up.

Careful now. You dont want to upset the fanboys who are going crazy over Kinect. But I kinda agree TC. I used to have high hopes for Kinect but the more bad previews I see and videos i watch Im starting to feel the thing will bomb. MS is really hoping it catches on but I really dont see it happening. I feel it would have been better if it was released next gen with a new Xbox. The tech looks cool but seems real unrefined at this point.

I think the majority of people on system wars will not be buying kinect.

To be honest, you should play it before you judge.

As far as Dance Central everything I've read on it says it works GREAT for that particular game. 1:1 movement. The Kinect games I played at the Microsoft store also worked great and as far as "no sense of power" that is not true, with the bowling game the harder you bowl the faster the ball goes.

But, I guess I've been fooled. Picking it up at launch.
