Sony did say in some interview that they were planning to sell # millions (?) of consoles April. The number was pretty ridiculous tbh, but I think this is what they had in mind. The Slim, price cut, and maybe the release of GT5 and GoW3. I don't know if that would be enough...maybe with Full B/C and cross chat with this update then I can see them selling like hotcakes.

kmart is huge, they may not be walmart over there but unlike walmart they also exist here in aussie/nz and are considerably 'big' here... so overall they are quite a big company

I'm actually thinking about pre-ordering it. When I first heard about the Slim, I decided to take a risk and sell my PS3 on Ebay for $300 ($100 less than what I payed) so I could get the new version. I was hoping it would have backwards compatibility. Looks like my gamble may have payed off!

Sales are at a steady loss though, Wii last year during July sold almost twice as much as it did July 09.

true...but some people who research alot before committing will know that since the 120gb HDD is $120 stand alone....it's actually cheaper if you just get the elite upgrade, cause not only that but you get a mic, wireless controller (arcade only comes with wired i believe) and other goodies

plus if they happen to continue the GOTY elite edition, then that'd be two of the 360's biggest games as well

Doesnt seem like such a good idea and I also just dont get it? WHy do thesse companies make their consoles smaller? Are they really that big to begin with? Are we that pressed for space?

Seems to me SONY is asking for problems. Their slimline PS2 had over heating problems. The 360 has had problems since launching..I dont see where its going to be a good move?
